It's this thing called Game Genie, which let's you enter 6 or 8 lettered codes that change or alter the code of the game. Many emulators support Game Genie and have it built into them. In this case, these 2 codes that I entered modified the game to make enemies randomly spawn.
No. But I do remember discovering a code for SMB2 that did randomly spawn enemies. I lost it however after the file got corrupted and I don't remember what the code was.
