- I needed a break from embroidering that corset from my last video, so don't worry, that's still on it's way! I just needed to give my hands some time. What did you think of this blouse? I am going to start a series for my vintage/thrifted/made goth-ish cloths, if you have any name suggestions lmk!
Pattern I used today is Vogue 9485 from 1958.

I'm obsessed with your styling of the piece! You're going to be the coolest goth gardener in town
The blouse turned out super cute. 1950's but make it goth it's my prefer vibe 😊
I love how the handsewn buttonholes look, I think it's a lot better than the welt buttonholes 😅
Honestly I agree. Just feels more personal too 🖤
So cute! It's totally your vibe💙🤩
So cool. Love it
I'm so glad you didn't do the welt buttonholes, as those are a bit too formal a detail to go with that gingham fabric.
also if you WERE going to do them, you would need to do them before attaching the facing.
You fold the welts
mark the rectangular window for each hole
align the welts with raw edges toward the center of the window on the RIGHT side of the fabric,
sew down the length of each welt, making sure to start and stop EXACTLY on the corners of your marked windows
Cut your slit, but STOP SHORT by the width of the window. cut diagonally to the ends of your stitching lines, your slit should be shaped like >---< with triangular tabs pointing in at each end.
flip your welts in, pushing the ends behind to turn the end tabs back. Press this crisply. you can then sew as close to the edges as possible, or whip the ends of the windows to prevent the tabs coming out.
THEN you attach your facings. Mark the corners of your welts on the facings and cut your slits the same you did before with the >---< shape
turn back the seam allowances of the windows on the facings and whip stitch them to the seam lines on the welts...
if this sounds too complicated, yes it is. that's why it's only really done on formal garments.
Thank you so much for the tips!!! I really need to experiment with these more cause I can not wrap my head around how that would work if you put the facing on after, like, wouldn't that make it so the facing is blocking the button from going into the hole? More experiments to be had for sure. 🖤
@@CasketCreated that's what the matching windows in the facing are for.
@@ashfordwyrd7458 ooooooooohhhhh
that top turned out great! good save on the button holes...ugh, ive done that and its totally is frustrating...love the look, nice work!
Thanks so much!
It's gorgeous! Now I want to get some more sewing practice in so I can make something that cute! (Also, black, white, and red are my colors, so your channel fits flawlessly!)
thank you! making your own cloths is just so worth it, happy sewing!
It turned out so cute! I'm sorry if you've mentioned this in a previous video but I've been curious ever since I saw your amazing bellbottoms - what's your history with sewing, if you don't mind elaborating? Pants are hard and they looked amazing.
I haven't really talked about it much yet so thanks for asking! I've always been a creative child, but I started cosplaying around the early 00's learned lots and lots of crafts and found sewing in a mild form. I went to art school for a while but dropped out cause that sh* is expensive!! I really didn't start sewing to make cloths until about 2020 when I got tired of the cloths I could find in stores and had the audacity to think "I could just make my own cloths." So I started thrifting patterns and fabric and here we are! I work by a lot of trial and error and sheere spite to finish a project sometimes. After a few garments I decided to start my channel. Maybe I'll inspire someone else to make their own cloths 🖤🖤🖤
So I know you probably made the project a little while ago considering it is April and it is starting to feel like spring. I am just now thinking about my own project I need to work on and finish before summer.
nah actually it was just last week 😭
Lovely work, bound buttonholes are... A learning curve. I love that you are taking the time to make clothes for function as well as fashion. And adapting the vintage patterns to your style with embroidery and material choices is so inspiring.
thank you so much 🖤
