I first heard le Le tombeau in 1974, played by John Browning, and thought it was the greatest piece of piano music I had ever heard. This is the best ever!
이런 아름다운 음악을 들을 수 있는 인생이라는게 너무 행복하고 축복받은 기분이다.
요즘것들은 하는것도 없고 너무 많은걸 원함ㅋ 나포함
와우 이분이 한국인이라는게 무지 자랑스럽고 감동입니다
토카타도 굉장하지만 프렐류드 푸가 포를랑 등 빠지는것 없이 최고입니다.. 열음님 책에서 프랑스인들이 자존심이 있어서 자국 곡을 외국인들이 치는걸 안좋아한다고 하셨는데, 어느 프랑스인이 호평하지 않을 수 있을까요. 좋은 연주 감사합니다

I hardly believe this is true. I never heard of French people finding unflattering Asian people would play Ravel or Debussy, especially considering how much Asian inspiration comes into their music.
I love this performance of it, I don't think I've heard anyone play it this way before, it's very interesting and such a unique take on such a wonderful piece.

Yeol Eum Sons fingers have saved the touch of the keys from Mozart, Schumann and so on, to this impressionism by Ravel. And I believe Ravel would have been very happy if he had understood that someone in the furure, coming from South Corea, should play his Le Tombeau de Couperin so well.

The way that she's able to get the dissonant notes to sound so mellifluous is simply incredible. Miss Son Yeol-Eum never ceases to amaze.
연주끝내주는건 말할것도 없이 손열음님은 레파토리가 진짜 넓은데 다 암보로 해버린다는게 정말 놀라움.. ㅠㅠ인간이냐규 !!그런것까지 다 치면 솔직히 아무리 객관적으로 보려해도 현존하는 피아니스트중 세계 1등찍을수있을것같앙 .. 더 넓은 세계로 더 훨훨 흥해라!!

She played the transitions in toccata so elegantly and seamlessly as if her soul merged with the notes themselves. This is definitely one of the best interpretations I've known.
가만히 듣다.. 5악장 거의 마지막에서 멜로디가 회귀할때 전에 알던 일상의 사사로운 감정들이 새로운 세계로 나를 이끈 것 같은 느낌

A few little keyslips, but who cares? this is by far the best interpretation of this suite I have ever heard - and I have known it intimately for many years....

이 곡 듣고 유튜브에 있는 모든 피아노버전을 다 들어봤는데 손열음 연주만큼 감정 전달이 되는 버전이 없었다
미국서 코로나뉴스로 머리가 복잡할때마다 애타게 찾아서 듣는 손열음씨의 피아노 소리는 내 영혼을 타독여 주는것 같읍니다. 제겐 머리보다 가슴으로 듣게 만드는 보기 드문 피아니스트 이에요 ^^
홀린듯 듣게된 곡이였네요 정말 멋진곡, 멋진 연주였습니다.
Очень поэтичное исполнение! Хочется в прелюдии и фуге скорбить о потерянных друзьях вместе с месье Равелем, хочется утешаться, танцуя в такт с форланой, играть с детьми в ригодоне, собирать цветы и предаваться сладким и нежным воспоминаниям в менуэте, вдыхать аромат жизни в токкате. Всё сделано с грациозностью и пониманием стиля. Я думаю, Морис снял бы перед Вами шляпу, мадам. 🎉

I first heard this amazing suite in 1974 - John Browning. But Yeol Eum Son has captured it perfectly. Absolutley amazing.
A very different take on the piece that makes you re-listen to the composition. Pacing is languid in a way that leaves certain notes and phrases hanging and makes a listener notice different structural elements. Truly unique take on the piece's dynamics as well. Very cool.

Probably the most delicate rendition I’ve ever heard. I thought she would stall in the Tocatta, with her signature dramatic pauses, but she shouldered her way through well, though without the technical excitement we have come to expect. Lovely tone in the slow and lyrical parts of the suite.
She saved the fire for her rendition of Petrushka which followed this performance.

The Toccata has to be Ravel's most challenging piano work but this performance makes it sound effortless!
There are a more challenging Ravel piecies out there. Give “The Scarbo” from Gaspard de la Nuit a listen, or even harder “La valse”.
