Beautiful Shamim Ara, and handsome Waheed Murad. So nice is this. Both Shamim Ara & Waheed Murad have passed. Death of Waheed Murad at young age of 45 in 1983(?) was so tragic. GOD bless them. Their work in Film Industry brought joy & happiness to millions.

1968, for much of that year I was 11 years old 8th grade student growing up in the capital city Karachi; as though the entire vast India had converged into Karachi, but not quite so with any other city; making Karachi a most vibrant city. The following year the capital city was to move to a newly planed brand-new city of Islamabad, signifying to my mind that Ayub Khan, the then dictator telling us that Islam is the newly formed nation's raison d'être; perhaps to insist that they are going to play the significance of religious divide with India to the hilt.
The last war of 1965 was still fresh in my mind; due to the fact that men had dug up trenches in the vacant lot next-door from my house; in case of Indian attack or aerial bombardment we can find shelter in those trenches, but it had never came to pass. My father was a civilian naval officer and I gathered later that Pakistani army was handed an ignominious defeat; even though the Pakistanis were the aggressors, as was the case throughout our various wars. The Army Cabal was justifying their need to impress us that they would have to accept the army's dictatorship as regular and normal. "Qatil-i-Islam," was the title my dear late father used to recognize Muhammad Ali Jinnah as in his anger for making Pakistan a reality had been an utter failure. Little did we know then while this song would play on the radio as a background sound that my father will be transferred to Chittagong, East Pakistan within a year and whom we won't be seeing until 1973 when Mrs. Indra Gandhi would be repatriating the Pakistani POWs taken from the newly formed Bangladesh as prisoners back into Pakistan through the Wagaha border.
But I wouldn't stick around to see my own country's painfully slow disintegration by the Pakistani elite Jahilliya; for I had been planning to leave for the West in 1969, when my father was transferred to East Pakistan. My goal was to pursue education, and it had occurred to me that I would get a better perspective from the outside looking in. After the formation of Bangladesh it had turned out that there were more Muslims in India than either in Pakistan or in Bangladesh; making the point of the Partition absolutely ludicrous. Wouldn't the people of the entire subcontinent better off had they never indulged in that most abominable and bloody partition when 3 million were cut down? And then the imbroglio of 1971 which had made Bangladesh possible another million were brutally murdered? Had they only agreed to a lose confederacy of one-nation were we would be free to roam around among many states, semi autonomous; Hindu rule where Hindus are in majority; Muslim rule where Muslims are in majority. Indeed Qatil-i-Islam wrecked the peoples and so many lives for what? A failed concept. And a bondage under the most corrupt and thuggish Pakistani-Army cabal.
What is worse is that the same clowns of the revolving Army-Cabal is still at it, killings continue in KPK province, Baluchistan, and to some extent in Sind.
All those memories came to me when I was only a starry eyed teenager with dreams. And the country is still teaming with young but the thugs remain in charge, and no visionary leader to come forward; for how can one before he or she is la pata (missing!). (Thank you for reading.)
Dear and respected Shri Asif , I read your article , liked. Interestingly we are almost of same age , as my birth is of 1956 . In 1968 I was also in 8th standard. My mother and father both were great freedom fighters , faught against British rule , both were jailed by British . You are very right , actually Nehru and Jinna both were power hungry so they divided India for their lust of power. Mahtma Gandhi was a blind supporter of Nehru so He also accepted the idea of Pakistan. If Congress and Muslim league would have not divided our beloved country , we would have become world power with in ten years .No doubt we were brothers but divided by hate politics by polititions. India took almost 75 years to become a world power now , as an atomic Power , military power and financial power too. Unfortunately democracy in Pakistan is not strong as in India . Our democracy and nationlist thought is very strong as we treat our country as Bharat mata , the motherland. Nehru Gandhi family looted our country but in Pakistan most of the polititions and army men are more currupt than Indian polititions. Here the good thing is that Army never take part in politics. This is the reason Pakistan attacked India four times , India only countered it . After winning the war we gave back land and 90 thosand Pakistani POW back to Pakistan but Pakistan didn't reciprocate. These all good plus points of India are because of Hindutv . Now I am telling you the truth , as I know in Pakistan , they teach many wrong things about Hindus , Hindutv and RSS. Actually we the Hindus are taught that whole world is our family , we must love all. But teachings of Islam is based on descriminatin. So many muslims of India and Pakistan , un necessaryly hate Hindus. Truth is that we are taught in RSS that we should love all , respect all and serve our nation and society. In Kashmir also we the RSS men , saved life of many muslims during floods. But unfortunately in Pakistan they tell that RSS is a terrorists outfit . The truth is that we Hindus never hate anybody , this is the reason in 1947 Hindu population was 95 % , muslims were 3 % but now in 2022 Hindus are only 68 % while muslims are 28 % . As in India , most of the rules are in favour of muslims and against Hindus. Hindu can have only one wife while muslims can have four wives legally. Truth is that muslims are more happy in India than any other country . But no one will tell this in Pakistan. Thanks for reading . Tell the truth to your friends ,so that we can be friends at least if not brothers.

