I grew up in Chicago and have gone to Bachelors Grove. There is a group that helps take care of the cemetery. It was fun going there. But we we're respectful of the cemetery.
They cleaned up the cemetery quite a bit. I remember many years ago it was overgrown and looked pretty bad. Now they cut the grass and monitor the grounds a lot more.
I live 15 minutes away from Bachelor's Grove. Across the Midlothian Turnpike, there's a nice trail that I like to frequent that's part of Rubio Woods. There's certainly something creepy yet special about that graveyard, and I've been to a LOT of creepy places! You ALWAYS feel watched there. I agreed so much when you mentioned how the walk down the old road is scarier than the graveyard itself! Everything, even the birds and the rustling of the trees in the wind, goes dead silent. You always want to keep checking your back, just to make sure nothing is stalking you. There's certain areas of the graveyard that are unnaturally cold, even on the hottest summer days. That pond is terrifying. It's a mosquito breeding ground and it has this very specific, pungent odor that makes you feel dizzy. I remember going there with a friend one Halloween (its our tradition) and the pond would sometimes bubble and make these gurgling sounds, like something or someone was drowning. That same day, we also encountered a doe that walked right in front of us, STARED at us for an entire minute, and jumped into the underbrush. Believe it or not, it's scarier to EXIT the graveyard than enter it. I dunno if it was just my friend and I, but we always brisk out of the graveyard because you almost feel like you're being chased by something you cannot see. When my friend and I left, he became SUPER nauseous and we both got massive migraines despite feeling fine beforehand. I also think the Turnpike is haunted - I remember one night while driving past Bachelor's Grove, my highbeams kept flickering, and I don't have automatic highbeams on my car. My friend was sitting shotgun and recording what was happening for their Instagram, and their phone went from like 90 percent to almost 30 percent! The video also never developed correctly, it was super fuzzy and glitchy. Also, ALWAYS leave something for the Infant Daughter! It's a bit of a tradition. Anyways, I love your channel, and how you cover so many Illinois paranormal spots! As a Chicagoan myself, I feel so seen! Illinois definitely has a lot of cool, creepy spots that often go unnoticed!
@@DDD11239 I'm not sure. Maybe not as creeped out as I had once I learned about it, but I'm fairly certain that whether you believe in the paranormal or not, stumbling across a small, abandoned graveyard in the middle of the woods would definitely creep you out.
That was nice. Thank you 😊 for posting this. I think it's an absolute disgrace, as well as disgusting, that someone would desecrate a cemetery like that. To tear down, kick over, spray paint a tombstone, that someone put up to commemorate a deceased loved one is pure hateful and gutless. I've heard stories of this happening over time, and, too me, it's just inconceivable that someone would do this. Especially with tombstones dating back to the early to mid 1800s. Why would anyone in their right mind want to do this, let alone steal a headstone? Sorry 😐, but I can't fathom it. As for your encounter, I don't know what to say. I'm just glad you 3 weren't harmed in any way. I look forward to your next video 😊. 1/17/24.
Thank you. Agreed. It's disgusting and deplorable that anyone would destroy someones grave. Each time I visit Bachelors Grove, more stones are either missing or moved to different places, it's sad. Yeah I'm glad we left when we did, it was a scary experience.
When we went there at night many years ago it was October and there were a lot of ghost hunters in the cemetery. The forest around the cemetery is quite large.
Great video, love the history behind it. That is really crazy about the orbs, It makes sense to me that they’d be in the woods rather than in the open, energy wise, more there in the trees than open space. Enjoyed this, thanks.
Thank you. Me too, I love the history behind these places and try to incorporate that in my videos. The glowing orbs are a mystery but I think an Indian burial somewhere in those woods is a possibility. It's a really interesting place.
Man I used to live near that area about 20 years ago! In Tinley Park at 179 in oak park ave! I used to ride my bicycle through the trails in that area all the way through Midlothian! And pass through that cemetery! I always throw caution to the wind when riding through there! My hair from my back stands up! Eerie and creepy vibes! Never roamed alone through the cemetery though! My nephew sometimes used to accompany me. And that was during the day time! I never dared going at night! Now that I live in Tucson Arizona, I miss my old town! Someday I’ll go back and visit! Miss the food, my family and friends! Great video!♥️😎👍I forgot to mention that that place also used to be a mob hit dump ground way back in the 20s and through the 30s.
There are a lot of trails in the woods there. It's a great place to go for a walk during the day. I mentioned the mob dumping ground legend in the video. It is often said the pond was used by Capone for that purpose, but there's no proof it ever happened. It's definitely interesting though.
I visited the cemetery on a ghost tour one October night some years ago. The visit was rather mundane-until we all witnessed some bluish lights flitting amongst the trees. We had no idea what they could be, certainly not vehicle lights or fireflies. We quickly got on the bus and headed for the next stop, Resurrection Cemetery, which was yet another experience.
I have been to Bachelors Grove a few times back in the 90's. Something special about that cemetary. I always found it so strange no birds sounds inside the fence but you heard as you walked up. Also, there was a spot in the trail leading to the cemetary that had a big tree root sticking out of the ground. Once you crossed over the tree root there was a chill in the air. I even straddled the root and had arms extended out on both sides and felt the difference on my arms. It was summertime and in the mid 80's temp wise. You need to check out Resurrection Cemetary also. I have a great picture of the gates. Glad I found your channel.
