It's great to see this development. However, it's worth noting that many of the animations were already part of the game, which impacts their uniqueness. Still, this is a neat addition!
I mean, what do you want them to do? Make new custom animations for every fusion spell? We barely get new animations as it is. At least you could do is be grateful that they incorporated this spell fusion neatly and not made such risky changes. Putting more time into animation equals less time on the actual concept you are trying to provide.

Oh yikes, they say these are new but really they're just old or re-used copies of spells that weren't trainable. Still nice to see them making changes and updates, hopefully they change the sound effects of the newer spells so they're more unique
Best/most unique looking (in order of appearance): Scorphion, Mind Blown!, Desert Lord, Centaurion, Pyre Dragon, Stormin Gorgon. Honorable mentions to Primal Stampede, Forest Fire, Joltergeist, and Poisonous Toad.
OMG I said the same thing! glad I am not the only one that thinks this way, while watching this video all I said was why ? why in the hell make this so complicated instead of putting some cool quest so we can learn this and make it fun and unique for our wizards and not destroy the whole lord or uniqueness of every wizard.
Precisely. These are really just mutation and treasure card spells with different abilities and gambits and the trade off is they do a different school's damage. I probably won't be using any of these unless any of them have an incredibly useful utility on them that is worth saving up for.

The fire fusion spells are just embarrassing. All of them are just enemy NPC animations from dragonspyre and grizzleheim
these spells look great but the sound effects need a bit of tweaking to match the school effects. more zapping/electrical currents for storm weaves as an example. other than that, fun additions!
I wish KI had come up with original spells that made sense given each school’s cultural/mythological identity, as well as not simply just reskinning old spells. It’s been done in the past with mutates (sun school) or mutated versions of other spells (non-sun, like colossus and earth walker, or scarab and frost beetle), so this isn’t exactly a new precedent. Ultimately they decided its utility and novel mechanism was worth more than spending more time to make the animation or originality of these spells less jank. It saddens me since I feel like there was a lot of potential, but I guess it’s just not within their budget or timeframe
The point of spell weaving is basically to replace mutation, as you combine a card of your school with a different school's (via weaved school) to get a new variant, hence why they used the reskins.
I semi agree. I heard unlocking just one spell from this new mechanic is a huge grind, and I just can’t help but wonder if the devs even play their own game because who thinks it’s fun fighting the same boss over and over for a spell
@@PixieBladeArt No spell or combination of spell will ever be able to compare to buff aoe unless they released a spell that was literally just 'and then you win the combat with this spell'. Buff-buff-aoe is the stealth archer playstyle of the game, its th most efficient way to play because it exploits the way that the system was built to give the maximum output for the minimum input.
The thing is they can't just keep adding AOE's to the game every update. We already got a new meta aoe in the last world update. I like that they're adding stuff outside the buff buff aoe meta without necessarily making either playstyle obsolete. Plus, the new Selenopolis school spells and same school fusion spells are pretty good single target spells.

I'm a Fire main so I'm mostly liiking at fire. Others could be better, but I don't know the classes well enough to judge them, so for now I'm just going to be talking about fire fusions. Lightning Dragon on paper looks like genuinely one of the best ones you can get for fire and is probably going to be the one I pick up, but the investment for it seems ridiculous. You need 9 training points to get Triton, then 2 more to get the actual spell. 11 training points to get a single target version of a spell that will take you to the level cap that does around 100 more base damage, most of which is for a class you don't have stats for, that will be basically be made up for by the stats given by the Water Works gear in a few levels. Granted, base card is better than the next few fire single targets, but any real difference should be easily made up for by gear. Cryo Cat is (in my oppinion) the next best one for Fire to go for due to its detonate. But to me it's just off brand A-baahh-calypse

One: its nice knowing someone else made a connection to Yu-Gi-Oh besides myself. two: I honestly do kinda feel the same way. a lot of these spells don't feel really.....big. I think if they did something similar to the differences between Deer Knight & Reindeer Knight, then I'd be interested, but these really feel quite simplistic. As you kinda mentioned, a lot of the Yu-Gi-Oh fusions, as meaningless as a lot of the early ones were, at least felt impactful, such as Chimera, Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, Dark Paladin, etc. a few of these fusions make sense and actually seem pretty cool, namely the ones with more stronger cards like Grimzilla & Pyre Dragon. Sun vulture fusing Phoenix & dark sprite rather than sun bird, to make it feel impactful), or maybe combining school identity's more, which they "sorta" do, but I'd think they could make it more interesting than just using the PVP versions of the spells, like if Lightning Dragon was some sort of Hit & Trap or even a Hit & Link sort of deal.

