    This is the best diy how to I have seen. I have some binoculars that I need to make a strap for and I have never learned how to do the paracord wraps. This is so clear and detailed without being boring. I thank you so much for doing this.

    This was a great video and tutorial. Very well done. I am going to try it with a cross-body sling for my vlogging camera.

    very helpful video! I recently made a paracord wrist strap and am planning on making a neck strap. I do have a concern though. since the base cord is simply fused together, would'nt there be a risk of the strap breaking at some point? I know this video has been out for almost 2 years new but hopefully someone can address this. thanks!

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  5 лет назад +1

      The likelihood of the base cord breaking and even if it does and something happening to the camera is so slim that I personally don't even think about it. If done properly, the base cord is wrapped so tightly with the outside weave that it is held in place every few millimeters. If the base cord breaks somewhere, it has to somehow untangle itself from the multitude of outer cordage. If you make the strap, you'll see really quick that the base cord is not moving anywhere after a few weaves of the outer cord. Also, this is pretty much the only way of making the base since you'll likely not be finding anyone who will sell you a premade loop of cord in the size you need. Instead of fusing the cord, you can also make a knot to connect them, but this will likely be visible and make the whole strap less seamless.

    Great tutorial there! made one but found out its quite stiff. do you "soften" them? or you are fine with the stiffness? Thanks for the effort to make a tutorial.

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  7 лет назад +1

      Glad you were successful and that the tutorial helped! As far as the strap being stiff, I think this is a subjective matter. I don't find that any of my straps are overly stiff. They all flex when needed. I would assume that stiffness can arise from a tight weave but then again, I make my weaves as tight as I can.

    • @daniely9310
      @daniely9310 7 лет назад

      yeah i did as tight as i can to avoid it becoming loose, i guess thats the case. some suggestion that you can include Peak Design AL-2 Anchor links to your cord so you can remove/attach with ease anytime and switching straps. something i find it useful.

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  7 лет назад +2

      Yeah, I tried to make the tutorial as simple as possible so didn't want to include extra add-ons, especially since I'm selling the straps. I wouldn't be able to sell them with the anchors!

    Exactly what I've been looking for! I just checked out the website. I'll be putting an order though asap. I'm going to need a length of about 55"-56", can that be done? I'm 6'1 220lbs and I need to carry my x100f cross body. I gonna get the final measurement when I put in the order. Let me know if that all good so I can follow through with the order. Thank you!

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  7 лет назад

      +inFamous Nyc Hey, the only thing that I would have to point out is that the Paracord comes in 50' lengths. In theory this would equate to about 50" of strap but you have to also account for the camera size so most likely your camera will sit about 55" in theory. Also, what color strap were you thinking of getting? Some colors may take a few extra days.

    Dig it - well made tutorial. My only gripe is that I've really never liked that weave on anything --- the fishtail weave much more comfortable and supple feeling when you're done, which is nice for something as long as a camera strap. It would be quite a bit lighter as well.

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  6 лет назад

      It sounds like you know what you want! Just make whichever works for you 👍🏽

    • @therealchickentender
      @therealchickentender 6 лет назад

      Cheers - just a suggestion. I'm sure you've made that wave before. :) "Trilobyte" is another good one that feels "softer" when done.

    for the second strand of paracord, is it also 80inches or depending on me

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  6 лет назад

      I'm not sure what strand you're talking about, but the answer is depending on you and how long you want the strap to be.

    • @HaiTran

      Time really depends on length. If you order it from my website, it should be shipped within 5 business days. All straps are made to order.

    The second piece (the long 40ft piece), do I make the loop at 20ft (halfway)? Can't tell from your video..

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  6 лет назад

      I started with 50'
      minus 80"/6.67' for the loop
      what's left over at the end was 66" and 59" = 125"/10.42'
      50' (starting length) - 6.67' (loop) - 10.42' (leftover) = 32.91' for the braiding