Cool story. It is a special place. I do plan to do a video on Resurrection Mary. It's been requested several times by my viewers and I've always found the story interesting.
Just found your channel n subscribed. I will never understand why anyone would vandalize a grave. It is a disgusting thing to do n utterly disrespectful. Thank you for sharing this remarkable video n looking forward to your next upload. 💖 From Australia
About 1972 we were there a lot at night, I was 12 and we'd explore it. Some people had dug up a couple coffins and were too afraid to open them so they floated them in the lagoon. You could see part of them above the water and one had a hole broken into it on the top side. Even a long time after pieces of wood from the coffins were still along the banks. It was dangerous back there because of the crazy people who hung around. The lagoon was the WORST. The cops did night patrols but usually just at the gate. Locals cleaned it up and removed tons of junk 10 years ago.
Strange and Sinister, thank you for your story. I came across another side park that reads Bachelors Grove close by. A friend of mine & I got out of the car & started walking to what seemed to be a wild rose bush field. We decided to turn back, and here was a park ranger basically telling us to get the hell out of there. It was broad daylight... so we left. It's a public place,no?
One of my dad's old friends went there for a funeral back in the 70s as well. He later went there some more during the day and he said he saw orbs, but the scariest thing was that he went there soon after a rainstorm and he wasn't looking where he put his feet. He fell on top of a dug up grave. Worse, because it was so slippery and steep and he wasn't wearing good shoes, it took him a long time to get out of the hole. He was PTSD now.
@@maxredjasper55 I was a landscaper in high school. It was my Summer job. I weed whacked around all the headstones after mowing. One day I was trimming around headstones at a Jewish cemetery and fell right through the grass and dirt into a wooden coffin. It was the last day I worked as a landscaper as it was A LOT for a sixteen year old kid to have happen whilst working to save money for my car
I think old cemeteries are fascinating as well...but whenever I leave, I tell the "residents" they are not allowed to leave with me. I tell them to stay there and rest in peace because the world is a really crazy place right now!
I have been to Bachelors Grove many times. It’s definitely an interesting place. There were stories about groups of people doing rituals and animal sacrifices. One time when we were there a team of paranormal investigators were there with a lot of equipment. We did witness a 10 degree temperature decrease on their one machine. I never did see anything else but lots of strange things have been reported there. Great video !
I know this place! One of my dad's friends went there when the grave robbery was huge and he said the scariest thing he experienced was when he was walking through and he wasn't looking and he fell... into a dug up grave. He said if anyone heard him scream that day, they'd sure as hell think it was haunted.
Growing up in Oak Lawn, I visited numerous times back in the 1990's. Other than an odd feeling whenever we were there, we only saw light anomalies over the pond. Our time there was minimal, Police patrolled frequently especially around Halloween. Btw, Great content. Enjoying your channel. 👍👍
When I was a teenager we would ride our horses up through the woods to an old graveyard on the side of a hill, we had been told people would see a little girl on a headstone. We are always scaring ourselves but nothing was there. But I wish there were ghosts because my dad could visit me.
We live very close to the cemetery..and used to walk our dog thru the surrounding woods all the time. Just once my husband walked the trail, and ended up at the cemetery. (He is not one that believes in the paranormal.) He said as he got closer to the cemetery our dog who was very calm normally, started acting strange. Stopping frequently, head twisting like he was trying to understand something, then ran back to my husband, as to say, protect me daddy. *He was the worst dog ever as far as watch dogs go.* That's when my husband felt "something" .... at first he thought it his imagination, but as this odd feeling continued to intensify he could only describe it as a full blown panic attack. Something he does not ever have. He said with that he got the heck out of there and has never gone back. He has no explanation for what occurred but he just says he has NEVER felt what he felt that afternoon before or after that day. And has absolutely no desire to go back
Great video, your history is spot on with the research I've done on this place. I grew up by the grove, and have some really odd stories, some of which, I'm still trying to process in my head from years ago. I believe the woods and the road leading up to the cemetery are more haunted than the cemetery itself. My most recent experiences there, less than 2 years ago, happened in the afternoon and happened just on the side of the road leading to the cemetery.
This is the 2nd video of yours that I've watched now. The thing I especially like is your walking-around videography (oh, and the driving-there too) as this takes me right slap-bang there to experience the place for myself. Then, your clear and convincing voice wraps things up perfectly. Thanks a lot; you have me hooked; please keep them coming! 👏🏻👏🏻
I love that you have footage along with your narration. Not many people do! You seem to be based in the Midwest, I’d love to see some Minnesota hauntings if you ever happen to be that far North!
I won't be able to travel for every video, but I think it makes it more interesting to see footage of the actual location in the story. I might eventually travel to MN. I did a video on Summerwind up in northern WI.
Any cemetary at is so creepy. Your right, your senses are on high alert. We have a big cemetary here in Kingston. Beautiful to walk through in daytime, but night, forget it. Lol Keep up the great stories.😊
Ah hello fellow Norwood Park Person. Grew up in the 80s went to Onahan. Hope all is well in Ireland, from Milwaukee WI. 😊 Miss Chicago myself, but I thankfully can still run and visit and grab a Super Dawg. ;)
I believe that the whole forest is haunted, I had an experience as a kid in cub scouts at Camp Sullivan (it's a part of bachelor's grove). I stayed the night there and had horrible nightmares, and during the day, we went on a hike through the woods, and I swear someone or something was following us. Also, when we were playing by the woods, it looked like there was a shadowy figure watching us.
