"Megatron's Sentence" (A Transformers Comic Dub)

- I rediscovered this comic strip earlier tonight - and as a die-hard fangirl of the franchise, I decided to give this one a voiceover!
So... yeah. Megatron's about to be executed for his crimes against Cybertron. Ultra Magnus isn't happy. Nobody is. (Well... those who hate Megatron might be happy, but you know what I mean. 😅)
Honestly, I started getting choked up while putting this together - and I don't think including the Armada soundtrack helped much!
This is supposed to be a fan-made conclusion for the "Transformers: Lost Light" IDW comic book series, which was written by James Roberts. So, for any fans of the comic series, I hope you enjoy!
PS: This was the only comic strip that the artist made, so please DO NOT ask about a Part 2!!!

That’s crazy how Megatron wants to die the way he wants to die, by giving the court a chance to allow him to at least die with dignity for his crimes.
IDW Megatron was truly the best itertation of the character. He had a genuine redemption arc where he does some good and even lives up to his original ideals in the Functionist Universe.
Okay, so I'm the original artist of this panel. I drew three parts to this comic, and the last two were somehow deleted from my paint program. I was so devastated that i gave up entirely.
But...
I didn't believe that anyone was interested (transformers wasn't bigger than Undertale at the time). So I might give it another try. That is, if I can even remember how the story went, lol.
Hey, if you give it another try, go for it! You’re super talented and have INCREDIBLE story-telling skills!!!! 😊
I need the rest, please!!!
I won't scream for you to indulge us. But I will say this segment was well done.
This little comic has absolutely destroyed me emotionally and I will never forget about it. This is a compliment btw 😭 it's genuinely amazing and I hope you get aother chance to redraw it! :3
@@PhoenixPrime ironically Bumblebee was going to join this court at the end of thr Optimus Prime comic.
"Redeeming a Monster" done right. He's still paying for his crimes and in all honesty he _should_ pay for them. But at the same time you really think he should be given mercy in this because of how far he's come. If this Megatron and his old self ever met it would be like night and day; Megatron isn't just doing good things, he's change substantially. In any other instance he's be an Autobot hero, but his past is too great to ignore. That's why Magnus is so hurt by this decision but he believes Megatron should be given another chance. He's truly _earned_ that chance in his eyes. But Megatron himself understands that no matter what good he's done, the evil he spread lead to a lot of senseless death and destruction. As much as Megatron may want to live he knows in his spark he can't and it's heartbreaking to see some accept their end even if the person that they once were who committed those crimes is no longer a part of them.
And so, the gladiator of Tarn was executed in front of an audience of billions.
Who just showed that they are just as bad, if not worse, than Megatron because they are actively CHOOSING to take a life when they do not need to.
War crimes against Cybertron? Hardly. Megatron should have reminded them of Empurata and other rights violations that those supposedly 'better' people did in the past.
It breaks my heart how Megatron and the Lost Light grew to love each other despite their tumultuous history (putting it lightly). They'd all likely break Megatron out of prison if he so wished, but he didn't. They respected him enough to let him die...
So, anyway, I'm gonna pretend Rodimus and the gang broke him out of prison and they lived happily ever after.
Believe it or not, IDW managed to pull off the bittersweet ending- Megatron being sentenced (and, it’s implied, executed)- AND the happy ending. Before the Lost Light went back to Cybertron on its last voyage, a quantum duplicate of the ship, along with everything and everyone aboard, was created and shunted to an alternate universe. Megatron was included in that number, and the whole thing- the comic and IDW’s long run with Transformers as a whole- with Megatron and Rodimus talking about how long it will take to explore the universe. Rodimus thinks it’ll take forever; Megatron just chuckles and says that sounds about right.
@@SamaritanPrime A truly perfect way to end the Lost Light's story. A tragedy, rescued at the last minute by an insane feat of luck and science we've come to expect of them.
"I wish to see MInimus one last time before I go."
I literally started crying.
I always wondered how Megatron died in the Idw comics and even though this is fanmade I will consider it canon
He's actually in an alternative universe helping bots on Cybertron
If Optimus was there he would reason with the council
@@melodyhendricks1973 claro, porque el salto cuantium logro dividir a la nave en dos realidades, en una se quedó y en la otra fue condenado :( 💔
@@Megatron_Of_Tarn both ships are in the same universe. Remember they discovered Rewind had survived
As far as I'm concerned he's imprisoned... in case they ever need him.
