    For me the most beautiful cattle are the primitive breeds like the hungarian grey, with a more natural body: long legs, strong neck, wide head, long horns. They're usually very hardy and strong and also produce tastier and healthier meat and milk, even if they aren't as productive as modern breeds.

    Some Irish breeds of cattle you may not know due to their rarity include the Droimeann, a bred similar to Irish Moiled but are horned. Its name comes from the irish words Droim Fhionn which means White Back.
    Bó Riabhach (meaning brindle cow) is a breed which is critically endangered with only 20 females remaining
    The Kerry Cow is one of the oldest breeds of cattle in Europe. They are very close relatives of the first cattle ever brought to Ireland.
    Other Irish breeds I am sure you are already aware of include Irish Moiled and Dexter

    Jerseys can be very vey sweet in their dispositions! A pretty common breed in the USA, my favorite kind of cow. However, Holsteins. are by far the most common milk breed in the US.

    Raised an orphan Texas Longhorn heifer once. Just loved that little girl and she knew it. She kept breaking out of her pasture to sleep on the front porch. Finally one day she snuck in the house. What a mess she made. Next day she became a Texas No Horn. Finally, she was given an old house doublewide trailer to call home. She was finally happy. Never did convince her she was a cow.

      Any animal treated with respect and love will respond in amazing ways. Longhorns as a general rule are very wild and dangerous. I never get tired of the incredible coloration though. Come to the USA anytime and bring a couple Austrian Bantams!

    Your English is just fine, with all the different accents here in America You'd fit right in. Have you ever seen 'Beefalo Cattle' (when living in Tennessee a close neighbor raised both Bison and Beefalo) they're a hybrid between a Bison Buffalo and a larger breed cattle, often a big Hereford but not always. They have high protein, lower fat meat with a milder temperament than a Bison (raising Bison is a lesson in patience trying to keep them penned up).

      As a child spending my summers on my Grandparents farm in Kentucky we raised Angus (our soil here in KY. is very poor clay but due to the Karst Limestone just underneath our grass is very nutritious, high in calcium), we were the original "Organic" cattle farmers even though we didn't know what that word meant, they ate natural grass in Summer, natural Hay in winter with only occasional home grown (no herbicides/insecticides, no artificial fertilizers) grain to add nutrients and keep them fit through the cold months. Only time they got antibiotics was if they got some illness that mandated them to get healthy then no more, which was rare.

    Robert, thank you for making this lovely informative video. Very obvious, the first cows shown, the Belgium Blues are genetically modified which is very gross. This is done to use less cows per acre of land because as you say, their known for their 'double muscle production' meaning more meat. Messing around with the dna as these mad scientist and greedy, ignorant corporations do is very sad. We see cows with such huge udders they are in pain, can't barely walk and get mastitis and such regularly. So they live on antibiotics, pain relievers. Animals so stiff from huge unnatural muscles getting arthritis and such. Some cruel people say well, they'll be slaughtered anyway who cares. Every human should care. In the states there is a huge movement underway for natural, organic, nonsteroid, and non-genetically modified foods, whether animal or plant. We pray this is the way every farmer finds best. The harm these degenerate so called farms do is appalling. Your such an informative person, I hope with your work and information, you can get the word out on why genetically altering species is so wrong.

    • @HappyHuhn
      @HappyHuhn  7 лет назад +2

      Thank you very much for this great und well written comment! I really did show the Belgian Blue in this ranking because I wantet to use the chance to make people see, that cows in our days are not the same animals than cows back in the days. People will watch the video because the want to see beautiful cows, but they should also learn about the truth... and I am so happy in this hours when I can watch our tyrolean grey cattle on the mountain meadows grazing between flowers, keeping their calfs and have a wonderful summertime.... while thousands of other cattle are suffering... its so sad... but every animal which has a better life is so important!
