Thank you Simon for making this video! Hope this music will comfort those who love the classical music that can't attend the live concerts during this difficult time! Esmé Quartet
Esme Quartet에스메 콰르텟, I cannot simply put into words how your music has touched as well as struck me. I must say this experience was of a completely different sort than that from just hearing to the recorded album music. All those perfect harmonies in the music that you hear was only possible with the harmonies of the four bodies moving as one, feeling each other when to enter when to exit. Oh, those moments in the molto adagio, I sometimes think, is the quintessence of the most complex and triumphant human feelings and values that music can ever give to us. Along with the second movement of his last piano sonata Op. 111, this piece appears to me an expression of sheer appreciation (maybe to God) for letting him compose and live music. Ah, how much musical devotion did Beethoven put in into his last years, and being able to be part of his music through your performance, Esme Quartet, is just surreal.
The late Beethoven String Quartets still gives music theorists headaches! Harmonies that just should not work, and yet, they do! Excellent performance here! Bavis!!!
Maybe it is just me. I find that the Korean Classical musicians, the orchestras, choirs, vocalists, conductors, etc., etc. have a real and deep affinity for the works of Beethoven. Maybe it is due to the pathos of Korean history and of Beethoven's own life that forges the connection. I don't know. Maybe it really is just me, but performances like this one by this Korean ensemble, move me mightily. Thank You. Very sincerely, Thank You.
Beautiful acoustics in this holy space. Keeping more distance between the musicians and without an audience enhances the quality of the sound of each individual instrument, I feel. Fantastic!!
Thank you so much for this. The excellence and depth of your playing brings this music to life more completely than I have ever heard it. Bless you and the soul of Beethoven.
This is truly one of the most synchronized and well thought out renditions of this great Beethoven quartet I have ever heard. The beautiful church setting with these angelic ladies brought me to heavenly places. Thank you so much, Esme Quartet
what a treat to see these passionate young women performing some of my favorite music the first violin nearly levitated a couple times , and the cellist's face expressed the depth of her understanding and involvement in this sometimes painful piece THANK YOU
Einfach wundervoll!
It has a warmth that can be felt in the viewing together with the hearing. It's like they have a shared lap filling all the space between them, holding the music in it, strengthening the unity of the musical offspring in all its foursome diversity, nurturing its development with the strokes of their wands, four in one, one in four, ex pluribus unum.
Oh my god. I've just discovered my new favorite quartet. I am so excited to hear, someday soon I hope, Esmé Quartet's complete recordings of all the Beethoven string quartets.
This was the first Beethoven quartet I ever heard, when I was about 18 I think, a very long time ago. It was mind blowing and has always held a special place for me even though my knowledge of chamber music both as player and listener has since vastly expanded. Last week my partner treated me to a concert in the Amsterdam Concertgebouw in which it was the main item, a special treat. I am allergic to perfumes and the person who came to sit next to me after the interval was drenched in an overwhelming sample, causing me torment and subsequent migraine, totally destroying the Beethoven. So this evening it was rather special to discover your wonderful recorded performance. It has gone a long way to make amends. You are a beautifully balanced quartet, good both to watch and to hear. So much enjoyed. The video is also excellent.
Great interpretation unlike most of other quartets who will just strike hard and accent everywhere without understanding Beethoven's complexity and enjoying the little details in the score. Looking forward to other Beethoven late quartets performed by you guys.
ruclips.net/video/sFS1bixdDj8/видео.html Here is another Beethoven playing. Esmé quartet starts to play Beethoven string quartet in E minor Op.59 No.2 at 37:55. They won the first prize in this competition.:)
Wow! Perfect! I've had the quartets, by S.F.s Alexander Q on continuous rotation in my car for fifteen years. Their 132 has been my go-to interpretation. Til now... Also, extremely well produced and mixed.
Was able to listen and watch again, this time on large screen with great audio. This audio video feast has a lifetime of listening for me and that is not only because of Beethoven’s ability to build in depth but also because of the quality of your performance. The teamwork, musicianship and interpretation is outstanding. Thank you so much for recording and sharing this concert. Again, I look forward to any to recordings you make and hope to attend a concert of yours one day. With gratitude and much appreciation, wishing you all health and joy.

And this is a perfect example of how practice enables freedom to expression and beyond

A young string quartet plays like a mature quartet... how can be possible.? Congratulations to the Esme Quartet!!!
This melody really reflects late stage of Beethoven, showing his inner feeling of human life. Four musicians are catching the spirit wonderfully.
Danke Danke Danke, das war eine Sternstunde der Interpretation!

Simply sublime! So beautifully nuanced, delicately played and muscular only when needed!

Nell'ascoltare il ringraziamento che Beethoven rivolge al suo D-O . Non dubito che dall'alto dei cieli siamo scese lacrime.