I was really hoping we could get any fusions from any schools provided we had the training point “86 new spells” but you can only possibly get 3 of them for your wizard? Also why does balance always get screwed over 😡 I guess this is really just a tiny expansion to make a secondary school more viable. Oh yea except gear.

Bro its 80+ new spells. Aint no way you expect them to have 75% of these be new, unique animations made in less than the span of a year. Let’s be realistic. This is coming from someone whose done this work before, and KI’s teams are spread thin. This is easily one of their biggest updates, and extremely unique and a fun spin on it - The animations may be reused but the effects are fun and different, and is a nice introduction.

None of these spells even come close to breaking or even affecting the PvE meta of buffing + AoE And considering the only gear set outside of crowns packs that gives dual school damage are the lvl 50 malistaire drops there is 0 reason to use these, and the best school gear sets are school locked. Also, these spells suffer from deck rng, you NEED both spells to make a fusion, if you don't get either of them you're stuck with your school's spell that you might as well just use or the other school spell that is utterly useless on its own
Also it's ceaselessly funny that they pushed dual schooling this hard but still didn't give a solution to school spells you can't get outside of spell quests like Scarecrow
For the first part, that is literally not the point of the spells, if you wanna always play perfectly optimally, that's fine, but that's not what should be the only option. That is true. That is kinda half true, since if you're using these you're inherently not setting up your deck for quick "Get the exact card you need quickly" gameplay anyways. Honestly, mechanically I have no issue, what I have an issue with is how lazy the spells actually are. At least half should have been quite literally two spells combining. Like Catch Of The Day & Burning Rampage.
Extremely disappointed, to be quite frank. This could’ve been a real chance actually to create new spells and do different things, but it’s just…. I guess it’s something.
While i like the idea of the spells, ill probably never use them unless i 100% have to. The whole thing about deck building is to add the least amount of cards needed so your not wasting rounds searching for specific ones. So having to make sure i have 2 seperate spells in my hand, in a boss fight would mean having multiple copies of both to increase the odds, which everyone will agree, can get frustrating when you constantly dont get the card you need when. You need it.
Imagine just retexturing some old animations and saying that "we added new visuals for magicweavint thingg" its like GOING TO THE FUCKING MICHELIN STAR RESTAURANT JUST TO GET A MICROWAVED OLD MEAL FROM CENTURIEA AGO. Every school got their best round-1 AOE in Wallaru. And a handful of these fusion spells are AOEs. There are valid criticisms to make about KI but this one is nonsensical lmao.

I'm 50/50 on this some of the spells you get with pets gear and TC they could just gave us these spells through the arcanum to be honest some of them we seen though out the story already it be different of it was spells we could not get or have not seen some of them not worth going for.

For variety 🤷🏾♂️ They can't keep brining out new AOE's every year, we just got a new meta AOE in the last world. At least these can be used for raids, cheating bosses, challenge mode etc and provide new endgame content

that was literally the entire point. from the get-go they were upfront about the fact that they were going to be using all of the old non-trainable spells as a way to combine school identities utility wise. this shouldn't have been a surprise and was never presented as one
So let me get this straight , this people could literally just give us the option to learn this spells and keep the whole vibe of uniqueness to every single wizards and just put like quest or adventures for us to learn it, instead the screwed up the whole aspect of the game and give us this colluded combination crap just to learn spells that were already in the game? holy crap talking about waste of TIME!
KI is making a big push to make dual schooling more viable! It looks like a lot of what the new area, Selenopilis, is going to be is a hub for these new systems. Selenopilis is going to have, to my knowledge, a new tutorial on archmastery (pip system already added that lets you get other school power pips easily), trainers for these fusions (new system they're adding here, you'll be able to obtain these through training points), and quest givers for spellweaving (looks like it'll be a system to better implement stats to bring you closer to your second school? Not really sure on this one myself). Hope this helps!

Which just further locks casual players out of it AND is another gatekeep to pvp if they were good for it. Kingsisle gonna need to redo the entire combat system at some point with how this keeps going. Because if they want a roshambo style so badly, aoes would need to not be a thing. And the only way aoes won't be a thing, is if they aren't needed and cheating bosses are changed
Yeah again and again exactly the same animations, textures and models. They are already overcooked with all of these. I really miss so much the time this game feels like unique and exciting. I quit 2 years ago and still waiting for a notable update but it seems this will never happen. Kingisle should not have selled this game to Gamigo for sure.

