My Alice in Chains Playlist! • Alice in Chains
In this We Die Young guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play this killer song from Alice in Chains note-for-note.
The tuning is dropped C# tuning. That is, starting from the 6th string, C# G# C# F# A# D#.
Guitarist Jerry Cantrell has some great riffs in this one. He has a very unique guitar style and comes up with some of the coolest riffs in hard rock history. The riffs in "We Die Young" are no exception. They sound massive while always retaining this eerie quality about them.
I will demonstrate how to play each of the riffs in the order that each appears on the original recording. I will also demonstrate how to play Jerry Cantrell's solo note-for-note.
I hope you guys enjoy learning this Alice in Chains early classic! Carl...

AIC will always be the ultimate grunge band. Jerry’s riffs are so purposeful and so damn fun to play! Can’t wait to get this under my fingers 🤘
Ok I get you’re a bot but this is just insulting to my intelligence
great description of jerrys riffs, they are so straight to the point and rocking, no fluff, no BS. i always felt like AIC were more of a metal band than grunge, i never sensed any punk rock in their sound like nirvana or mudhoney or Melvins or even Soundgarden. AIC were always more just straight up metal with lots of classic rock and blues influence as well. you can tell that jerry also worships ACDC, lol. but it's all immaterial anyways, the bottom line is that AIC is one of the best bands ever, certainly of the 90s era, jerry cantrell is a master songwriter! rock on jamison!
@@oxrjbizzle1984yFOR REAL
@@oxrjbizzle1984yyeah as far as grunge bands go Alice In Chains were working with a different pallet than most
You’ll never really hear many blues licks in Nirvana
all the grunge bands were quite different actually, nirvana, soundgarden, alice in chains, melvins, mudhoney, tad, stone temple pilots, i mean honestly none of these bands really sound anything alike, lol, maybe nirvana in the early days sounded similar to melvins but thats about it. they all had similar influenes but sounded so different from eachother....... @@samouellette5130
"Love hate love" is definitely the next AIC song you should do. 👌👍
Oh hell yes! This one please Carl! 🙌🤘
Layne said one time if Jerry had a technic he would ask him for help. Jerry writes such legendary riffs. And they’re not hard to play
exactly. he really embodies the phrase "less is more"
Most of the greatest songs are simply simple.
Toni iomi king of metal riffs, id say Cantrell is equally talented in that area also. Can't beat Cantrell tone. That what I call it when I hear someone that has a similar tone. CANTRELLTONE!
Same with Deftones guitarist
Carl, I must say even though I’ve played for 38 years it’s cool to see a Chanel where the teacher really in depth answers a lot for those of us who love all music! Thank you!!
Thanks so much Carl! you rock brother. more AIC is always appreciated my friend!
Legendary Song from a Legendary Band and a Legendary Guitar Teacher teaching it ❤️.
I am not crazy! I know he swapped those numbers. I knew it was 1216. One after Magna Carta. As if I could ever make such a mistake. Never. Never! I just - I just couldn’t prove it. He covered his tracks, he got that idiot at the copy shop to lie for him. You think this is something? You think this is bad? This? This chicanery? He’s done worse. That billboard! Are you telling me that a man just happens to fall like that? No! He orchestrated it! Jimmy! He defecated through a sunroof! And I saved him! And I shouldn’t have. I took him into my own firm! What was I thinking? He’ll never change. He’ll never change! Ever since he was 9, always the same! Couldn’t keep his hands out of the cash drawer! But not our Jimmy! Couldn’t be precious Jimmy! Stealing them blind! And HE gets to be a lawyer? What a sick joke! I should’ve stopped him when I had the chance! …And you, you have to stop him! You

hello very good video !!! I have the guitar tuned in C# and from what I see you have it tuned in Eb, in other videos I saw that many play it in C# and in others in Eb, for that matter Jerry uses both tunings, very good work of yours, congratulations and greetings from Buenos Aires Argentina...

Hey Carl, can we get a Machinehead by Bush guitar lesson? 🤘🏽
It Ain’t Like That please!!
7:20 Cool mesh
Could you please do motorbreath by Metallica
Do Mary Jane by megadeth PLEASE
What's the "rig" under this? Obviously high gain and then some but is it a plug-in or an actual amp/pedal? As a valve amp user (usually more of a classic clean bluesy style) I'd be interested in seeing how I might get into this ballpark with my amps ( HiWatt DR103). It is going to have to be a pedal but I'd be interested in suggestions.
Solo @12:35
AIC riffs were fucking awesome
Hey Carl, What distortion are you using? Crunchy!!
do you think theres any hope for someone who only finger picks i've tried using a pick but i just can't make it work it feel so forgein and im constantly hitting string i don't intend to any advice or should i just stick to finger picking

I find myself wanting to just slide up a fret on these bends (sorta Warren DiMartini = or George Lynch-style) because it seems to keep me from bending it funny. I know that's part of the ugliness of it but I like that it's more likely in tune. ha ha
Pls bleed the freak that first album kills
