    1970s, still using soviet jets. MiG-21...

      Howard Lau Yeah in 2001 Hainan Island incident a Shenyang J-8 Strike Fighter collided with the US navy EP-3E Aircraft. The reason was the Chinese J-8 jet bumped the wing of the larger, slower, and less maneuverable EP-3E. Talks a lot about their quality of Planes and Pilots. It reminds me of the Soviet Tactic of colliding planes if the guns and Missiles of the Aircraft don't work. Kinda like the Japanese Kamikazes of WW2. They really haven't changed much.

      @@actisac wtf was a EP3E doing in Hainan island??? firing on it would have caused war, so no its different to Kamikazes or USSR, WangWei used his life to defend his country's sovereignty with no other options, plus that EP3 got disassembled and "for ease of shipping", thanks america for sending a gift like that

    China should still maintain the F-7/J-7 fighter. These are good durable and proven fighters which can still play a significant role in safeguarding China's airspace. With the introduction of the modern J-10 and Sukhoi fighters, the F-7 can play a supportive role to these new chinese fighters.

    The Chinese have redesigned and rebuilt an airframe that was the pinnicle of performance. There's nothing wrong with that. They have built factory fresh machines called the Chengdu J-7. This video is misleading.

    • @PTPLauthor
      @PTPLauthor 8 лет назад +2

      +AugustusLarch No matter how many upgrades you add to the Fishbed, it's still a design that first flew before Sputnik. The short legs of the design, lack of truly state-of-the-art avionics and weapon systems, and lack of stealth makes me think that even with a 25:1 or even 100:1 ratio, they're going to be outmatched by modern fighters. Modern fighters can shoot BVR, which can thin a swarm significantly and then plant doubts in the minds of those who survive the initial wave of Slammers. Seeing a bunch of your regiment explode into greasy black fireballs can snap any fighter-jock back to cold reality pretty quick.
      That being said, I have no desire to see the PRC ever have to go against any other air force. I don't like war at all.

      ***** An A-6 is no easy meat. After they drop their bomb load the A-6 can out turn most fighters. They can duck missiles as well and have chaff and decoy flares.

    • @lxsc9080
      @lxsc9080 9 лет назад

      AugustusLarch I doubt it could do anything its slow and it cant turn and it cant climb thats why th navy wanted to replace it with the F14.

    • @AugustusLarch
      @AugustusLarch 9 лет назад +1

      ***** The Intruder was a tremendously successful aircraft. The only reason they didn't order more is the economy required multi-use aircraft. F-14's were the crap. Designed around a weapons system that was only fired once in combat(by Iran) and missed.

    • @lxsc9080
      @lxsc9080 9 лет назад +1

      AugustusLarch You imbecile the F-14 was the most feared aircraft for Iran. They lost ONE and scored over 80 kills. The F-14 is one of the "special" aircraft while most aircrafts lock up on high speed and maneuver like a brick the F-14 got more maneuverable with speed.
      The Combat record of the F-14 is spotless and it has many kills. It was undefeated in South korea and red flag war games.
      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iranian_aerial_victories_during_the_Iran-Iraq_war
      There are other links to show how good it was in Bosina serbia us iraq war AND Israel. The F-14 blew the intruder out of the water. Pilots HATED the intruder it was slow cumbersome and could not climb. It wasn't even good at ground attack thats why the navy wanted to fit F-14s for naval ships. The pilots HATED the "dogfish"

  • @smacman68
    @smacman68 13 лет назад +1

    It makes me chuckle when I think of these going up against an F-15C, an F-18F or, if I dare, an F-22 Raptor. The Chinese still fly this thing in active service! So do several other air forces. I suppose they would make decent target drones for us to use. The only advantage they would have would be sheer numbers. We couldn't reload quick enough. I think there are like 5k of these things. An Aegis cruiser could empty her magazines and still not get them all. Be fun to fly though

    @segregator236 Sure it is. Anything Chinese in the air is nothing more than target drones for US military fighters. It's not only hardware, but tactics and support as well. I will grant the strength of the ground forces. The ChiCom main battle tank is as fine as any in the world. And it's not just me. Ask any competent military specialist, and they will all say the same thing. I know, your going to say "ignorant, arrogant American" , but it's true, and deep down you know it.
