It's crazy that they had the conversation about dee1 without any one of them looking him up. He's a rapper and activist out of New Orleans who had some buzz in the early 2010s. He's always had the same message. Even in his old music. And has definitely earned the right to say whatever it is he wants to about what happens in the culture.

AND he did say the message at first with kindness, then they came back at him with clown behavior. Van Lathan knows Dee-1 and says good things about him. This is not a music conversation but it's a conversation about musicians are apart of the down fall to our young kids. Shame on me I can't stop watching JBP - LOL

Dee 1 is an ex-teacher who decided he could make a bigger impact through music... hes been an artist for over a decade ... hes done music with large artist like Game and is a better artist than most mainstream artist
Dee-1 has been rapping for years and this is one of his constant messages. He wasn’t wrong for the message.
Dee 1 was wrong about the effectiveness of his selected targets. Addressing rap has been done before. The problems in the community existed before gangster rap.

Beside the message in music is more than just gun violence, it's money mismanagement, treatment of women and overall how people conduct themselves in public. Dee 1 gain notoriety from a song that discuss paying off a student loans. This led to multiple corporation events, tours and dealing one of one with the young to bring them a positive message and giving a better outlook on life. Most of these rappers preach one thing but live a completely different life out of there art, which art in most case if a reflection of that person experience. I'm standing with d1 on this one

He just doesn't want to admit he chose them, because they were currently buzzing on the internet. He doesn't want to admit he's dependent on "secular" media strategies.
We have a whole drill movement going, and that's his best picks? Most of these rappers are actual gang members or affiliates influencing these kids..."Their age"... Your entire argument about rappers living different lives is outdated. That's the problem, and he can't see it either. The community doesn't have enough knowledge on the topic, because so many are suburbians tired of feeling uncomfortable about street music. You have to get to the base of the problem, and avoiding that to discuss rappers that actually help the community isn't smart.
