- Well all I was really up for today was to take a ride and relax. But like life a ride can end with having to makes choices in life. What will my choices be today

Our house is very small, 512 square feet and we are not mimimalists by any means but have what we need and enjoy. We're 75 years old just not hanging onto things anymore. I quit watching the news as soon as I realized most of them lied, and were biased.
I'm pushing 65, and I'm decluttering my place, too. Funny how that being a widower and an empty nester seems to cause clutter!
Brought snacks for riding in trunk, aka rumble seat. For that person behind us mad because we going the speed limit, I stuck my tongue out at him.

Mr. Tom, so glad to go on a ride with you! I pray that you will be feeling 100% soon! Mr. Tom, once you have everything you don't want in boxes, call a church thrift shop. They will be happy to pick it up. You can also find out when the churches are having thrift sales and you can go there with a table and sell your goods. People will go crazy buying kitchen ware. Online, those old appliances are sold pretty high. Also, remember that old appliances are better than the new disposable ones. The gas in upstate NY is now 3.69$ . We want to see you at the best of times and we want to see you at the worst of times….as long as we can see you on your channel. Life is not always the best of times for any of us. Life is composed of peaks and valleys, a part of our walk through life, and the lessons we learn along that walk. The ride was uplifting for me, I enjoy the simple things in life now at my age. I smiled when I heard you say about decluttering. We downscaled so much, and find I miss nothing of all the “things” I accumulated during living. We donated or simply threw it out. Changes. Have 2 sisters in Mobile, Alabama. They both love it, I’m in Mississippi, don’t plan on leaving this area, unless absolutely necessary. But I do enjoy visiting them in Alabama 😊

Faced reality: NO ONE wanted our stiff, including us! We flipped the script. Instead of deciding what to toss, we chose only what to keep, if we'd used it in the last year. Realized we had already tossed the rest, we just threw it out in the basement, garage, and back room !
While I'm in the car, I just want to remind you to visit your family! Family is everything. I miss mine.
I also live alone,well not really with all the dogs and cats. I decluttered my kitchen last year. So many things that were duplicates or had been unused for years. I decluttered the rest of the house too. Feels much better. Have a great day!
Speaking of pots and pans I have literally sold hundreds to the scrap yard that I have picked out of apartment dumpsters sometimes brand new ones. If anyone out there needs extra money just go dumpster diving at apartment complexes. I make multiple trips a week, it's cash paid on the spot.
Prices right now are paying GOOD copper alone is over $4/lb now.

Maybe donate things to a Woman's Shelter or to a Halfway House. A YardSale with a sign that says " Everything a dollar and under. I bet you'd sell enough to buy the Kitty Krew, Gracie and the birdy's some more food.

I have one son,a grand daughter in the Air Force in Alaska. I ask them if they wanted anything they said no. I'm having a garage sale the first of june.You do gather a lot over the years. Yes, decluttering makes us all feel better. That saying "less is more" is so true. I did that last year. Gave things to my children and grandchildren and the rest gave to a local Thrift Store. I'm on that declutter journey too Mr Tom. I just got to the point where I want to have the things I love out where I can see and enjoy them. The drop-off lady at my Goodwill says "you always bring us good stuff". I say to myself "good riddance-let someone else enjoy it".
Chuckle. I have a quilt on my couch that my great grandma made me. A dear friend stopped by and saw it laying out. She offered to make a pillowcase to protect it from the light. I tried to be polite and say no. I want to use it. I don't know anyone who would cherish it as much as I do. And my grandma made it to use.

Hi Mr. Tom. I’m with you in the decluttering. I recently gave a young family children’s cake pans and last summer we cleaned out our “garage”. A large dumpster, a pile of scrape iron and old kids toys. I’m trying to get rid of “stuff” so later, my kids won’t have to. Take care.
Can you include some of your decluttering, as I am also trying to do that. They say o one wants older stuff anymore. They don’t want the good wood furniture,, collectibles, antiques etc.
Yard sale is great place to start. Have a sell buy things you need for repairs on your house. What you don't sell put it on curb put free sign up someone will usually stop and get it! Have a great day ❤🙏
Just an idea, since you said you wanted to do sprucing up your place. Maybe a yard sale! vintage Pyrex and casserole dishes, mixing bowls and utensils can make good extra money

I’ve been downsizing for over a decade. I’ve decided this is the year to really go after the end of it. I sold a haulmark enclosed trailer, which led me to have to empty it , which led me to have to go into the barn … make room… I said nope! It’s going! Sold a bunch of antique furniture, had to almost give it away but that’s okay. Let someone enjoy it. Im going to do the flea market and try on small antique stuff, we will see how it goes. I keep bringing boxes and bags of stuff to donate. Yeah kitchen stuff is same here, I don’t use it.
The biggest problem I have in parting off, are my books. Love my books! But we have a friends of the library here that has a book store I can donate to.
I tried tell it and sell it for an antique claw foot tub I have, it’s a radio show. A man called me and asked if the tub had legs. I said yes. He said, good, cause I need some legs! 😂 🤦♀️no, gotta take the whole tub. Lol it’s down by barn, I was going to put it in the bathroom when I redid it, but I can’t find anyone to come do any work on this ole house. So, anyway, im on same page you are. This is the year! I’ve found one bag or box here n there adds up thst I can keep taking out of here.
Seems we spend the first half of our lives accumulating, the second half has been downsizing for me.
It's been over 2 years since I watched regular news.
Maybe you could set up a couple tables in the front yard and have a little yard sale, using that extra $ for garden supplies. Yard sales and thrift stores are really popular right now with all the price increases in the stores. Hug those kitties...

