We were driving without speeding or anything when we got stopped by several police cars. Problem was some locals who did not like we stop near beautiful lake. I live in rural Sweden and a few years ago when I was at the police station to renew my passport an old guy walked in carrying a rifle - apparently it had been his fathers and this guy wanted it destroyed as he didn't have a license for it. This would probably have caused quite a scene if it happened in Stockholm but here they just casually told him that he should at least call ahead before walking into the police station holding a rifle.
My father is Swedish, he's been beat up by Swedish police officers after he rode a bike around with no headlight and it was dark outside. In the US he was stopped in a rural town when an officer thought he and his friend looked suspicious just driving around the same area over and over again (they were trying to find the motel they were staying at) and the officer was very respectful and even helped him with directions.

I've been living in Finland for a bit over two years now and I can't imagine myself ever leaving. It's hard to put it into words proper but things just seem more sensible up here. Absolutely beautiful country filled with great people, wouldn't give it up for the world. I only wish the language would be a bit easier to learn and for mosquitoes to go extinct.

That second cop would have been checking the back seat from the other side while the other is distracting you. Just keep in mind next time you get pulled over.

In all honesty, it's less of a joke than it seems. Heard a story of a girl from the U.S. that travelled through Europe. First time she got stopped by the police (I forgot which country exactly. It was eastern European), she was super nervous and the police officers started calming her down after they saw on her ID where she was from.

I was a cop in london. We had American cops on an exchange visit and I shit you not refused to go on patrol as they didnt have guns. I'm American and I love watching poliisi videos. In one episode the police drove a drunk guy home and he thanked them. In another episode the police asked a person in a car to drive to the station to get a ticket because "the highway is dangerous" and the person actually did it and they weren't even escorted there.

Here in Serbia if the local police officer after checking your surname on the driver license asks you if you know a certain guy friend of his and it turns out to be one of your relatives they just let you pass in the name of friendship 😂
Same happened to my father a while back. My uncles friends child is a police officer who hadnt seen my uncle in a long time asked my dad if he was my uncle. Dad replied that Im his brother, cop just told him to say hey from him and my dad continued his trip.

This reminds me of riding with my uncle and we were pulled over by an Alaska State Trooper. He asked about any guns in the vehicle. My uncle had a loaded .45 and a tactical 12ga w/ slugs for bears. We were going out fishing. Cop was super cool about it, and briefly took the guns back to his rig to run the serial numbers quick, brought em back when he was done, and we were on our way. No muss, no fuss.
Technically Alaska is part of the US but the way the state operate is different from any other state. Cops out here are pretty cool over all. Not to mention the general population in Alaska is better armed than most cops, they know better than to get trigger happy out here. Plenty of places to literally come up missing in Alaska. Non registered guns are pretty easy to come by out here as well.
Less danger of getting shot by rural people than random thugs in the urban cities.. rural people have a head on their shoulder, also if youre straightforward with the cops, they are the chillest. People seem to forget they are humans and that cops dont want to shoot you as many suffer from PTSD, especially when they barely avoid getting shot

I hate the stereotype of officers being excessively triggerhappy. if people would just be calm, not resist, listen to instructions, and not make fast, erratic movements _(towards their waistband, specifically)_ then a good few less people would be shot.

Im from northern Sweden. Me and two friends got pulled over in one of the friend's dad's car. The cops searched the car and found .22 ammunition for a his hunting rifle in the glove box. Told us "Don't store it like that" and they let us go.

@@BenzaitenTower Absolutely incorrect. In Finland it's generally encouraged to talk about one's feelings and get treatment if needed. Mental health is taught in school. Schools and workplaces offer free therapy along with other healthcare services. Mental health problems are a valid reason to take days off. Diagnoses and medications are fairly easy to get when needed, and they don't cost insane sums. Alchoholism and depression are widespread and widely recognized. This could be considered quite a widespread thing in the west, but especially older people around here definitely deal with unaddressed mental issues and repressed emotions, among other things. It's not perfect. But as someone who has some global friends, I know for a fact I'm lucky to be from here. The reason we often skip over our own diagnoses and issues in casual conversation is because we don't want pity or padding - or I don't, at least. I could understand your opinions if you were from some religious Finnish village but you don't seem to even be Nordic at all. Wiggling your index finger at us from across the pond as if you know how our culture works is nasty.

This video is a joke and it's far from reality lol even because packing any firearm in Finland even a small hunting rifle without a license is a serious crime. Gun needs to be in a bag whole time while transporting it and cops will ask you for a gun license because it's not common at all that someone is carrying or transporting a gun in Finland or at least having it somewhere else than in a trunk lol.

This reminds me of riding with my uncle and we were pulled over by an Alaska State Trooper. He asked about any guns in the vehicle. My uncle had a loaded .45 and a tactical 12ga w/ slugs for bears. We were going out fishing. Cop was super cool about it, and briefly took the guns back to his rig to run the serial numbers quick, brought em back when he was done, and we were on our way. No muss, no fuss.
Technically Alaska is part of the US but the way the state operate is different from any other state. Cops out here are pretty cool over all. Not to mention the general population in Alaska is better armed than most cops, they know better than to get trigger happy out here. Plenty of places to literally come up missing in Alaska. Non registered guns are pretty easy to come by out here as well.

Schools and workplaces offer free therapy along with other healthcare services. Mental health problems are a valid reason to take days off. Diagnoses and medications are fairly easy to get when needed, and they don't cost insane sums. Alchoholism and depression are widespread and widely recognized. This could be considered quite a widespread thing in the west, but especially older people around here definitely deal with unaddressed mental issues and repressed emotions, among other things. It's not perfect. But as someone who has some global friends, I know for a fact I'm lucky to be from here. The reason we often skip over our own diagnoses and issues in casual conversation is because we don't want pity or padding - or I don't, at least.
