    I used a 240b for several years, in Iraq, and Afghanistan. I learned over time that I could lower the gas selector which controls rate of fire, and squeeze out single rounds. It took alot of practice, but hitting a man sized target with a single round at 800 meters was definitely doable. I got my experience doing this on dismounted patrols in Afghanistan. The entire reason was dealing with multiple engagements on each patrol, and having a limited ammo capacity. You don't want to get 30k into rural mountain areas, and have your biggest gun run out of ammunition.
    To the person or persons who made this weapon with a single fire option, good job!

    • @SoloRenegade
      @SoloRenegade 7 месяцев назад +20

      I could squeeze out single rounds without changing anything, just takes feel and practice. I'm sure lowering the gas helps, but can be done without it.

      They actually removed the adjustable gas regulator at some point. I carried an M240L from 2016-19 and all of our gas regulators had one setting at about 600 RPM

    • @dashhuber2901
      @dashhuber2901 7 месяцев назад +9

      @@justinmcmanus1764 I didn't know that. Got out in 08. That's actually lower than my 240 could even go, was about 700 rpm on the lowest setting. In 05 in Iraq the army gave the platoon three new barrels per 240, and we pretended they were 249s for a day before turning the old ones in. I can definitely understand why they removed the gas selector.

    So not only can you carry this in a backpack, but if you're on single fire, you have a sniper rifle with a pretty long range optic, a round that can reach that range, and switch to machine gun mode to lay down a wall of lead. And its lighter than a 240. Its the perfect machine.

I was thinking that IF we go after the unconstitutional bit by bit, we should go after the fact that WAR is a lawful purpose for the 2A, then anything else that they want to ban is void. The fact that they want to tax our rights away in some blue states gives us the best chance to open the door for going after the NFA as a tax. Only the Hughes amendment would be left...and that's not very solid if the rug gets pulled out of the NFA.

    One thing I absolutely love, is the fact that grip is shaped and sized like a pistol. As someone who has shot the 240b more times than I can count - that was one of my biggest 'gripes' (If you can call it that) The grip was oversized. Even for what it was (And I have large hands). Having a handgun sized grip and trigger group, etc, just makes all the sense in the world.

    I've seen some talk about "Carrying a conversion kit adds more weight and you lose the point of the weapon if you switch to 7.62." No. You don't carry the conversion kit on missions. And the point is that even in 7.62, it's no LESS effective than the 240 with the added benefit of being able to shoot the more effective .338 when available. The tool-less conversion matters when you're at an isolated post and have to adapt to existing logistics

    I love this gun. I've heard it's roller delayed which is really really cool. I wish though that it was actually a bullpup lmg. The stock looks nice but I think you could push the grip forward, and then put a large butt pad on the back. More comfortable butt pad, smaller package to hold, etc.

    This looks really awesome! I thinks it’s genius how there are fewer parts, an easier barrel swap procedure, select fire, and awesome ballistics. However I do have a concern regarding the sliding feed tray. I was never in the service, but isn’t there a high chance that the slots for the feed tray to slide on could get bunked up and jam when trying to install a new ammo belt
