Those trims around the Herald headlights are so very of the era……reminds me of the spectacles which ladies of a certain age tended to wear in days gone by…..very “Dame Edna” or “Mrs Brady Old Lady” from Viz comic! 😂😂
I had exactly the same with my old Spitfire. Would not run right no matter what I did. Swapped the champion plugs with NGKs and it did the job. Great to see the fleet getting more love!
And Alex said "Verily, let there be light" and "Low, there was light upon the Marina and Herald and all was at peace with the world". Another fiddly but very essential job done. The last time I had a headlight changed in my S Class I needed CPR when I got the bill. Just a thought Alex, have you ever considered getting one of those folding type stool thingies to sit on? Helps with the knees and bending, just a thought. I do love both the Herald and the Marina, they are just so Alex. Another great video Alex and another step towards both cars becoming genuine Alexmobiles.
Hi Alex n Remi, Another enjoyable watch, glad you have sorted your headlamps. Pleased to hear your little finger is on the mend, you'll soon ne back to normal. 😃 I do have some new spare number plate bulbs if you need them. I think they're known as Festoon bulbs. In my local "Roy's of Wroxham" store in their books range they have aLand Rover History book and wondered if you would like a copy? 🤔 Let me know about either item and I can send them to you if required. Take care, Jon B. 🤓
Hi Alex, the headlamp retainer rings usually have a keyhole shaped slot for the screw heads. You can just loosen them and give the rim a twist to pop it off. The outer trim usually only have one screw. The two holes are so it will fit either hand when access to the screw is difficult from directly below. It might be worth checking the valve clearances, in case they're tight on that odd cylinder. Stick some upper cylinder lubricant in the fuel in case it has accumulated some carbon build up, it sounds nice running on the Stromberg.😁
Brilliant Alex and Remi, the triumph sounds brilliant. I love a bit of 'Light entertainment'. I found with my 75 the rear numberplate light covers do like to melt a bit as mine has.
Trouble is that as the bulb ages, it gets thinner and burns hotter resulting in melting any plastic lenses around it. Tapping them often finishes them off. Best to replace any with black on them.
Its great that youve gotten the Herald to run smoothly. It reminded me that my Dolomite Sprint doesnt like Champion plugs. I changed to Bosch on it i think. But these days i try and get NGK plugs for all my cars, bikes and scooter. Japanese quality - better than most things. Glad the fingers improving, youll have to try not to slap your partner with that hand : )
That P4 looks great in the driveway. The marina looks like such a usefull daily driver. Id use the leds on it. Much brighter then the halogens. Ive got led bulbs in the origonal lucas housings of my P2 Sports. The white light is a game changer out in the country at night.
replace those headlamp screws with stainless i got a big bag on Ebay for about 7 quid, enough for a lifetime lol they should be 6G X 3/8 going by the rover p6 ones. Wiggington Fastners are pretty cheap
Just think, if your driveway was a little bit longer you could get another couple of classic cars on it. I bet the neighbours think your bonkers (in the nicest possible way), glad the finger is healing up. Expect a phone call from the company, asking when your fit to work again.
On Jon Coupland Cars channel they had “Champion” plug caps (modern reproductions) on the Lanchester, they caused problems until replaced when all was suddenly fine.
Hi alex loving the videos on the marina great car now cars should be, hoping to see more on mr Jenkins .did I hear sorry about spelling remi as his own channel if so I'd love to have a look. Cheers keep warm . Roll on spring Michael and Karen
That Herald front wheel looks to have pretty excessive camber, even for a Herald ! I think there should be shim plates behind the wishbones to adjust…..
Did you upgrade the pixie pathway(wiring loom) with a relay and thicker wires to run those halogens? They are higher amperage than tungsten filament bulbs.
It’s a shame proper Champion disappeared, there was a big factory near me at Upton on the Wirral, it shut about 20 years ago. We also used to have Mobil, Castrol and Shell oils produced in the area, all gone now.
@@johnmoruzzi7236 Champion plugs were a standard fit on many British cars years ago and they worked well. Such a shame it's all changed, we don't seem to have much left of these old trusted companies.

Great work both. That little Herald is a gem.

Quite a productive day Alex!
The Herald sound s fine, Most Triumphs need NGK plugs, My Stag, and the Herald, and my Lancia. Well done, great Video. Cheers Bob

I know the answer to you owning so many cars Alex. Convert the garage to live in and the bungalow into a garage, simples 😊
Perfect

I'm stealing that lol xx

If the 75 keeps blowing bulbs, check the alternator is not overcharging. Simple voltmeter job at various revs & equipment loadings.

10:00 That brings back BAD memories. lol
21:27 - Yay!!!!
Great video Alex. I'm Opposite to you with my old bikes , swopping NGK for champions. There's lots of fake NGK out there.
On Jon Coupland Cars channel they had “Champion” plug caps (modern reproductions) on the Lanchester, they caused problems until replaced when all was suddenly fine.
I like the Herald Estate as it is a pretty car.
In the late 60si used to fit the headlight rims and set the headlights on a track doing 30 cars a hour 🥰🥰

No Remi hasn't got his own channel 😊

NGK are good
Oh yes, I can not wait until we meet up again to do some burps.
I saw your marina on another you tube channel the other day I didn't realise your husband had a channel aswell lol.
I'm not married 😅😅
Sensible woman lol.
@LeeFradley 😆
@LeeFradley I'm also deeply disturbed you think I'm married to Joseph Lloyd!?
I put 2 and 2 together and get 5 lol.
Sounds like you get on well with the neighbours
I don't really pay much attention to them lol

I did say in the video I will ve fitting relays 😄
@@Alexsassets My apologies, I shouldn't watch videos whilst eating dinner as it affects my concentration.
@AB-ku4my it's ok 😄 . Best time to watch vids 👌
Champion spark plugs are crap . Never use them.
You can't trust champion stuff as it's just a licenced brand name like Lucas, it's all various qualities but mostly terrible
