I've got over 150hrs on switch in the original HoH and there is alot of copy and paste ideas form the 1st game in HoH2. Still has it's own feel & im liking it very much!
the game looks really interesting and your showcase was awesome! It does have a demo, so I am gonna try it out + it has a small sale of 15% till 01.21, so colour me tempted to say the least
I bought it last week 30 hours in now and i absolutely love it, is there room for improvements yes, i have only beaten the game once. I highly reccomend it, coop with friends is amazing!
Class stats - The stats each class gives you is as follows, per level- Wizard - +3 Spell power Ranger - +3 attack power Warrior - +3 health Sorceror - +0.1 mana regen Warlock - +3 resistances Paladin - +3 arnour Rogue - Reduce trap damage Also believe every 5 levels, you earn a stat bonus for all characters. E.g. a Paladin at level 5 will give everyone a +3 to strength, Ranger +3 dex and Wizard +3 int.
So elemental breakfast and other food things have passive effects you can see in the character>stats>effects tab I think it is. Same with buffs from monoliths and stuff. When they say an imp appeared, they are usually back the way you came from. So if you retrace your steps you should find it. They're kind of gnomish. It gives you a ton of gold. I believe any class can actually drop traps using the skill on the tome off hand item. The wizard starts with this. He actually plays a lot like the hunter but with more mana and stronger skills, but less based on weapon damage. You do get all sorts of magical ranged weapon attack tho. The ranger is kinda weak it seems, at least early game, compared to other classes.
The imp can upgrade the lvl of equipment, give you resources or gold thats all i have seen so far from him. I have sunken a shitton of time in a short span, i absolutely love this game! You can also play the wizard with an ice staff and spam the attack and occasionally use spells, at lvl 10 my friend chose the upgrade of cast speed and weapon speed and he goes pretty crazy with it. I personally enjoy the conjurer upgrade for wizard
I think the last time I heard you complain about breakable boxes with loot in them in the environment was about 4 months ago during your 13Z video. You were very sassy about them in that one, and ever since then, when I see breakable boxes in a game you're playing, I just think, "Uh oh. Dan's not going to like that...". I'm actually really surprised you've managed to resist complaining about them again (at least in the videos I've been watching) until now!
This is an amazing game, as far as I've gotten into it. If you've played this one, you MUST play the first one, Heroes of Hammerwatch (1). It has 2 DLC, plus a dlc class (decent one, imo). The base game alone is amazing, but the DLC's bring many different mechanics in. I really hope you consider making a video of the first one!
I highly recommend playing with KBM put some spells on mouse buttons and enable a permanent slightly transparent map to show at all times so you don't miss things on the map, dont go full out dmg, resistances are so importand specially later on you need to run through traps to get to the boxes with items and trinkets. So far i like the rogue the least sorcerer and wizard are sooo good. I already have 30 hours in the game only beaten it once when in coop. Try and focus on 1 or 2 characters at the beginning until you beat the game once and then divert, it saves some time!
Not sure if absurd amount of content is accurate. Fun game until you beat it for the first time with one of the classes (20-25 hours). Unless you like doing the same runs over and over with no changes except bigger numbers.
If a video is sponsored, it will always have "Ad" in the title and I will always mention it in the first 30 seconds! If I do get sponsored for a game, it's pretty much only ever for 1 video also so if I make more videos afterward it's just because I like it. Ballionaire was never sponsored. It's quite rare I do sponsored videos honestly, I only did 6 last year in total. You might wonder why I specifically said it's not sponsored in this video: I understand that when I compliment a game a lot that some people might be wary and wonder if I was paid to say so (I wouldn't compliment a game just because I was paid though). So I just try to get ahead of that and assure everyone that I actually just like it!
@Haelian legend, top explanation, thanks! Your channel has been my primary source for discovering games, so I'll continue buying with confidence because of your reply. (I was dubious when my ballionaire experience wasn't as fun as yours! But I appreciate there's many reasons my experience can differ from yours).
Reading reviews and watching gameplay, this seems like a very direct copy and paste from the first game with just less content overall? HoH 1 does have DLC bumping its numbers up, but that doesn't really seem like a fair pushback on what I'm saying when HoH 2 has so little original content to speak of. Hoping that their community deservedly pushes back on the state of the game and brings about some positive change.
Not picking up every main objective in the game is a bit dangerous for this one, I'd say try and use the map more because you're leaving tons of equipment/valuables behind Dan Q_Q
I don't think it's really possible for me to "show" all of the content in one video... 7+ characters each with unique skill sets, equip load outs and talents that need to be utilized. As stated in the video the game incentivizes you to use every class so based on that alone it's way more than your average ~$20 roguelike.
@ But I don't know what your benchmark for "a ton of content" is! Everyone will have a standard, to me the game clearly has a lot to do even from an overview perspective. Looking at the play times in the Steam reviews often gives a good idea of how much time people are getting out of the game if that helps you.
Oh and go to settings. To add map overlay. Very helpful
Ooo
@Haelian also in settings towards the bottom, always on HUD which will show you the resources you have collected so far
I spent so much time on the demo as a wizard that I forgot it was just a demo. Might be time to actually get the full game 😅
The demo progress doesn't carry over 💀
@@natefoldan yep, it's 2025. No save carry over is silly.
@@natefoldan I don't think they meant it in the way you think they did
Love the look and feel of this game, reminds me alot of Gauntlet but with Roguelike thrown in also. Would love to see you do more progression in it
I am interested in seeing more of this!
hours and hours into the first game and directly was surprised when the second came out last week, love it!
11:00 Dan: I've never seen this bird before in my life!
The pixel art is incredible in this. It's nice when games fully commit to it like this.
I picked this one up myself, and holy hell is it a deep dive. Gonna be playing it for probably years to come. Very fun.
This somehow feels nostalgic without ever playing it, what a treat

Yay glad you ended up looking at this one, commented hoping you did! This onecis ab absolute gem
me and my friend hopped on this and been having a blast it’d be dope to see more vids on it

Dan there's a map lmao...

LOL
This looks so cute!
More!
I hope this release this for console I loved the first one.
I played HOH1 and I love all this attention HOH2 is getting
Psa for steam deck proton 7.0.6 seems to be the way to go for good performance
It’s definitely a buy
Damn this game plays much better with mouse & keyboard D:
It's so cursed trying to aim with gamepad lol
Hi, if u level up a character, you give passives to all classes
Hello friends and lovers? What is the lovers part supposed to mean?
Is there a dragon in the thumbnail? Ive never seen that enemy in this game??
23:33 if you like hunter style characters does that mean you’d probably play an Archer in Skyrim if you ever played it?
Did you play this on steamdeck?
Is there a "auto-attack" and "auto-aim" in this game? Like other rogue games like, halls of torment?

Not a sponsored game; can I please ask which games were/are sponsored?
I'm guessing Ballionaire...
If a video is sponsored, it will always have "Ad" in the title and I will always mention it in the first 30 seconds! ...there's a map?
@Haelian there is a map indeed, idk how you toggle it on gamepad, but I'd play MKB and not gamepad with this game, much more intuitive
Certainly looks like an awful lot of content.
Sorry, don't have time to watch this one! Too busy playing HoH 2 😅
Is the title clickbait? for someone who has only played a few hours where's the "absurd amount of content" i'm actually curious.
I don't think it's really possible for me to "show" all of the content in one video...

@Haelian i just want to know if this game actually has a ton of content. Every video I find it's somebody low level reviewing the game.
@ But I don't know what your benchmark for "a ton of content" is! Everyone will have a standard, to me the game clearly has a lot to do even from an overview perspective.
