- I woke up and decided it was time to do a weekend in the life. I've got a video for Saturday June 29th (this one) and a video for Sunday June 30th (the next one). Hopefully this will give you an idea of the hard graft that has to be put in each weekend at the house. I basically squeeze a week's worth of work into about 12 hours each weekend. It's a long one, so do let me know what you think!

The next few weeks of videos will have lots going on, and hopefully this will lead up to a lot of progress for the house and land over the Summer. Hearing your thoughts on things is always a lovely boost and motivation.
Morrigan's Cottage is a 200 year old traditional stone cottage set in the west of Ireland on just under 4 acres. Originally this house would have been used by the local farmers, rented from their British landlords. Dated back to at least the early 1800s, someone has been consistently living here and farming this land since then, up until about 4 years ago when the house was left vacant by the previous owners.

Hi Aisling, Loved the long video but 3 times I tried to watch and what happens all my kids decide to phone me, I was thinking conspiracy to be honest, then after talking to all 3 boys, My Daughter text can I let the dogs out as she was delayed, Jeez lol, so it is now 1.19 AM and just got to finish watching it all. And Bees and birds Oh no, that's the problem with old houses they always have an issue some where. However your doing great and having that new tool will help in many ways as you go, I loved the tiles, get some ceramic paint's and design something on them ? not bees right enough. And your right to wait and get professional help with things your not sure of as it will all get done but safely,looking forward to your Q +A so My Q is do you work remote or do you go into work, if so will that not be such a long journey ??? Oh my goodness you stayed up so late to watch it! I hope you enjoyed and it wasn’t too long! I guess it’s not the worst thing to be in the roof, and hopefully when new gutters go in I can close off any gaps up there! I guess it’s just a part of country living! And the idea for the tiles is great, I do definitely want to use them for something since they’ve survived so long! And that’s for the Q! The bad news is that it’s nothing interesting - the doorway just leads into the main bedroom, would have been the original doorway from when the cottage was built (which it was a secret room but alas!)

I’d make a fortune if they did pay rent! Lots of good work done at least, things are really starting to move along it’s brilliant!
My dear child I send you this with my best wishes for you but you need to have a deep long talk with yourself about living in the rural/country. bees, birds, frogs, mice have lived there for millions of years before humans it is their place. if you can not accept and learn to live with them then it is not the place for you. you say you want hens&chickens what happens when a fox or weasel comes in the night? do you have a gun? can you shoot? are you frozen in fear listening to the shreaking of them being mauled and eaten. come the winter time mice in invade your house they will be in your cabinets drawers closets gnaw and chew through all your food and shit all over the place can you deal with that? can you spend nights alone in the dark and sleep with out being scared out of your whits? you have so much to learn about what it takes to live in a place like that. may the angels flap their wings in your favor ☘
Hi there, thanks for the advice, I’ve lived alone for years and I’m no stranger to birds, bees and animals, but I’d rather they didn’t live in my roof 😂
so many we’s in your descriptions ugh but.. sometimes things are not exactly how things turn out as ‘we’ are working towards updating a old home, and property. I think you should take a few steps backwards now, and monthly, and think about everything more in what you can actually accomplish yourself, with each project monthly, as it seems you are also learning about living rural, with having these new experiences, so you need the time to adapt as well, as your old home, and garden, and gardening skills improves, and for planning financially.
Thanks for the advice, I think things are going pretty well as they are to be honest, the groundwork is going in now so that when grant is approved services can come in right away and begin work, in the mean time painting outside, stripping cement, and garden works are about all that can be done. Not sure what you mean about the we’s in the descriptions

I ended up doing a bit more hand chipping which be in the next video! But at least it’ll be mostly by sds now! Hopefully get a lot more of it down now!

First off, from watching some other of my subscribed videos, having longer videos can create more income, so correspond with YT re that!
Secondly, for being a "city girl" you're doing a hell of a job figuring out how to be a "country girl "!
But I agree with another poster, you're going to have to learn to deal with the not so nice aspects of country life.
Also, plz don't spend too much time on one area of renovation. Your body won't like you, and you're going to need your body to do things for a long time❤
Longer videos might make more money I’m not sure to be honest with you, I only make a euro or two per video so it’s not a lot anyway! And thank you, I definitely think I’m adjusting and dealing with rural life, it’s an adjustment but getting there!

Progress looks great, you should keep those tiles and repurpose them into place mat for pans by sticking them to some cork backing.
I don't know much about bumble bees, but I do know that they are much smaller colonies than honey bees.
That’s such a good idea about the tiles!! I definitely want to use them because they’re such a random but cute find! There’s SO much wildlife making itself at home, I’m just salty that the birds and bees got to move in before I did 😂😂

Hi Aisling, I guess that room used to be the kitchen and the tiles may have been where the cooker used to stand. I'm pleased you have a new tool to make your life so much easier. It's amazing that you have so many bees whilst their numbers are in awful decline and some hives have been wiped out this year.

Oh no that’s terrible, bees are one thing but wasps are a different ball game… it’s so unfortunately that they pick these places!!!! Hopefully they will leave your roof soon enough 🥲
Yes.this is the 3rd nest ..in my roof I only got it done a little over a year ago...so annoying

Thank you! It is a small bit of pride seeing just how much I manage to get done, but I could see it in my face by the end of the video I looked exhausted, it’ll be nice to not fit a week or work in a couple hours hopefully soon when i move in! Thanks so much for watching ❤️