For the first part, that is literally not the point of the spells, if you wanna always play perfectly optimally, that's fine, but that's not what should be the only option.

That is kinda half true, since if you're using these you're inherently not setting up your deck for quick "Get the exact card you need quickly" gameplay anyways.
Honestly, mechanically I have no issue, what I have an issue with is how lazy the spells actually are. At least half should have been quite literally two spells combining. Like Catch Of The Day & Burning Rampage.
Extremely disappointed, to be quite frank. This could’ve been a real chance actually to create new spells and do different things, but it’s just…. I guess it’s something.
Why the myth vamp reminds me of Scooby Doo
While i like the idea of the spells, ill probably never use them unless i 100% have to. The whole thing about deck building is to add the least amount of cards needed so your not wasting rounds searching for specific ones. So having to make sure i have 2 seperate spells in my hand, in a boss fight would mean having multiple copies of both to increase the odds, which everyone will agree, can get frustrating when you constantly dont get the card you need when. You need it.
Imagine just retexturing some old animations and saying that "we added new visuals for magicweavint thingg" its like GOING TO THE FUCKING MICHELIN STAR RESTAURANT JUST TO GET A MICROWAVED OLD MEAL FROM CENTURIEA AGO. Oh my god i hate the fact that KI development team is too lazy to do anhthing decent. People pay you money for this game minthly so get your hands in your pocket, hire animators/drawers/designers or whatever it is, do a defent job with an expansion for once. Jesus christ i hate them always being half hearted everytime.

Every school got their best round-1 AOE in Wallaru. And a handful of these fusion spells are AOEs. There are valid criticisms to make about KI but this one is nonsensical lmao.
@@Benjamin8693 The wallaru Aoe's are useless they just do in all attack and that's about it and they also look like lvl 15 spells their damage is so low also you would think a lvl 170 would have a higher damage spell making these AOE's wouldn't be so bad at all

spellweaving starts at level 50, that's 120 levels of waiting for that aoe

they really added 90 new spells and a fusion mechanic just to make it only useful in pvp and its gimmicky and borderline useless there too

I'm 50/50 on this some of the spells you get with pets gear and TC they could just gave us these spells through the arcanum to be honest some of them we seen though out the story already it be different of it was spells we could not get or have not seen some of them not worth going for.

For variety 🤷🏾♂️ They can't keep brining out new AOE's every year, we just got a new meta AOE in the last world. At least these can be used for raids, cheating bosses, challenge mode etc and provide new endgame content

They look like they can be given they have the normal spell card look. They aren’t item cards or treasure cards nor are they already enchanted
I think they said on one of the streams that the spells once fused could still be enchanted as usual
They can, spell fusions turn the spells into a spell card, not an item or treasure card, so you can enchant it however you please

going through the entire video, a good 60-70% of these spells are just recycled TCs, item cards, mutates, or boss spells (not to mention the 'new' ones look worse imo). congrats KI
that was literally the entire point. from the get-go they were upfront about the fact that they were going to be using all of the old non-trainable spells as a way to combine school identities utility wise. this shouldn't have been a surprise and was never presented as one

KI is making a big push to make dual schooling more viable! It looks like a lot of what the new area, Selenopilis, is going to be is a hub for these new systems. Selenopilis is going to have, to my knowledge, a new tutorial on archmastery (pip system already added that lets you get other school power pips easily), trainers for these fusions (new system they're adding here, you'll be able to obtain these through training points), and quest givers for spellweaving (looks like it'll be a system to better implement stats to bring you closer to your second school? Not really sure on this one myself). Hope this helps!

@@AgilityFire Yeah most of these are garbage. Especially when you realize the time it takes to get max rank. Which just further locks casual players out of it AND is another gatekeep to pvp if they were good for it. Kingsisle gonna need to redo the entire combat system at some point with how this keeps going. Because if they want a roshambo style so badly, aoes would need to not be a thing. And the only way aoes won't be a thing, is if they aren't needed and cheating bosses are changed

Yeah again and again exactly the same animations, textures and models. They are already overcooked with all of these. I really miss so much the time this game feels like unique and exciting. I quit 2 years ago and still waiting for a notable update but it seems this will never happen. Kingisle should not have selled this game to Gamigo for sure.
