I don't think being able to unlock classes was inherently bad. The problem was:
1) It takes hundreds of hours to unlock enough blue shards for a class.
2) Not enough character slots for every class.
3) Though not exclusive to DaD, new characters/classes, when they first come out, are usually unbalanced. So being able to unlock new classes via real money gave those who got the classes day one an advantage.
It was not that currency was needed to unlock the two classes that was necessarily bad, it was how they implemented the way you earn the blue stone shard currency. Having it double every time you go up in triumph is not a good system. Having it go up a certain amount every level, like by 25, so the first lvl is 25, second is 50, third is 75, son and so forth would have been fair but still make it so every lvl is a bit hard to get.
If they did it this way, future classes could be unlocked for 2 or 3 blue stones, or if you wanted the class now, 5 red stones. This also to me will keep there promise as to not be a greedy micro transaction company while still being able to have some sort of income.
Edit: I saw something about those that got the first one will get an emote for the campfire also, would you by chance know if that emote is the same as the one in this new coffee bundle?
buying classes on top of a $35 game was a little much. this game has me by the balls, but even I can admit there isn't enough going on to warrant that price..
$35 is pretty steep since it’s a fairly simple gameplay loop purely depending on other players for playability
I think it's worth every penny. And you can earn the points to buy the classes, it wasn't Like it was pay to win. Also I would've spent 60 if it meant supporting iron mace. Games a masterpiece. Also you gotta think games are the cheapest form of consistent entertainment. If you pay 60 bucks for a game and you play it for at LEAST 60 hours you got 1 hour of entertainment per dollar there and only increases the more you play. As opposed to maybe going out to your local bowling alley and dropping 30 bucks on a half hour game or hour Long game. You get alot more bang for your buck with gaming and people still find a way to complain.
@@SuicideSlade as other have pointed out: the "exp" required for each subsequent blue stone doubled every time, resulting in an approximate time investment (for 5 stones = 1 class) of over 100 hours played
the game is great tho dont get me wrong!
Especially if you bought the founders edition... I would expect paying the extra money now would get me all the classes... Maybe even in the future too given their legal costs and how much they could use the money right now haha
35 bucks for a game is cheap. Quit being so entitled. They deserve to make money.

The problem with unlocking with blue shard was that it take 300 hours + (and im super generous) to get one class unlock. You pretty much have to buy a class with money to play it one day. An another sad thing about that is that by doing that (like dead by day light) you become a pay to win game since some class will be more stronger than another.

@@drewweller8205 Nice reply. It’s good to see that you read 20% of the comment and decided to ignore the rest… The problem people have is not particularly the balancing. It’s the insane amount of grinding to get a class. It’s shady to say to people that they don’t need to pay for class since they can unlock them by playing, but after a couple of hours of playing, you now realize that you will not unlock the class you wanted to try unless you paid money
@drewweller8205 And by the way, if all classes were balanced, they would not have nerfed the bard so hard last patch. You need to realize it is an early access, not a full game release yet.
I saw the new madrinas bundle while I was ordering the terraria coffee set, but if I knew I could get exclusive emotes, I would have bought that too
Kinda sucks that they are now offering the same Madrinas package with the same emotes to everyone while those of us who bought it back in May didn't even have any assurance that the game is ever gonna be released.
They could have at least made different emotes for the new package to keep the exclusivity for ours... ☹

They said they were refunding the shards in the patch notes. Refunds will come at a later patch.

This could have worked if they made the blue shards a little easier to farm. I have played for probably 12 - 15 hours and I think I have only gotten 1 and a half blue shards.
When will you update the case? Or ask them when they predict the game will be back on steam? Hard to consider getting if the issue before comes back...

I went ahead and pulled the legal documents myself. The case was dismissed August 17, 2023. No fake news I logged into Pacer and pulled directly from www.wawd.uscourts.gov/

It was an acceptable compromise. There will always be people that complain about anything.
Classes should have been free from the start. The fact that it was locked on launch is something the community needs to remember going forward and stay vigilant with.

bard was extremely broken, its not way more in line with others and still a VERY strong class, just requires more skill now... and the values were also very off and too high. Especially with the buff duration it had

I think maybe all these characters should be free, but the best way to fund their game going forward is going to be selling new classes. To me that is a no brainer, don't see what was wrong with selling new classes.
The way you earn the classes takes ions. I hope they don’t cater to the people playing 8-12 hours 6 days a week. Unrealistic.

Changing blue shards is first major 'skill issue fixing' of this game. Mark these words: in next 2 years this game is gonna be lowering learning curve for casual players and punishing good plays. Everything to make game better for main playerbase. 🤷♂😢

Ah god. Just another win for crybabies. Why is it that every game is getting destroyed by vocal minority? There was nothing bad in wanting to have a grind for class unlock. The issue was about how much time and effort was put into it vs the result/goal/achievable. They just could have adjusted how much xp or what adds the xp for unlocking the classes. That was it. Simple like that. Welp at least gonna spend all the points for the emotes. at least something.