But there are few things you have mentioned that I must correct:
1) that India is a democracy, a bequest of the British, albeit an ill fitting suit; that I can argue that it to be an ill-fitting suit even for the Britons in the UK; where it has morphed into a dictatorship of a revolving cabal of politicians, bureaucrats, and the large corporations' CEOs that increasingly ride the citizenry roughshod - what is happing currently in India, as well as my own USA.
2) Good governance can only take place when we begin to acknowledge that India is a vast country, and I'm not just talking about the so called three, four, or five nations in separate countries surrounding India, but One entire sub-continent teaming with tens if not hundreds of nations. The good governance entails dispersed, where power is diffused; when finally India is a lose confederation of many, many semi-autonomous state, and each state is then divided into many, many villages, cities, towns and hamlets - governed most locally. Where there is no Pakistan, and no Bangladesh.
3) We unfortunately haven't had the kind of leadership it takes to set up a blue-print of a truly spirited vision (that you elude to) that embraces the Hindu vision of seeing and embracing the Humanity as one encompassing totality, and yet honoring all its awesome and countless variations, and permutations - with boundless freedom accorded to individuals to realize their own God-given potential.
Such a visionary leader does not go perpetuating an ill-fitting suit of a bequest of the British and preach phony Hindutva. In reality our Hindustan had never been anything quite like what the British ended up doing; making one giant India to be governed from the centre, i.e. New Delhi with the aid of an increasingly sclerotic bureaucracy that which has become an unsustainable load on the backs of Indians, undermining India's true potential of achieving the true stardom, a force for goos, alas providing the weary world a new model of self-governance that thus far hadn't been envisioned.
And that is the only framework that eventually would come to prevail, but a visionary leader with a gift of rhetoric and skilled master of using the bully pulpit can communicate the New Order outlined here and set about setting up an example for the rest of the world to follow in our footsteps a path to peace, growth, and prosperity.

This is the reason I do write for the good of people and of this world everyone should understand the Hindu philosophy , Hindu culture which is ancient also. That means " we are together , development for everyone !" Now there is no descriminatin , you may be Hindu , Muslim, Sikh , if you are poor , you will get genhu, chana, chawal , stove , gas cylinder free ! Government will give you , even house ! This is Hindutv , we are taught in RSS , this is the reason , we are heading towards "Uniform civil code !" This is the reason now you see India after 2014 . Altered India , New India , fast developing India ! Unfortunately most of the muslims in India are not understanding the good part , they are opposing development , they are burning trains , buses , buildings , pelting stones , agitating , they are not understanding that development is for them , they will be benefited . It's good to know that Hindu ideology accepts the whole world as one giant family, including the inanimate contents, i.e. the electromagnetic spectrum, the waves what our universe is at the bottom, according to physics, life is an emergent phenomenon.
But we also know man remains quite primitive; tide to the most primitive instincts in our Human brain resides at the nape of our necks just above the spinal chord, the R-Complex; from whence issues forth the our most primal instincts, such as anger, fear, sex, territoriality, that we share with other animals. Any differences however minor in images and likenesses leads us to wars, and conflicts; a more cursory examination of our history can easily reveals. People of South India in Karachi are found to be most uneasy with the folks of Northern India, especially the tribal people of the Afghan-Pakistan border, such as Sindhi, Pathan, and Balochi. Second and third generation migrants still maintain their ethnic background of India however diminished.
You may maintain lofty ideals of great atima or soul to love the mankind, but the ground reality is quite vulgar, I can cite you the matrimonial section of newspapers and magazine to emphasize the vulgar desire of many for the fare-skin mates, and then there is that ever present wound of the cast system that won't go away.
Lastly the Muslims of Indian subcontinent that I am familiar with are all converted Hindu, and for the most part I remain unconvinced that they have been able to exorcize the inner Hindu out of them; though they may pretend and go through the motions of Hindus but their rituals and genuflections have remained quite Hindu. As a matter of fact in the Muslim Middle-East the Arabs routinely address Muslim-named individuals from the subcontinent as Hindu.
Finally democracy, the origin of word itself comes to us from the ancient Athens, long before the Aryans came into the subcontinent. Ancient Hindus of the time may have practiced a from of democracy, the so called panchayat (a collection of 5 elders of the village) gather together to solve the communal quarrels, conflicts, and issues most locally; an ideal system, and not at all democracy, but a rule by the revered elders of a small community, or a village.
I just don't think India can be governed by the current legacy setup, a British bequest; for it is full of corruption, and most inefficient; a burden to growth and prosperity. And it is a so called democracy, in name only, but for all intents and purposes increasingly ruled by a cabal.

Truth is that thousands of years back whole world was vaidik (sanatan Hindu ) means full of knowledge including America , England etc. Only Sanskrit was the language. Original name of America was Amar aikya and Alaska was Alkshy. Arabhusthan is now arabastan. Makkeshwar Mahadev temple is now Mecca. Ary is a Sanskrit dhatu . (Grammer ) Are, aari (aari means saw ) , aary , Arya means the one who cuts all hurdles just like aari ( saw ) go ahead with yog and bhakti and becomes one with the parneshwar.All this I came to know in side due to practice of meditation . So aarya have not come from out side India but any one who worship parmeshwar by any good means , any path , is aary. We need a spiritual guru to know all this. .Books and lectures can give only information not knowledge. If we want complete knowledge , we have to practice Gyan, bhakti Karm (selfless ) service , yog and classical music. DHARM means duty ! e. g. A Doctor's Dharm is to treat patient , Singer 's Dharm is to sing . So Hindu is a Dharm as it says love all , respect all . BTW I treat my patients , I serve them , never charge fees ,I serve my neighbor Mr Parvej Khan and his family , I never descriminate. I never charge fees from Parvej Khan and his family members but Islam is not a Dharm it is "samprday " means you must have faith only in allaah and paigamber otherwise you have no right to live. / Now India is getting it's original make up , now India is following it's soul. Previously India was vishw guru (world 's teacher ) and world power . A few examples are after 2014 , we have made more than 100 dams, more than 50 power plants , in 70 years we made only 20thousand KMS road while in these 8 years we made 60 thousand KMS road and so on. /. Corruption is very much in Pakistan specially during army rule . In India it is reduced now . You are right , Most of the politicians and officers are corrupt in India but now still , corruption is reduced. /Last but not least , originally you are also Indian and original America was also established by Indians .
