I like the fact that you have a variety pack at major music stores. I brought one and I was very pleased. I thought that the ZZ would work for me but my Theo Wanne Gaia 2 mouthpiece likes the Java green. I don’t even have to break them in.
The problem with those packs is that reeds can vary significantly just from one reed of the same cut to another, so you really need to play on more than one reed of a type to get a real assessment.
Dear Sir I know it’s been years since you posted this but I wanted to ask when you were testing these reads what mouthpiece were you using at that time thank you
i went straight to 3 a month after playing tenor and it made me sound so much better, i think. i played clarinet for a year and a half before hand though so i wasnt totally beginner
i hope u guys remake this vid. include the vandoren traditional and explain the reeds through words and play them one after the other in the end. also make sure the song being played through all the reeds is the same not random notes
Solo habla de que están ordenadas desde la caña más brillante hasta la más oscura y que tengas en mente que las cañas de jazz tienen . 5 menos resistencia en medida comparadas a las cañas clásicas y ya las va probando 1 por 1
For me the thickness of all the reeds was this: 1. Red (most soft, was way too buzzy, bright, and squeaky) 2. Green (best, was perfect strength) 3. ZZ (a little resistant and squeaky) 4. V16 (hard to blow but a great, dark, tone) I went with the 2.5 Java Greens. I disagree with your ratings only for the greens and the reds. I think the reds are the brightest sounding.
I can literally hear the green being the brightest. All of them sounds good. The green one is my preference though

Willow weeps for me I think Phil woods
I play a 2.5 Rico reed on my tenor right now. Should I get a 2.5 or 3 in the jazz reeds?
Go for a 3 mate and see how she feels, size 3 java green is ideal I reckon
more gaming strength 3 give you a brighter sound in the high registers