I’ve seen the light, red and orange. We were going to go in on a Halloween night years ago, but after seeing the orbs, changed our minds. I would love to investigate here at night.
@@StrangeandSinister1 we have some buddies on the department. We would set it up before we went in there, but it’s something I would love to do one of these nights.
Excellent episode. It makes me wonder what you all saw were wood sprites? The knocks, the orbs. As you said, not associated with the cemetery but the woods. So cool!
I know this place.. My Gramps said it was creepy in 1930s! In the 80s when I was in H.S. people would call this make-out point. Because it was secluded, and a good place to hang out, and get High. Someone Dared me that I wouldn't walk through the Cemetary on Halloween night! It was the creepiest and weirdest place I've ever been to in my life. I didn't stay long enough to see any thing! I took off running, and hopped back in my BF car! There was a rumor that people were going there for Satanic worship. That's when the police started patroling more often and locked it up at night. Thanks for a great video. You brought back a lot of memories, of my long lost youth. 😁
@StrangeandSinister1 Yes, I knew people who were arrested hanging out there in the early 90s. My old BF had a friend who saw an apparition supposedly in the Cemetary. We used to joke around and ask how stoned was he when he saw it?? Lol 🤣
I've been there about 3 or 4 times. One time, in the late Eighties, we went there quite late on a Summer night. There was a not quite full moon. It was kind of hot, and, no wind. In one spot inside the cemetery, there was a cold spot. I was the first one to notice it. I told my two friends to stand there, and, they both said, that, in that one spot, it was as it were twenty degrees cooler. We saw white and blue orbs. The blue ones were over the pond. The white ones were in the woods on the far side of the cemetery. We saw a two story house, kind of deep in the woods. It was white or some kind of lighter color. It's hard to say exactly which color, because it was much darker in the woods.
Three years ago i was immediate need of a public amenities building, and being in a regional area it was looking desperate, when from the road i saw a door open on the mourners building in the local cemetery on its own , the toilet hadnt been in use for over a decade and usually locked tight and its usually un manned . I am very grateful for the guardians and residents to this day .
I’m happy and bummed that I found this channel.. happy because it’s great content and bummed because now I get to be freaked out when I’m home alone. Thaaaaaaanks….
I have been here several times and found it very peaceful. I took many photos but never felt or saw anything unusual. Saw chipmunks though which was brilliant as we dont have them in England. Great video 🤘
The video was amazing I appreciate it brother🙏 I’ve came to this cemetery a couple of times with my friends at night and honestly it is a little scary sometimes you feel like you hear something and there’s so many trails that lead to different places it’s weird.. I have the videos on my channel for anyone wondering but yea man for sure haunted!
@@StrangeandSinister1 I believe that there are actually 2 small cemeteries side by side. You are looking for the Churchville Schoolhouse on the north side. You may see a sign for Fischer Woods first
@@StrangeandSinister1 just rumors when I was a kid in the 70-80s. Mists and shadows but I have never experienced anything in that time period. We would ride our bikes around there.
My Aunt, father and grandmother had a story about them finding and taking a bone from the grounds. They had some bad luck and tried to get rid of it but it kept reappearing. They would throw it in a trash can outside and the next day it would be on top of the lid. Eventually, my grandmother found out and made them take it back. My dad was too afraid to go into the grounds and just ended up throwing it from the car or something.
Thanks for doing this video, the long walk through the surrounding woods, paths, and additional tid-bits about the place. (Also all the other Chicago area places!) I didn't get much past the cemetery entrance on the main path, when we went about 15 years ago. I sure felt drawn further down that path to look for foundations, etc. That access path gives it a unique feeling over other ways to get into cemeteries. The pond was one green slime pit. It was daytime and nothing paranormal happened. We had a digital recorder and multiple cameras taking the same shots. There were a lot of the ubiquitous orange day lilies covering one section of the cemetery, near the area where the white lady photo was taken. We each took our turn sitting on the same headstone base that she was on and having our photos taken. I knew the professional photographer who was able to examine the original photo/negative. It was legit. No messing around with it. It struck me as profoundly sad, rather than scary, to see headstones tossed all over the place, broken, or missing. Bachelor's Grove is the worst of the worst. I don't know how they would be able to reconstruct the cemetery to what and where things should be. Not sure if people were maintaining it at that time. I noted a large "crater" in front of a headstone, so people were still digging around graves.
Thank you for sharing your experience going there. I've never had anything paranormal happen there in the daytime either, only at night. I agree, it's terribly sad seeing the cemetery like that. It's probably the worst one I've been to for desecrated and missing gravestones. Did you watch the video I made on Aux Sable Cemetery? It's similar to Bachelor's Grove Cemetery but more secluded.
@@StrangeandSinister1 - Yes! I watched it earlier tonight. I was surprised at an even longer path and a more hidden cemetery. Very good condition too, but maybe that's because it's pretty far out of the way in quiet Minooka. I do not do night visits. As a teen, my friends thought it would be grand to go into one of the overcrowded Forest Park cemeteries. I stayed in the car and they didn't return for over an hour. I was very scared sitting by myself in the car. I'd flip out if something paranormal happened in the daytime.