"Old friend..." That one got me in the feels. 💔
Dumb council. If you tell a former warlord- especially MEGATRON- to "tie up lose ends". If he was still as bad as before, that's BEGGING for problems.
Indeed, they've pretty much given him plenty of time to get rescued or escape on his own if he wanted to. And even if he didn't, others would try which would have led to more meaningless bloodsed.
"Hey, Rodimus? Changed my mind. Bust me out."
"GOT IT, DUDE. MAGNUS, WHIRL, LET'S DO THIS THING!"
Council: "... Son of a bi--"
*"Til All are One"*
The IDW Comics 2005 run’s writers and authors really made this arc’s ending truly ambiguous and is up to viewers and readers to decide…
I found you through your amazing Handplates dubs, and now I find out you do Transformers dubs just as my special interest shifts to Transformers. Truly this is a momentous day where I am once more blessed with your talent. And now, having watched this video, I'm going to go cry blood now.
It would have been a tragically beautiful epilogue to this if they showed his statue on Necroworld; a transition day to night sequence where his hologram fades out after sundown.
Thank you. Personally, I like the idea of his fate being kept from us. If he was to be executed, this is how it would happen.
One shall stand...
One shall fall😥
This is such a bittersweet moment. On one hand it feels wrong to kill megatron now that is actually redeemed and has more potential to do good across the universe than to be shutdown(personally I would have preferred that he be banished from Cybertron forever or something since it would probably hurt him just as much and it could be an inflection of how Megatronous exiled himself to atone for his sins). But on the other hand this is HIS choice, and it’s hard to argue that he doesn’t deserve it especially from the eyes of his victims. Cybertron may also be better off with him gone to finally bring closure to this bloody chapter in its history and serve as a cautionary tale of what happens when corruption gets so bad.
If only the movies were this compelling
I know this was inspired by the IDW comics, but I dont remember Megs and Magnus becoming buddies. Nonetheless, this is a powerful story. Megatron is finally paying the consequences of his actions, fully accepting of his misdeeds and wishing to atone. It’s sad, but kind of peaceful in an odd way.
they definitely become buddies in IDW: Magnus praises Megatron's qualities and touches him a lot, there's even a panel where it looks like they are about to kiss!
Magnus was also trying his had at poetry, something Megatron has done in IDW. During the finale of Lost Light, Megatron revealed that he was the one who made Ultra Magnus's favorite poem Afterlight.
You flare, you flicker, you fade.
And in the end all your tomorrows become yesterdays.
Crazy enough, this poem was also the favorite of Megatron's old then later former friend and future leader of the Wreckers, Impactor.
"Whatever you do, dont look away."
megs....*crying*
Dammit... This makes me totally cry! 😥💔
I will cry if we get a animated series of the idw comics😭
Seeing that tragedy on-screen would be even more heartbreaking than reading the comics. Especially since it would have voice acting too to break our hearts. 😢
Wow... I never would have expected this...
This is quite emotional, but I do find it hard to take Megatron of all bots at face value. How many times has he revived throughout the franchise? I'd expect him to jump into Magnus's mind at the last moment or something else like that.
wow megatron has accepted his fate. Is there one where maybe Magnus kidnaps megatron and takes him beyond the council to save him?
Dam 😢 this hits
Wish I can collab with you. Great video!
I feel like this would've been better if Optimus prime was in this but I'm assuming he's dead in this comic.
Im crying 😭
But when Megatron was a enemy i hate him
But this ,this can make me cry 😭
I will save megatron
Poor megatron it to sad😢
We need partners in crime part 3 please dude
Page 1 hasn’t even come out yet. 😂
@@PhoenixPrime Oke 🙂👍
I wonder about what they going to do with Megatron's body after execution.
Smelting pool?
@@Cdr2002 If they just throw his body out to the space. Megatron would face a bigger foe.
@@Derek1955 Galvatron is a different person in this continuity and Unicron is like… a mech driven by a space wizard, or something
@@Cdr2002 Pretty much. Yeah, they got rid of the "mystical" elements of the mythos.
😢😢😢
Why does megs have an autobot symbol?
He switched sides in the IDW universe. Doesn't erase his past, but he wanted to make up for all he did by siding with the faction that did everything they could to stop his terror when he was a Decepticon.
