  • OK Haunt Fam, so I had a vision one day staring at a pile of stacked up cardboard parts boxes. " Damn, it looks like a graveyard of boxes". DING! A dim light went off in my head!
    What if I could use those stacks of boxes as molds to fill with foam to make big badass tombstones! Better than the flimsy crap you buy at stores. Now what kind of dense expanding foam could I use to make long lasting, big tombstones? .....SIKA Fence post foam!!
    This could work and does! 11 bags of foam later I have huge, thick, big, badass tombstones that are unique and ready for my graveyard!
    Follow along and get some ideas to wrap yourself off thin flimsy store bought tombstones and make your own!!! Materials are linked below and until we meet again......keep it evil!

    I must admit, I was VERY skeptical when I started watching this. :) You pulled it out! Those are legit solid gravestones. All of us who have cheap, flimsy, broken up gravestones can really appreciate these stocky DIY ones. Thanks for sharing.

      I was very skeptical!!! Lol, it would have gone better had I started with the WD40. I also think a warmer day would have made the foam expand more. They are thick, solid tombstones though in the end so I would do it again! Glad to share.

    Dang you were able to back spin longer than I can. When you throw cans and stuff off camera there should be a breaking glass sound effect 😂 This was a cool creative way to make these. I've never used those foam packs before. Thanks for posting this with us RUclipss.

      If had cardboard I could gave gotten 2 full spins I bet,haha. I need to look into sounds effects,lol. I've seen folks use that foam to fill masks and props but I'm suprised nobody has made tombstones out of it with all the online shopping we do! This could be a whole new craze on the youtubes.

      @@CobwebsandCandlesticks Now I'm thinking of making a mold with plywood in whatever shape tombstone and the just keep replicating it to make a big cemetery. For little sound effects I just record sound you like off youtube with phone then trim it and use the edited piece in video.

      A plywood box mold brushed with 2 thin coats of Rebound 25 or 40 would do the trick. Just enough to coat the wood!

    That bag of foam works pretty good. I may take my cheap tombstones, build the cardboard around them, then pour the foam to give my tombstone's some thickness.

    • @CobwebsandCandlesticks
      @CobwebsandCandlesticks  Год назад +1

      That's a great idea! Like building a damn to thicken them up! I would try brushing a light coat of Dollar Tree vaseline on the cardboard though so your not spraying the back of your tombstone with WD40. You might even lightly sand the back of your tombstones with 80 grit paper to scuff it up to help the foam bite in.

      @@CobwebsandCandlesticks I sincerely applaud the concept. I need a shop of some kind where I can start something and comeback to it without having to put everything up (like on the kitchen table.) need to clean out garage and maybe secure a small space in that. Idk. I really liked your idea of improving the store bought ones. It was brilliant as well. I would like to see Home Depot make those improvements and carry a larger variety of larger styles. If they could do that and lower the price point a little, say to $30 or less, it it seems to me that they would sell out as I believe more enthusiasts would just buy those instead of trying to making them. The reality of it is I probably would.

      @CobwebsandCandlesticks  Год назад +3

      If you can start with a small bench to work on so you can let projects sit during downtime thats a start! Alot of the tombstones out there just suck but can be improved upon. You can double up on thinner ones with thicker foam if you find a pattern you like. The HD blow molds are great they just needed a hole. You can even foam fill those!

      Very true! I priced 4x8 by 2" sheets at 57$ a sheet. It's cheaper for the thinner tombstones but more expensive for the big boy. It's probably overall pretty close in price by bag or by sheet. At least the sheets are clean with no cardboard to peel off! Lol

      Well, the post foam is a heavier weight. I wouldn't try spray can foam of any kind for the bulk of these tombstones. It would have probably been cheaper to buy a gallon kit of 6# foam from BITY Mold Supply. I actually priced 4x8 sheets of 2 inch foam before this and they were 57$. I figured, what the hell, lets try the post foam cause some folks might jot have access to 2 inch foam.

      I priced 4x8 sheets of 2" foam and they were 57 dollars. For the thinner tombstones it would have been cheaper per sheet but not for the big one. I also thought some folks might not have a truck to get it or live in an apartment with no way to store big sheets.
      If you got the boxes for a specific shape tombstone save them! Im.gonna do it again,lol.
