Beautiful work. 1st Combat Camera Squadron rocks, as always! Love those big ol' C-17s. They are the unsung heroes of the fleet. Whenever I see those big gray birds lined up on the tarmac, I know all's right with the world.

Stationed at Charleston 3/64-2/66. There when the 1608th became the 437th on 1Jan66, strictly a letterhead change. No change of Command ceremony. There on 14Aug65 when the "City of Charleston" the first C141 assigned to the base arrived. The next day the First AirCav Division started loading troops at Charleston harbor onto the troop transport USNS Maurice Rose for Vietnam, and sailed 16Aug65. Then we had some of the casualties from the battle of Ia Drang brought home Nov65.

I lived in North Charleston off of Dorchester Rd. We would see C-17s and C-141s ,when they were still in service, making touch and go's and final approaches onto runway 33 all the time

Cool! Last summer, I was at Charleston, and I saw a lot of these giants flying overhead.

I watched Globemasters taking off and landing at AGS one time and was amazed at how little of the runway it took for it to rotate. I don't know if it was loaded or not but it was incredible to watch.

I much prefer to see these birds rotate slowly and climb in a relaxed fashion. The last few airshows I have visited have shown awesome climbing skills but I can't help but think about the added stress and reduced lifespan of these birds. PT.