You're right about Stuff, we don't need big pots or 10 plates, bowls etc anymore.
I also have lots of duvets and pillows etc clogging up cupboards , things in the back of cupboards I haven't seen or used for years !!

The flags are at half-mast as it's Peace Officers Memorial Day. Mr Tom, us golden age folks just don't bounce back from health issues fast as when we were young. Glad you're feeling better each day. Don't overdo anything. Enjoyed the ride through your rural green neighborhood.
I was just about to tell Tom why the flags are at half staff. I have 2 different ancestors who were Police officers, that were killed in the line of duty. And have personally known two others who were killed. May they rest in peace, they are not forgotten. And THANK YOU for remembering and knowing what today is.

We are taking a three day break and going North to Snowdonia from tomorrow but then the big clean up of our house begins. Spring cleaning is late this year because, well spring came late itself.
We are planting out beans, peppers and tomatoes today so our son, whose house/dog/cat sitting while we are gone, can just water them if needed.

I joined a gym that has a pool, hoping to improve my health.
I'm slow getting the garden in. Working on summer squash, green onions, and canary melons, cucumber. Don't have my beans, roselle, or basil in.... Sigh. It's been a tough Spring because earwigs are really bad this year. Kinda feel defeated before I start due to losing a lot of transplants already.
I too am downsizing.. Maybe you can find a thrift store in the poorer part of town or near an RV park or campsite. I like your idea about home improvements. That sounds motivating. I might borrow that idea.
Mr. Tom it was a beautiful drive with you today. Take care of yourself and don't overdo it cleaning clutter. I make a keep pile and a trash pile and a donate pile.

At my age. 76. I am not too worried about storing up anything. I think we need wisdom but I think if we trust the lord. He’s always there in times of trouble. I’ve had much money. And I’ve had little. But I’ve found it don’t change God. He’s in control of all things. So I’ll put my trust in him. And I know this I’ll. Be out of here one day. The less I leave. Behind the better off my poor kids will be. They are the ones that have the clean out. And it comes down to how much stuff do we need. lol. Good luck on your clean out of your home. The less the better. I think. Even if we are so much like squirrels we want to store up stuff. lol

Good to hear that you have Oxygen tanks for back-up. My kiddo has the tanks for back-up as well as a Concentrator with moisture. And you are right about preserving your privacy... Some thing's should be that way.
Great ride. It has been raining most of May here in Oklahoma too, Mr. Tom. We will be thankful for all this rain when July and August arrive with their high temperatures and scarcity of rain.
Thank you for saying that about shtf. I've never seen any event that would end life like they keep talking about. Who in the world can eat 25 yes worth of food they want you to buy. I keep extra food but I got to much now way out of date not used. I call that wasteful myself. If it happens I wouldn't want to be here anyway. Life was made to live and enjoy. I to am 68 and have medical issues but I seem to manage to go on.
Sure enjoyed the ride, even if the car was so packed with people this time. Too bad the camera stopped and missed recording our yodelling contest towards the end. You are a great chauffeur Mr Tom, and I enjoy hearing your thoughts about life. One scripture about (the apocalypse you mentioned), "the vision is yet for the appointed time, and it keeps panting on to the end, and it will not tell a lie. Even if it should delay, keep in expectation of it; for it will without fail come true. It will not be late.” (Habakkuk 2:2, 3) But you are right, building a big stash of canned goods in the basement will not save people in that day. It's better to worry about just attaining our needs one day at a time.
Just think !! Homes had no closets , just coat hooks for the two sets of clothes. One for every day and one for church.

So much green foliage. I would love to know how bad the bugs, any bugs, get in all of that. It looks that lush up here in WI come mid-July. It was a nice drive even though I had someone on my lap in the front seat. I can't do back seats because I get car sick. We've had quite a bit of rain here too. The bluffs protect us from a lot of bad weather---we still get it, just not as extreme and as much. I don't read or watch the news. If it's vital to our life my husband will let me know, otherwise, my mental health can't handle it. I liked the news as a teen--I loved listening to John Chancellor and David Brinkley. We're decluttering for a move within the next few months. Much of it will be donated and some sold online. It gets harder and harder to do as you get older. There's no time like the present. I told my husband three years ago, I have 20 years (if I live that long) of being able to read books, watch videos, travel, hike, and relocate/start again. After that--it's anybody's guess. He thought me morbid, but now he understands perfectly. Getting real and honest helps you make the best of your time, resources, and abilities while you have that time left. Great video Mr. Tom. Nice. We had flash flooding last night with the long hard rains yesterday and especially last night . The intensity & duration are usually not as long as that was unless a hurricane comes in.
I checked in on my parents today. Theyre fine. Not much else away from house myself. Im a bit sore today on my right side. Almost fell down yesterday. Managed not to but paid a price, 😂.
No point in keeping games, toys & such when no one visits & the one that lives at home is too busy to spend time in board games or card games. So. Giving away is what i do to.