Same, I don't visit at night either. My night time experience there was over 20 years ago. I actually plan to make a video on Forest Home Cemetery. It has some interesting graves and stories.
@@StrangeandSinister1 - Yes, it was either Forest Home or Jewish Waldheim that I was stuck in. Whatever one was wide open at night. I'm now way over the age to be doing any of this, but my daughter, step-daughter, and step-granddaughter all wanted to see Bachelor's Grove years back. We also did a day at Graceland. That's one gorgeous cemetery.
@@StrangeandSinister1 my friend has family buried there she is from Illinois and she agreed with the orbs that there are orbs everywhere there. She also brings toys for the infant there.
Leave a comment after your trip and let me know if you saw any ghosts or orbs. If you explore the other side of the creek adjacent to the cemetery, there's a trail back there that goes to a house foundation/cellar hole. I was going to include that in my video but the trail was overgrown. The weeds won't be as bad when you go in October.
The vanishing house is a classic residual haunting. That house stood in those woods probably pre - Civil War. Now it appears to those with the perception to connect with the past as an after image.
Just went to Bachelors Grove not too long ago during the day standing by the Infant Daughter grave I witnessed a large branch fall and hit another person that was visiting. Also near one side of the fence you see things moving and there’s no wind at all. Temperature got chilly too.
Been there many times. Never seen any orbs or the woman in white. 😞. My best friend told me he saw the woman in white towards the end of the trail on his way out!
Very informative presentation, thanks for posting! It's really disturbing to view a cemetery mostly of monument/grave stone bases due to cowardly vandals destroying the markers. Most of the burials date so far back that there most likely ancestors remaining or if solving in the area near the cemetery. It's nice that the grounds are maintained, just wish the graves weren't desecrated.
It's a had a lot of work done on it since I was there a few times in the 90s. I had a few incidents there... Saw a....... half-body apparition? Just the upper half of someone walking outside the fence. It was pretty dark but could make it out clearly. Went to check and there were no footprints in the sand outside the fence were it was. Another, we placed a recorder on a headstone and went down to the swampy area. When we came back we retrieved the recorder and despite being the only people in the cemetery, you could clearly hear someone walk up to the recorder, pick it up, and set it back down on the headstone. No footsteps leaving. And lastly... we saw an "orb" of light across the cemetery down by the swamp area. It hovered for a half second or so and then did a loop in the air a couple feet in diameter and disappeared. Given the smell down there though... I have to believe that it really was swamp gas. But the other two incidents? No explanation.
The tape recorder story is creepy. It's possible someone walked into the cemetery and picked it up, but if you didn't hear footsteps leaving then who knows. It's definitely creepy.
I live in a rural area in eastern NC, from my home you can look into the pasture where there is a cluster of trees. There are no headstones left, not that there ever really were but it is a slave cemetery. There have been orbs seen and voices heard near the trees.
I went there a few times over 25 years ago. My friends told me lots of stories. That picture was in the newspaper and we saved it. There’s a pond right there by the graves like a cove and the road goes right over it and it is said that right there where the pond is by the graves back in the day the mob dumped hundreds of bodies of people they killed there. We had to climb through a tear in the fence back then and it was small. A lot of tales about that place. I also briefly lived by resurrection cemetery where famous Mary is said to roam.
The mob dumping ground legend is an old one. I talked about it in the video. I'm going to do a video on Resurrection Mary. I did one on St. James Sag not from there.
Geoffrey Baer from PBS channel 11 Chicago claims that most of the people buried there are victim s of the Eastland boat disaster that Capsized in the Chicago River 90 years ago you can go on line & look that up it was pretty tragic downtown Chicago a company excursion over to some town in Michigan everyone for some reason all moved to one side of the ship and it capsized and a lot got thrown in the river and some got trapped below deck & could not be rescued in time
Yes, there's a historical marker at the river where it happened. I've watched documentaries about it. Tragic event. I have no idea if what the guy claims is true.
3 of us went on a friday the 13th (not saying that amplified the experience, just kind of funny how the timing worked out) and while we did not find the moving house we did hear this door slam shut several times. it was like every 5 minutes for about 20 minutes before we said nope and left lol
That's weird. I've never heard about door shutting noises there. Another viewer left a comment recently about the vanishing house they saw in the woods and glowing blue and white orbs.
I enjoy your channel very much. I see a lot of videos about Illinois, would you consider making one about "Old Oakbrook" and the hauntings there? It's an interesting and scary place at night but very beautiful!
@@StrangeandSinister1 It is the site of an old Mafia killing ground from the 1920s/1930s, there is a very beautiful but very eerie church. It's a site of many hauntings.
It sounds interesting. Thank you for sharing the idea. I'll add it to my list of places to consider for haunted location videos. I'm going to be covering some true crime stories including gangster related stuff. Maybe this location has a good story for that. I really like places where true crime and the paranormal overlap.
The orbs thing I find it fascinating people are so alarmed. My grandfather farm had the orbs in Treeline behind the pasture. My grandfather would say leave them alone he couldn't tell you what they were. But said they were harmless. I grew up seeing them and not being afraid or concerned about them. Now grandfather had farm in North Carolina. We lived in Michigan, but we would go visit our grandparents on the major holidays xmas Thanksgiving Easter.
