I’m so impressed with Luna sharing you with Oreo! You went from talking about Otessa to talking about Odessa and I wasn’t looking at the screen and I had to rewind so my brain could make sense of it😂 You look like recovery is going well❣️🤗 Less wasn’t my favorite but you and I differ quite a lot on our books so maybe you’ll enjoy it more!
😅 That happens to me too when I’m trying to catch up on videos. Both Oreo and Luna really are the sweetest. Bummer that you didn’t enjoy Less. Hopefully it’ll work better for me.
June is usually a great reading month for me, too! I hope you enjoy My Year Of R & R more than I did. 😅 For HF set in the U.S., Demon Copperhead would also be a good choice. I'm glad I finally read Homegoing. It did not disappoint. Lonesome Dove is one of your dad's favorites. I read In The Dream House, and I really want to read her short story collection.
I bet! Yes, Demon Copperhead would qualify. Glad you liked Homegoing. Yes! I know dad loved Lonesome Dove. Hopefully I will too. And you can borrow the short story collection when I’m done with it if you want to read it.
I read Lonesome Dove many years ago. Westerns aren't my thing, but I was trying to read the Pulitzer Prize winners. I liked it more than I thought I would. Hope you have a great reading month!
The kitten is so beautiful! 😍Happy birthday month! I loved Homegoing. I can't wait to hear your thoughts 😊I didn't love Less but I think it could really connect with certain people. I read Young Mungo and it was difficult. While it was probably a 5 star read I just found it pretty emotionally rough. Good luck!
Yes she is! Thank you! You’re the second person to say you didn’t connect with Less. Hopefully, I have a better time with it. And yes…I expect Shuggie Bain and Young Mungo to both be sad.
I know it has taken me a long time to see this video because Domino is still called Oreo here! I think I have all the historical fiction you mentioned here on my TBR bookshelf!
Ahh that's actually my fault. I keep switching between Domino and Oreo because frankly I like Oreo better. :) Nice! Look forward to your thoughts on these books.
I’ll have to check it out! I really ended up enjoying Fat Ham. The only other one I’ve read was Fair Rosaline by Natasha Solomon where Romeo is kind of a player. That one was pretty good.
Happy birthday month, hope it’s a great one!! Very interested in Homegoing, The House is on Fire, and Honey Girl, so I look forward to hearing your thoughts if you get to them 😊
I hate westerns, but Lonesome Dove is on my list of favorite books ever. It seems like a giant book, but you will be flying through it. Homegoing is a perfect example of why I hate short stories. It's not marketed as a collection of linked short stories, but that's what it is. The book is beautifully written, but you follow one character for a while, then a different one, over and over. You never get to know any of the characters because they're here for a minute and gone too soon. My Year of Rest and Relaxation is a wild walk into dark comedy. Just accept that the things going on in the book are actually doing so. You need to suspend your disbelief with this one; I think that's why it's such a cilantro book: you either love it or hate it. I can't wait to hear what you think of these!
Ooh that is good to hear about Lonesome Dove. Ahh. Good to know so I can go into Homegoing prepared. I tend to like dark comedy and subversive fiction, so I have a feeling I will like Rest and Relaxation. Thank you for the lovely comment! 💜
Lonesome Dove is amazing! There's a movie with Robert Duvall and Diane Lane that is also very good. I'll be the first to tell you that I didn't enjoy Homegoing. It read like a bunch of short stories. As soon as I started to get interested in one story, it moved onto another. Not a good format for me.
Yes! I’ve seen bits and pieces of the movie as a kid, but I was too young to really have paid much attention. Hopefully I’ll appreciate it as an adult. Ahh bummer to hear that you didn’t enjoy Homegoing. I don’t usually mind that format, so hopefully I’ll enjoy it.
Happy Birthday in advance! 🎂 Luna, and Oreo are sweet 🤍. 'All We Were Promised' is on my wish list. ''Homegoing' is sitting on my bookshelf, unread. Awesome choices.
Happy birthday! Aww little oreo! 🤍🖤 I’m glad she´ll have a happy home with your friend. I remember hating My Year of Rest & Relaxation when I read it a few years ago. I read Eileen recently and loved that so maybe I should try it again. I also want to get to Shuggie Bain soon!
Thank you! Yes! I’m happy she’ll have a happy home too. Yeah, Rest and Relaxation seems to be very polarizing. I have heard good things about Eileen. Shuggie Bain is brutal from what I hear, but sometimes those are the best books.
Lonesome Dove is one of my all-time favorite books. The characters and their relationships are what totally sucked me in. I am sure you will love it!
Ooh good to hear! Thank you!

Oreos squeaks and Luna snores. Best video out today! 😄
It was a bit noisy, but I’m glad you enjoyed it! They both sure are adorable.
Enjoy your June reading. Oreo is so sweet. The Great Divide sounds intriguing.
Thank you! You too!
THAT SWEET KITTEN OMG!!
Loved Shuggie Bain and The Great Believers!
Good to hear!
You always pick such interesting books - I haven't even heard of most of these! I'm hoping to complete the bingo card. 😊
Thank you! I try to keep things interesting. Good luck with the bingo card! That’s my goal too.
So many books also on my TBR. Valentine was a 4 star read for me. Tough content at times but well written.
Glad to hear that you liked Valentine!
YESSSSS Her Body & Other Parties!
So excited!!

Hopefully that will be the case for me!
Oreo is so cute!! and love this tbr, added a bunch to my summer tbr :)
Thank you! Yes! She's just getting cuter and fluffier too! I hope you enjoy any of the titles that you try. :)

Trancendent Kingdom by Yaa Gasi was one of my favorite books I read last year, I need to get to Homegoing!
That's good to hear. I have Transcendent Kingdom and honestly haven't heard too many good reviews of it.
I know it has taken me a long time to see this video because Domino is still called Oreo here!

Ahh that's actually my fault. I keep switching between Domino and Oreo because frankly I like Oreo better. :)
Nice! Look forward to your thoughts on these books.
I've actually read a couple Shakespeare retellings... my favorite at the moment is Miranda and Caliban by Jaqueline Carey 🤗

@@BandysBooks thank you! 😀
We share the same birthday!! 🎉 Happy Birthday!!
Happy birthday, birthday twin!

Also, keep a bucket handy for Manhunt! 🤢

Yes! That one seems a bit gruesome!
My birthday is June 20th! My wedding anniversary is 6/21! Yay! 😄 👏🏻 🎉
Hey birthday twin! Happy birthday month! 🎉

You will love Loneome Dove. It is very human and flawed. It is not at all what you expect from a Western.
That’s what I keep hearing! Fingers crossed. Thank you!
Happy Birthday in advance! 🎂 Luna, and Oreo are sweet 🤍. 'All We Were Promised' is on my wish list. ''Homegoing' is sitting on my bookshelf, unread. Awesome choices.
Thank you! 💜 I’m hoping to start All We Were Promised in the next few days. I’ve already started Homegoing and am loving it so far.

@@BandysBooks Yes! I pretty much always prefer books that don’t shy away from difficult themes.