Yesterday, I was watchin my little resident humminbird out in my garden, and he was just havin him the best time drinkin nectar from the blueberry blossoms, and then he'd zip over to the raspberries, and get him some nectar from them blossoms. I love watchin all the little pollinators, weather it be the hummers, or the bumbles, or the butterflies, which, sad to say, the butterflies have over the years, gotten less and less. I can remember years ago, we'd have all different kinds a butterflies around here, but not no more. Well, you take care of yourself Mr. Tom. I'm decluttering too. I had a pipe burst disaster in my house and most of it was gutted down to the studs. It's been a very long process. Take it from me, declutter now before you have a wet moldy mess to go through.

I haven't watched the news in a long time now.Gas prices range from $2.98 to 3.20 a gallon up her in Northern Alabama. I agree after the kids move out and away we tend to hang on to things thinking that they might want or need.cast iron on these facebook and such are priceed really expensive among most things and the thrift stores are wanting 3 prices for things that have been donated for what you can buy brand new.Theres people up this way that go around and pick things off the curb and the sale them.and ones that go and pick up things that people nolonger want and they list them and sale them on Facebook etc.I've donated stuff to hospice aswell as domestic violence thirft stores and old towels and such to the animal shelter and local veterans. I am always decluttering as I go it's amazing how much we can collect over time, but I have come to realize my family doesn't want it seems younger ones are not into to many antiques and not all sentamental like I am it will be easier if I lighten the load and let stuff go now its our memories that are of most important anyway I can take a few pictures of things that were of importance a box of pictures is easier to keep than all the stuff. beautiful day for a ride ❤ And I too have been staying away from the news I need to so I can keep myself positive and keep moving forward. I occasionally listen but I get depressed if I eat a steady diet of doom and gloom.
We have neighborhood apps where people get a place to live and have no furniture or. Dishes, etc. I think you should try the garage sale. I get nervous about strangers coming to the house.

Tom, I get your point of the video and I am going to do the same. And I know you are not a hoarder. One thing I would like to warn people about is don't move in with people who are constantly going to flea markets and used stores and addicted to them. For 15 years I have been fighting with my boyfriend to stop the insanity. I have OCD and it hasn't been good for me. My boyfriend has been a wonderful provider, but now he's going back home to his Country. It's sad, but I'm also glad in a way. I begged him to stop buying all this stuff for Costa Rica and having it all over his bedroom. I live in an apartment. And I hear "I got it for $1" I don't care- I want my house back. These people are sick. I'm going to sell my stuff for cheap because people are out of control.

Good luck with your decluttering Mr Tom ❤ we donated all our kitchen items to the epilepsy foundation of Minnesota (they take gently used pots, pans, plates etc) and our local church’s food pantry (food processor, ice cream maker, juicer - all the appliances that well meaning friends and family gifted to us but I’m unable to use due to my disability). Sorry your still having complications from your biopsy 🙏❤️ I’ll pray for you that your better soon. If you have time please pray for my mom. She has COPD like you and had to have surgery (& unfortunately she’s having complications and not doing so hot). Appreciate it 🥰

Hi Mr. Tom thanks for taking me along on your ride. Well, I'm right there with you on just about everything. Living here is the most expensive state in the Union I can tell you it isn't pretty, that is our economic situation isn't pretty. Being a native Californian, I do love my state. My little town is about 30K people and I work a couple days in an antiquemall. Heck, kids now days, or any generation for that matter do not want the stuff from their parents generation, I can confirm that. I would suggest to just donate it to a good thrift store in your area. They may even come out and pick it all up for you. Selling it will be a headache, but it could be a step you need to take emotionally if you are attached to your stuff. Tom, may I suggest that you pick up some boxes and put items in them (like any extra towels, sheets, nic knacks ect) and add one of the appliances to it and charge $5.00 a box. Everything in the box for 5 bucks! I bet if you filled 4 or 5 boxes or so, you'd make enough to use for Kitty food cans for awhile. I do know that I'd gladly pay $5.00 for for a George Foreman grill, I've used those so many of them, I have been known to wear them out. And yes , I do buy them at yard sales when I run across them. And the food processor is also a great thing, I've worn out a few of those as well....just sayin'. But you can donate the food processor to your church for their kitchen. It'll help those members who prepare food for church gatherings and such...Or you could call your local churches and see if they know of a family who needs items. There's always people who lose their homes due to fires or storms, and usually someone on their behalf reaches out to the local churches for assistance and they would know if someone is in need.
Excellent ideas. I rather do this than advertise on those other sites. I agree with Mr. Tom on that. You really have to be extra careful and stay safe. Some people will cause problems when they get your number and I'm not comfortable with strangers coming to the family home.