Cool story. I wasn't too afraid of the orbs I saw that night. I mean it was creepy but I didn't feel threatened by them. My one friend was really scared.
Majority of roads that go on an angle (northwest south east southwest northeast) in the chicagoland are known as Indian trails. Archer ave. State road in Burbank and southwest Highway. Alot others.
Same on the north side: Northwest Hwy, Milwaukee Ave. Just a Cliff Claven, but Half Day Rd. only took 6-8 hours by buggy from Chgo not a half day. The name comes from Chief Hafda who was very integrated into society in that area in the 1800s.
I'll tell you what profiles: douchebag Greek fraternity guys undergoing "rites of passage" or maybe people practicing various forms of sorcery involving bones as accessory to perform rituals... I wish secret societies and fraternities would be completely abolished, nothing good come out of them. Too many entitled bastards get away with extreme forms of hazing and there is this disgusting disregard for equality of chances as secret societies promote classist influence peddling in favor of an elite.
This is a great channel!! There was a street in Bartlett called munger road, do you know anything about it? Now theres houses but it I drove down there when there was nothing, what’s the story there?
Thank you. I've heard of Munger road, but I don't know the story. Is that the road where the school bus got hit on the train tracks? The ghost kids push the car over the tracks or something like that. Maybe I'm thinking of something else. Another viewer mentioned Munger road. I'll have to look into it more.
@@StrangeandSinister1 yes that’s it, but I heard a guy killed his family or something there too, idk, that would be a good video to to, there is a horror movie that was made called munger road, I need to watch it
I should watch the movie. I know it's been out for a while. I'll definitely add Munger road to my list of places and check out the story you mentioned.

On a beautiful and sunny late spring early afternoon in 1998, I was having lunch with a friend of mine who I grew up with on the Southside of Chicago. The restaurant was a mile or so away from Bachelor's Grove Cemetery. I mentioned the cemetery to my friend and to my surprise, he had never been there. To me, going there was a teenage rite of passage of sorts. He wanted to see it and suggest we check it out after lunch, which we did. We parked in the woods just northeast of the cemetery entrance and walked over. We were the only ones in the parking lot and I felt uncomfortable leaving the car there. There was no one out that day. I gave him a tour of the cemetery and what I remembered about it from years ago. To be honest, he wasn't impressed nor disturbed by the cemetery. I felt bad for not living up to an expectation he had of it. We were inside the cemetary and standing near the fence facing the pond. He excused himself to take a pee and walked over to the east side. As I look back at the pond I saw a man in a buffalo plaid flannel shirt moving quickly along the edge of the pond toward me. If you pause the video at 06:46 and look directly through the middle of the missing fence and at the tree on the other side of the pond, that is where I saw the figure. At first I thought maybe it was the police about to arrest us. I became very anxious and turned my head sideways, looked at my friend and said "we need to leave!". When I turned my head back looking at the pond, the man was gone. I have no idea where he went and I was utterly confused as to what I saw and where he went. The trees were still relatively bare and yet, I saw or heard nothing. In fact, when I remembered it later, it was like watching a silent movie. As he made his way around the edge of the pond, small branches and growth moved, but there was no sound or branches snapping underfoot. Nothing. Again, if you look at the video at 6:46, how the figure moved so quickly along the edge of the pond with all those tree and branches, and then disappear absolutely baffles me. We quickly left -and nervously-and got back to my car park on the other side of the road in the forest preserve. We drove up an down the turnpike a few times to see where the man might have been or maybe seen a car he had driven. Again, nothing. We were the only two people out there that day. Because my friend did not see this figure, it didn't really phase him what I was experiencing and he thought it was a hunter. But he had no gun, no gear, nothing to suggest it. Plus there's no hunting out there and I don't recall seeing deer out there. We got back to the restaurant and my friend got into his car and drove away and I did the same. It wasn't until later when I got home and replayed what I had saw that I realize that I saw a supernatural figure. I've always believed ghosts were transparent, white-ish looking things. I should mention that the afternoon having lunch and visiting Bachelor's Grove Cemetery was the last time I saw my friend alive. He died at the age of 31. When I look back on my many visits to the cemetery and only having one experience, which is the one I just described, there is always something about that place that just feels flat and like a black abyss of non-existence. It's hard to explain exactly what it feels like that, this time being no different. But that night when I went to bed and closed my eyes, I could still see the cemetery. It was like when you spend a long summer laying out at the beach and when you go to bed and close your eyes, you can see an after image of the sun. Bachelor's Grove Cemetery made me realize that a kind of haunted place is not necessarily "spooky" or sends a chill down your spin to qualify as haunted. To me, Bachelor's Grove is defined not by the felt presence of ghosts or spooky sightings but rather a presence that permeates the cemetery and its immediate surroundings like a bottomless black void that you can feel, and when you do it makes you feel sick and nauseated. It's not a place I'd recommend to anyone whose interested in visiting. I think it's better to not unsettle your mind with dark places like Bachelor's Grow and it's better to make better use of your precious short time in this world focusing on what is good, beautiful, happy, and positive. Thank you for reading my story.
