If we had more fathers like James Evans out there, all these "mass shootings," and other foolishness would be gone. Boys need a strong man in their lives to teach them right from wrong.
You left out the funniest part. They said a series of "goodnights" to each other. Things got quiet for a couple of seconds, and then J.J. said, "Goodnight, John-Boy!" Fans of "The Waltons" will understand.
I respected John Amos. He was the best TV dad, ever. I don't think he was mean. I think he just meant business when it came to his kids. He felt sorry for that dude in the Warlords gang that shot J.J. I think if there were more fathers out there like James Evans there would not be a lot of this foolishness going on and mass shootings and drug use.
I want to add that he was a parent. He meant business and he did not go our of his way to be friends with his children. You have to be parents. You cannot be friends with your children. When you are just the parents you show love and discipline and the children respect you.
3:59 John Amos got tired of Jimmy Walker’s goofy and immature character. And also the way the writers wrote how Thelma so spoiled that she disrespected her parents telling them what she gonna do when she dating Larry.
If I recall correctly, the three went on to say good night to each other and then J. J. said, "Good night, John Boy" (from the Waltons). That was funny!
James Senior was a strong father who kept his family together and on the right track. JJ was the one who found humor in even the bleakest of situations, so he kept the family sane.
Good times my all favorite when I used to be in elementary I just come home from school change my clothes eat my vegetables and sat in front of TV and watch all my old time shows 😀
One of the best scenes they ever shot. That moment where James pops up shaking his head in anger is Gold. 😁 Edit: Great they didn't show that part with the whole good night bit If you're gonna upload these clips why skimp out on the stuff people probably came for? The good night bit it probably the most memorable part of this scene.
Most classic Black Sitcoms had good lead Fathers. James Evans, Carl Winslow, Roc, Cliff Huxtable, Philip Banks, Daddy from Amen(But the Daughter was already grown), Michael Kyle, Lester Jenkins, George Jefferson (But Lionel was already grown) 😀
That scene reminded me of a Sanford and son episode, when Fred slept outside on the truck, because he was afraid to sleep in the house with some coffins Lamont had purchased,so Lamont goes out there too,and the two keep taking the pillow from each other.
I wonder if that Pat on her backside was scripted 😂. They didn’t get upset about stuff like that back in the days and plus these two probably had a good relationship anyway.
John Amos Was My Boy and Always Will Be He Was The Best Loved Him He Was the Best TV Father He Look Like a Football Player He Said He Player Football in Real Life When he was Younger

James Evans was without a doubt one of the strongest father figures on television
Yes he was!!! I ❤️ him
Not was but IS
My father was VERY similar to James Evans, and for that, I'm VERY grateful for him (along with my mother) raising me and my brothers proper!
Absolutely True 💯💯💯💯
he reminded me of one of my uncles , strong but full of love for his family.......RIP Uncle Al.
If we had more fathers like James Evans out there, all these "mass shootings," and other foolishness would be gone. Boys need a strong man in their lives to teach them right from wrong.
Amen to that 🙏 🙌 👏 😌 💯 👌 🙏
Absolutely RIGHT
YES 👍🏾!!
He still didn’t stop jj from getting shot when he joined the warlords gang
💯
I grew up watching Good Times. That show was NEVER THE SAME without James Evans. It was a wonderful show in its prime
James Evans best television dad kept the entire family in check and on point

Me too!! I truly miss him!
I miss mine 2
Me three

Me 5
The Show was never the same without James. He was the Best!
He was the best. I didn't like it after he left. I wasn't that funny anymore
True..
Couldn't agree more and don't watch it after James is gone
And word on the Grapevine is that Norman Lear finally admitted this.
@80schild47, That's why they had to bring on recurring characters like Lenny & Sweet Daddy.
JJ may have been the star but the dad was the heart of the show.
That's why the show hit rock bottom after Norman Lear dismissed him.
James was a real one 💯💯
Yes he was 💯
@@mitzithompson6585 Carl Winslow from family matters
Junior If I Had Said My Prayers I Swear You Wouldn't Be Here Right Now 😂😂😭😭
James is the glue that held this family together. I only watch the episodes with James in them.
Me too lol
This show was and will always be my favorite sitcom. It was one of the most realistic portrayals of black social issues in the 70s
I swear I rewinded this scene so many times 😂😂😂😂😂 goodnight John boy😂😂😂😂😂
Junior if I had said my prayers I swear you wouldn't be here right now
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
💀

*Deceased* . 😂😂😂😂

I Am Weeeeakk😂😂😂😂😂
James was one of my favorite sitcom fathers because he reminds me a lot of my own father.
May God bless that entire cast they were wonderful it was a one-of-a-kind show.

