    3:50 The translation is slightly incorrect and misleading.
    1:40 In Russian he says "А за такие вопросы вам ничего не будет?" Google translates this as "Will you get anything for asking such questions?" But this phrase really means "Will you get some kind of punishment for [answering] such questions?" The pirate doesn't ask for answers to any more questions.

  • @AdamSWL
    @AdamSWL 15 дней назад +34

    I had always thought the buzzer was purely a broadcasting station for transmit only.
    Why would they listen between transmissions?
    Has there ever been evidence of military stations talking back and passing traffic TO the buzzer?
    Smells like bullsh!t to me. Tik Tok is hardly a worthy source of credible information.

      Very likely operator is listening for an emergency transmission, which just never happen (at least yet, or no one has noticed it). If its for a spy network, than the spies on assignment will not transmit unless they have an urgent message or about to be captured.

    • @danilak300

      This WAS unfact real, and i say this as i am the one creating the transcript, hearing and seeing it in real time. There's NOTHING odd about the answer, as there are multiple operators and the one answering might've been just a trainee, and i suppose he was fired from the station not long afterwards

    Love your videos. I am not licensed, but the hobby always fascinated me. But I had some experience when I was in the US Army, Sept.1978-Sept. 1981. I was a Helicopter Crewman on a OH-58A Helicopter. I was stationed near Nuremberg (West) Germany, I was in the 1St Armored Division. One early winter morning 1980, We were flying 2 passengers south to Stuttgart maybe. Our copter had 2 FM tactical radios, one VHF and one UHF transceivers. Th tactical FM's were usually used to talk to other Army Assets . our Company operational freq. was 37.40.The VHF & UHF were used to contact The control Towers and ATC, plus we had several Navigation systems. . Suddenly we start receiving transmissions from another aviation unit on our company op freq.. They sounded as if they we 20 km away. but they were from a North Carolina Army National Guard unit. They were on the other side of the Atlantic and we were skipping signal for several 1000 miles. They could not believe that we were flying over Southern Bavaria in the very wee hours of the AM. We could talk for about 10 minutes or so as long as we were approx. 7000 ft altitude. That was pretty cool in my book!!

    • @markgabrich4788

      I was thinking the same thing. It seems more likely that the pirate and the “buzzer operator” are the same person having a laugh and/or seeing if anybody would notice the interaction. Obviously it worked😆I’m just a little skeptical that after years of routine radio silence and Russia (military or otherwise) refusing to even acknowledge The Buzzer all of a sudden somebody responds to a pirate. Another little mystery, though probably not Russian (France being a more likely candidate, consistent with when it propagates). We (i.e. various amateurs tuning around 60 metres) are hearing in the mornings (and probably other times, though it tends to fade out by mid morning as you'd expect) on 5345.8 kHz a strange CW beacon sending French words. This morning it's sending ARMOIRE repeatedly, at other times it's sent words like SUCRE and RIVIERE. Odd.