Thanks for sharing your experience, and I'm sorry to hear about your friend. It could have been someone walking on the trail that runs along the pond, but if they were suddenly gone, that's another story, unless they were hiding behind a tree. But the parking lot was empty, unless they parked in the lot in the back of the forest or rode a bike there. Others, too, have experienced a feeling of dread like you explained. I never had that feeling but I do believe the woods around the cemetery are haunted. Thanks again for sharing your creepy story.
I've seen white orbs in a cave on the island of Saipan. At first there were six, but after I bowed to them and spoke in Japanese three of them disappeared deep inside the cave while the remaining three accompanied me until I left the cave at which time I bowed and said goodbye in Japanese.
I live in the suburbs of Chicago and for a final for my Chicago History class we had to make a photo album of 10 different things from the same category in Chicago and I decided to do Chicago cemeteries. When my mom and I crossed the turnpike to get to the forest preserve, the temp immediately dropped and the wind went silent. As we walked down the road to get to the cemetery itself (the scariest part imo), the birds were super loud, but as soon as we walked into the actual cemetery, it stopped. We ended up recreating the Madonna of Bachelor's Grove picture which was pretty cool, but the eeriest part of the cemetery itself was the pond nearby that Al Capone and the Chicago crime circuit allegedly dumped bodies into. It smells rancid even in January (when we went it was frozen over) and I can imagine how terrifying the headlights reflecting off the water could be at night. I ended up leaving a Hot Wheels car for the infant daughter, I sat in front of that and the Fulton headstone for a few minutes because I felt some sort of presence there but we had to leave quickly because our car was parked across the street and the lot was technically closed for the evening. My mom used to frequent Bachelor's grove in the 90s and claims to have seen orbs and a faint apparition of the house, but she chalks it up to fog (she's more of a skeptic than I am).
Thanks for sharing your experience. The pond looks gross when it's covered with algae. I can only imagine what's on the bottom. It's an interesting place to visit.
I was there 30 years ago, this place is no joke! We recorded and you can hear us walk away. The tape was scary AF. Evil lives there, we took pictures of everything and I swear we caught the devil on film. I'll never go back.. I'm scared of that place to this day. The death and disrespect of the grove is insane. Since my experience I've seen horrible things and hear voices, I sometimes feel like I've been haunted since that day. It was windy and went we went into the grove it was dead still... No wind, no nothing. Should have left then. But didn't hed the warning signs. 30 years later I wish I would have never gone. Was in mental hospital 4 times since last year. The voices are getting louder, tried meds, doesn't make them go away. I'm cursed.
I went up there on Friday the 13th in October with my girlfriend and best friend. We didn’t see any orbs but we had similar experiences with weird knocks and random cracks in the woods. It was very scary. I don’t think the cops take it quite so seriously anymore. There was one waiting for us to come out but they saw that we just had flashlights and stuff and knew we weren’t doing nothing crazy.
@@StrangeandSinister1 I’ve been up there twice, once in the day with a friend and once at night. That pond was really surreal both times but at night it was so dark it looked like a black void. It really felt like whatever goes on doesn’t come out.
I was there over 30 years ago and saw the same orb. We saw it come up from a grave but it didn't go back down into the ground tho. It came right after our asses and ran us out as soon as we got there. One of my guys even got a pic of it. I'm sure he still has it some where. Memories
I have seen glowing orbs outside of Marfa, Tx that were seen indians and cowboys in the1800s. No body has ever explained them, but I don't think they are supernatural.
I worked with the cook county forest preserve district police department for over 30 years and I can tell you some stories of the cemetery!! Seen and experienced some very weird things happening
Would you be open to emailing me some stories that I can showcase in a future video? I can provide the email for my channel. It would be cool to make a whole video telling scary stories about Bachelors Grove.

We used to drink beers there in high school. Always carried out our empties🤙
Thank you!
I also live close to it, 131st and Cicero. Now living in Washington state. I’ve been there a couple of times
The problem is, would you have felt the same had you not known of the Grove's reputation?
🇨🇦I found it weird that there were ghost hunters in the cemetery late at night.
They didn’t make noises.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Did you see a ghost at Resurrection Cemetery?
In Niles?
Were you with Ursula?
I did a video on St. James at Sag Bridge not far from Resurrection Mary on Archer.
Just found your channel n subscribed. I will never understand why anyone would vandalize a grave. It is a disgusting thing to do n utterly disrespectful. Thank you for sharing this remarkable video n looking forward to your next upload.

Thank you. I'm working on a new video. Yeah it's pretty disgusting anyone would do that, especially digging up the graves.
😦 That's really sick and messed up. Hopefully someone got arrested for that. I hope the coffins were removed from the pond and returned to the graves.

I was a landscaper in high school.
Omg that's crazy! I've heard of this happening before with old graves. They didn't use cement vaults back then and sometimes the ground collapses.
Your channel is one of the better paranormal sites that I have come across! Thank you for doing a very good job!
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
I think old cemeteries are fascinating as well...but whenever I leave, I tell the "residents" they are not allowed to leave with me. I tell them to stay there and rest in peace because the world is a really crazy place right now!
Not a bad idea.
I remember that photo of the woman in white. Nice video on the history of this cemetery. ❤️👻👏🏻
Glad you enjoyed it! I love that photo. Very creepy.

