what's confusing to me and idk how developers do it But how do they make a transition from normal gameplay to battle engine wirh a little animation like in earthbound there's this black spiral that fills the screen and fades out to transition to the battle engine and in Undertale you stop with the little "!" and the soul flickers and moves until it stops next to the "FIGHT" button and i already got how battle works but to transition it is confusing to me
I think I sorta figured out. You gotta declare a function that gets frisk current position so that when the game decides that firsk encounters an enemy that animation plays before it switches to battle engine. And in that function the SOUL spawns and deletes itself 2 times and 3rd time it deletes Frisk and makes black background and then the SOUL moves to the bottem left where the FIGHT button is located. after you make that function you put it inside the gamestate manager so that when frisk encounters it plays the animation right before it switches to battle state The actual coding is something I can't explain because I am not a professional LMAOO @@kkibi

wdym, like play less? look where it plays the sound and check if the index of the letter is divisible by two maybe? that should make it play less probably
idk if you've already done this because i'm 4 months late, but what i did was add if (old_draw_char 1= draw_char) { char_counter += 1; if (char_counter >= 4) { char_counter = 0; audio_play_sound(txtb_snd[page], 10, false); } } so char_counter >= 4 makes it so that the sound plays once every four letters that are being displayed, and char_counter = 0; resets it

Hey i got a litle question are you going to make a tutorial for like interacting with something and it change the background like a lever that make spike go down. Hope you understand what i mean and your video are very good
probably not but i can give you a basic explanation on how you could do that. the spikes in undertale are actually objects, not a part of the background. so first there would be a lever that would check if the player was next to it and they pressed z or enter, then that would change a variable called activated_spikes stored in an object called spike. in the spike step event change the sprite to the spiked animation or the non spiked animation depending on activated spikes variable. then also make it so the collider is activated once activated spikes is true. make sure that the spike object inherits oWall also so that the player doesn't collide with it.

I found a way to decrease the HP stat.
make a bullet object and copy and paste this code into it:
