I have been a fan of Ali Hussain ever since I saw him on Saregama many years ago. He sings all those Rafi songs that have been the center of my world for as many years as I have been listening to them. I wish he had been more widely recognized. His talent is obvious. Jeeyo!
This magnificent song is set in raag Sindh Bhairav...and the way Ali Hussein and Madhura Datar have rendered it is superb singing by masters...What voices they possess...truly a gift of the Gods !! I fully agree with the sentiments of the learners commentators on this forum. The relaxed but perfect rendition of this otherwise difficult song underscores their command of Hindustani classical music. Superb, indeed!
Mr Ali keeps it simple without too many vocal acrobatics, unlike Rafi sahab, while Madhura does indulge in them with good impact. Well rendered by both.
Both are good singers.... but very mechanically sung.... Ali was technically correct and Madhura to me missed at couple of places. But both failed hugely on Bhava. This song has been made immortal by Rafi and Suman not just due to the classical quality but due to the exact replication of the naughtiness in screen, the surprise, the smile and many many other things that Mehmood and Shobha showed on screeen. This rendition was totally flat on the emotion side. When you close your eyes and try to link it to the scene the song falls flat. While i have seen many of the performances by both these two guys and have likes them..... this was hugely disappointing.
Kim Chin, Md. Rafi's voice and singing were extraordinary and unparalleled--to this day! If he used ornamentation, it was because the music director wanted them.
This is a very difficult song to sing and I think both Ali Hussain and Madhura Datar not only did their job very well but surpassed the expectations of the listeners. Great future awaits these two young promising artits.