More to come! I'm working on a new one. Thank you for watching.
Great video. I like your personal story and the extra work you put in to look up old newspaper articles and records relating to the stories. 👍
Thank you! I appreciate that.
awesome video! thanks for telling about this cemetery! it's a shame idiots have almost destroyed this historic place ✌️
Yes I agree. Thank you!
It's an interesting place. The trails in the woods are great for walking too.
I know this place! One of my dad's friends went there when the grave robbery was huge and he said the scariest thing he experienced was when he was walking through and he wasn't looking and he fell... into a dug up grave. He said if anyone heard him scream that day, they'd sure as hell think it was haunted.
It’s sad the place has been desecrated so many times.
Thank you. Yeah it seems the lights are one of the more common sightings there.
Hey I grew up in Oak Lawn, too. Somehow I never went to Bachelors Grove. We did hang out at Rocky Glen in the '70s though.
When I was a teenager we would ride our horses up through the woods to an old graveyard on the side of a hill, we had been told people would see a little girl on a headstone. We are always scaring ourselves but nothing was there.
But I wish there were ghosts because my dad could visit me.
That's a cool story, thanks for sharing.
He may visit you while dreaming. That has happened to me. It is bittersweet. Take care
I would love to go here and catch "The Madonna of Bachelor's Grove". Thank you for the awesome story! 😊 Love the stories and channel!❤

We live very close to the cemetery..and used to walk our dog thru the surrounding woods all the time. Just once my husband walked the trail, and ended up at the cemetery. (He is not one that believes in the paranormal.)
He said as he got closer to the cemetery our dog who was very calm normally, started acting strange. Stopping frequently, head twisting like he was trying to understand something, then ran back to my husband, as to say, protect me daddy.
*He was the worst dog ever as far as watch dogs go.*
That's when my husband felt "something" ....
at first he thought it his imagination, but as this odd feeling continued to intensify he could only describe it as a full blown panic attack. Something he does not ever have. He said with that he got the heck out of there and has never gone back. He has no explanation for what occurred but he just says he has NEVER felt what he felt that afternoon before or after that day. And has absolutely no desire to go back
Thank you for sharing this. That's really weird. Good thing he got out of there sooner than later.
I feel the same way. For me, the woods are more creepy than the cemetery. Did you see the glowing orbs in the woods?
I just found your channel and I really appreciate. Hope you post more content soon.

The last professional paranormal investigation that I heard about Bachelor's Grove was from Richard Crowe. Yours is on that level! Great work!
Thank you.
Been there many times. It’s peaceful and not even a little scary. It actually looks a bit cleaner than last.
It was very clean when I went there to film. Very peaceful place to spend the afternoon.
Thank you.
Wow, they really cleaned that cemetery up. Nice to see
Yeah it's a lot better now. I remember when the grass was overgrown and garbage everywhere.
I lived in Norwood park loved Chicago greeting from Dublin Ireland 🇮🇪
Ah hello fellow Norwood Park Person. Grew up in the 80s went to Onahan. Hope all is well in Ireland, from Milwaukee WI. 😊
Miss Chicago myself, but I thankfully can still run and visit and grab a Super Dawg. ;)
My in-laws lived in Norwood Park. Back in the 80’s.
😦 I think the forest is definitely haunted.
I'm so glad youtube put you in my algorithm. ❤

I’ve seen the light, red and orange. We were going to go in on a Halloween night years ago, but after seeing the orbs, changed our minds. I would love to investigate here at night.
That's cool. I don't recommend going there at night. Law enforcement patrols it all the time after dark

Fascinating video...very sad of the desecration to the graves 😢
Yes I agree. Thank you for watching!
Excellent episode. It makes me wonder what you all saw were wood sprites? The knocks, the orbs. As you said, not associated with the cemetery but the woods. So cool!
I don't know, but it was really weird and cool at the same time.
😁
Thank you for the comment. There were satanic rituals there and idiots digging up graves. The police patrol it after dark and arrest for trespassing.
@StrangeandSinister1 Yes, I knew people who were arrested hanging out there in the early 90s.
My old BF had a friend who saw an apparition supposedly in the Cemetary. We used to joke around and ask how stoned was he when he saw it??
Lol 🤣
lol
That's really interesting. Thank you for sharing. It seems like a lot of people see those floating orbs.

I have been here several times and found it very peaceful. I took many photos but never felt or saw anything unusual. Saw chipmunks though which was brilliant as we dont have them in England. Great video 🤘
Was the orb you saw a 'willo the wisp' or marsh/bog light? I saw one the size of a tennis ball outside my home in Ireland one night, i was shocked😆
Same. Other than the sounds of the cars on the turnpike, I find it to be a peaceful place to go for a walk.
I'm not sure what it was. The light was probably about the size of a tennis ball, maybe a little bigger.

😦 Evil bone! Good thing they got rid of it.
Been there seen the phantom houses, weeping mothers grave was ice cold this place is legit as it gets

If you explore the other side of the creek adjacent to the cemetery, there's a trail back there that goes to a house foundation/cellar hole. I was going to include that in my video but the trail was overgrown. The weeds won't be as bad when you go in October.
13:05 can you imagine what that path/woods would look like if you took all those dead trees away?
Why mess with them
Great video 👍🏻
Thanks!
The vanishing house is a classic residual haunting. That house stood in those woods probably pre - Civil War. Now it appears to those with the perception to connect with the past as an after image.
Probably, but who knows.
Just went to Bachelors Grove not too long ago during the day standing by the Infant Daughter grave I witnessed a large branch fall and hit another person that was visiting. Also near one side of the fence you see things moving and there’s no wind at all. Temperature got chilly too.
That's crazy! Was the person okay?
Been there many times. Never seen any orbs or the woman in white. 😞. My best friend told me he saw the woman in white towards the end of the trail on his way out!
She's been seen by many people.
I have been to the Grove. In my teens. Im now 50. I had an experience and id not like to share it with everyone. Its personal and was scary.
Sounds like it was a frightening experience 🫢.
It's upsetting to see cemeteries destroyed. Almost every cemetery I've covered on my channel has been vandalized.
You are absolutely right. It IS the woods, not the cemetery. There is something malevolent in those woods.
Did you see a ghost or anything in the woods?
I enjoy your channel very much. I see a lot of videos about Illinois, would you consider making one about "Old Oakbrook" and the hauntings there? It's an interesting and scary place at night but very beautiful!
I'll certainly look into it. What's the story behind it?
I've been by there a few times but never entered. It was spooky just driving past in the 70s and early 80s.
It isn't scary for me during the day, but after dark is another story. The forest around the cemetery is creepy.
Just found your channel. Great content. I’m pretty sure a phantom farmhouse has been seen in this area as well. Your new subscriber in Alaska~
Thank you! Yes, I mentioned the phantom farmhouse in the video.
Tq, don’t know how I missed the farmhouse. So looking forward to more great vids~
R .I.P. TO EVERY SPIRITS. People need to show Respect to the those who died.
What sick people would steal someone’s grave stone? Thats really really insane!
Thankfully, some of them were recovered. One was found in the backyard of a home.
Munger rd is now a industrial park and access to Elmhurst Chicago Stone Co. when I drove semi truck in the 90s I would use it as a short cut to advoid traffic on Route 59 Sutton rd I would drive it south from Bartlett rd to stearns rd it was gravel & very ruff & desolate it was the way to get into one of Elmhurst Chicago stones many material yards never saw to many cars just Mixers & Dump Trucks it was like unexplored but toward the end of the 90s they paved it & started their developement work and prevented running threw to Bartlett rd on the north & stearns on the south the road did a sharp jog to the left about the length of a couple of football fields then you turn right & continue south to stearns and I believe it also continued on south of stearns in the 90s it was rural but toward the end of the 90s they started to develope the area I think it went as far south as Smith rd In rural WestChicago town ship the way I remember it but that was many many moons ago I had to retire from trucking in 2004 at 39 years old do to illness the last time I was up in that area in my own car was about 2014 it’s all changed now I would not recognize any of it oh well that’s progress
OMG 😱... your brave.
Fascinating. Thankyou.
Look forward to more.

Thank you. More to come!
Creepy! 😦
Awesome
The knocking and cracking sounds were really weird, and the sounds followed us along the trail. Those woods are creepy as hell at night.
@@StrangeandSinister1 I’ve been up there twice, once in the day with a friend and once at night. That pond was really surreal both times but at night it was so dark it looked like a black void. It really felt like whatever goes on doesn’t come out.
The pond was a rock quarry in the 1800's. In the summer it has that green algae on the surface that makes it look more creepy.
Been there many times, very interesting place. Glad there is a non profit trying to clean the cemetery up
It's been cleaned up quite a bit. Many years ago it was overgrown.
We have a bachelors grove cemetery in Texas too
Is it haunted?
Skeptics are terrified of things existing beyond their thimble sized box.
Bachelors Grove is on my bucket list.
Where I live there are so many little family cemeteries. The graveyards have high grass and some of the tombstones are turned over. It's so sad.
It's unfortunate and sad. If I had a family cemetery on my land, I'd preserve it.
I live about 30 miles away. I'm going there in April
Awesome. Ghost hunting?
@@StrangeandSinister1 not in particular. Just always wanted to. And it's relatively close
There’s a bike path right next to bachelors cemetery. I used to go by there all the time when I lived in oak lawn.
Leave a comment after your visit and let me know how it was. It's a nice place to go for a walk and look at the graves.
Seeing the desecration, it's no surprise that there is unrest.
Agreed.
I was there over 30 years ago and saw the same orb. We saw it come up from a grave but it didn't go back down into the ground tho. It came right after our asses and ran us out as soon as we got there. One of my guys even got a pic of it. I'm sure he still has it some where. Memories
Thanks for sharing. That's crazy. We didn't get chased by it but we decided it was probably best to leave the woods.
I have seen glowing orbs outside of Marfa, Tx that were seen indians and cowboys in the1800s. No body has ever explained them, but I don't think they are supernatural.
😦
What kind of disrespectful pos would do things like to peoples resting place
I worked with the cook county forest preserve district police department for over 30 years and I can tell you some stories of the cemetery!! Seen and experienced some very weird things happening
Would you be open to emailing me some stories that I can showcase in a future video? I can provide the email for my channel. It would be cool to make a whole video telling scary stories about Bachelors Grove.