Who's John boy?
@@midnyte6195 Watch some of the early episodes of "The Waltons" and you'll get it.
Oh no you left out the best part good night John boy lol
I'm pretty sure John Amos said something after J.J says, "Good night, John Boy". It looked like they muted whatever John Amos said when he snapped 😂
What a great comedy team! They were epic!
First time watching good times,
“Junior if I had said my prayers I swear you wouldn’t be here right now” lol that’s great
So this why Martin said Cole and Tommy was looking like JJ and Michael 🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂😂
Yes! When Martin said it, I was crying laughing 😅
He's looking in the mirror he hates to say goodbye to himself 🤣😂

The show went down when they took John Amos off the show.
3:59 John Amos got tired of Jimmy Walker’s goofy and immature character. And also the way the writers wrote how Thelma so spoiled that she disrespected her parents telling them what she gonna do when she dating Larry.
That was the Satan’s Knights gang leader. And yeah he felt sorry for him after watching his mom disown him
😂😂😂😂The last line was savage. I miss James. It wasn't the same after he died.
My fave family. I always wished James was my Father. 💗💗💗💗💗💯
My father was a lot like James Evans. When we did wrong we paid the price.
My dad was really tall and strict like James Evans I miss my pops most definitely
Ah the beautiful struggle, God bless this experience, it'll keep you humble and ambitious, but definitely grateful 🙌😎
Love me some "Good Times". Still watching this In '2022. 😃🤣😁
James has his way with his adoring wife Florida
I love JJs energy ❤😂
Goodnight Johnboy 😂
If I recall correctly, the three went on to say good night to each other and then J. J. said, "Good night, John Boy" (from the Waltons). That was funny!
JJ "Hey wait a minute now Im inda middle?"
James "YOU GONE STAY THERE TOO, see we runnin a wishbone formation and Tonight YOU THE BONE" 😭😂😂😂
If it were my house, Ernie would be sleeping on that sofa bed. Especially since he’ll be out all night on “business” I’m not giving up my bed!
Wheres the rest?? The part JJ and Michael was messin' with James when they kept sayin' Good Nite to each other
That’s what I’m saying and another thing why is jj was wearing them hot red shirt and pants and still where the hat off
For real. That's probably what everyone came for
The clown who uploaded this didn't feel that it was important enough.
RIP MR AMOS THIS WAS ONE OF MY FAVORITE EPISODES
Godspeed Mr Amos🌠🌠🙏🙏...Your portrayal of a strong Husband and Father is LEGENDARY!!!!
Loved this series, right in all the right places. Miss it.
Man, I miss this show!!
ME TOO Those were the goodold days
Good time still comes on late at night. Set your DVR like I did that way you will have them 😍😍
James Senior was a strong father who kept his family together and on the right track. JJ was the one who found humor in even the bleakest of situations, so he kept the family sane.
Jimmy Walker once said that he based the manorisms of the JJ character off of Ed Norton from _The Honeymooners..._
Don't remember Norton ever being so vain
Good times my all favorite when I used to be in elementary I just come home from school change my clothes eat my vegetables and sat in front of TV and watch all my old time shows 😀
"BONEY ELBOW" That sure is FUNNY! LOL
R.I.P John Amos. You will be missed 🙏🙏🦅🦅
I sure loved all these older sit coms ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
They need to add this show to a streaming service
It’s on Peacock so that’s a start.
The reruns still come on The Grio and Get TV

John Amos!! Greatest TV Dad EVER!! RIP Sir!!
R.I.P john Amos 🕊🙏🏿
Good Times was a riot. It was such a funny show.
During my childhood I slept on one of those folding couches turned it into a bed didn't have nobody to share it with
That what we had back in the day
I did had to share it with my sisters
Despite living in the projects, that apartment sure did look cozy and restful at night.
Alltime classic
James best TV dad of all time. Knew how to discipline his kids but at the same time be a great father that was loved
James Evans is a strong father for his kids on the TV show strong black wife by his side holding the family together
CLASDIC HILARIOUS
James was a strict firm and fair dad but funny also
I loved James and Florida's relationship. 🥰
(I may also have a longtime crush on John Amos. Possibly. Maybe.)
One of the best scenes they ever shot. That moment where James pops up shaking his head in anger is Gold. 😁
Edit: Great they didn't show that part with the whole good night bit
If you're gonna upload these clips why skimp out on the stuff people probably came for? The good night bit it probably the most memorable part of this scene.

GREAT SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Damn, damn, damn!
Out of every TV dad I grew up watching James Evans is the best one tied to the spot is Fred Sanford
The world would be a better place if we had more fathers like James Evans around.
One of my favorite scenes. Sadly you didn't show the best part of the scene
It looks so cozy😍
We're running a wishbone information and tonight you're the bone James nudged his son Junior
Imagine sleeping like that into your teenage years.
Classic 😆
I REMEMBER NORMAN LEAR NOT GETTING THE CREDIT HE DESERVED...HOW HE WASN'T CRAZY ABOUT GOING TO SCHOOL ..AND FOUND HIMSELF GOING IN ANOTHER DIRECTION.
More fathers like James yall already know, my w father was one of those fathers
I love that show
He plays a good father God Bless him I love good times p

Reginald ValJohnson. Carl from, family matters, was a good dad also

This episode has me cracking up
RIP Mr. Amos.
They kept playing "Switcheroo" switching bed positions!

R.I.P. John Amos (1939-2024)
R.I.P. John Amos aka James Evans.
This is going to be Barkari and Rashad because of Rashad's dumb move sending the text for Tiana to his girlfriend😂😂
A comedy classic 74-79
Rip John A ❤😢
RIP John Amos and Esther Rolle...y'all were the real power couple
James Reminds me a bit of my father loving but take no nonsense strong.🥊
I wonder if that Pat on her backside was scripted 😂. They didn’t get upset about stuff like that back in the days and plus these two probably had a good relationship anyway.
