This is interesting watching this in Feb 2023 after the song Creepin by Metro, The Weeknd, and 21 Savage just came out 2 months ago, but Devvon made this video over a year ago beforehand
I found your channel a few days ago. To say that you are on another level with content is an understatement. Your content is clean, and to the point. Your video production is not overdone, and clean as well. I usually don’t write comments, but I know it does help the channel. I am a new subscriber, and look forward to many years of your excellent content.
This is such a great tutorial on delays. You really helped me understand the basics. I have the H-Delay and I pretty much would swaps thru their preset of rap Vox and your preset delay from a different video and would adjust the echo knob only. Thank you for thr in-depth vid of what the knobs can do. This was a great video 10/10
i really liked your video, with great examples and not complex explanations. do you have a video for new people on mixing teaching difference of sends and bus?
amazing video thanks for the info. I do have a question though, how would you start a mix when using the Devvon Terrell Signature Vocal Chain, do you leave the plugins alone or do you remove them and start fresh?
Man I’m a beginner and I don’t understand hearing the sounds that your talking about I understand what your saying I just don’t hear what your saying the song literally sounds the same some times it. Gets louder but other then that’s I hear no difference when your messing with the nobs lol 🤦🏽♂️ I know I probably sound dumb to y’all pros
I've been watching all your videos lately and I think you're doing a great job. But there are some problems with the details, like a lot of times I don't know if you put the effect plug-in on the soundtrack, or on the send? Sometimes you hang up two reverbs (long and short), but I don't know how you make them work? As a newbie, I still don't understand. I think if there are teaching videos, I hope to talk more carefully. Judging from the number of views, the initial video click rate of your channel is the highest, and each video is viewed by hundreds of thousands of people. You should stick to that style and speak more carefully. A little advice.
In general, if you want processing to be a core part of the sound, put it on the track itself. Otherwise, use a send. Example 1, you have a nice dry vocal but want to add secondary effects such as delay and reverb, use a send. Example 2, you want to absolutely fuck shit up and affect THE ENTIRE CORE SOUND with a phaser, put it on the track. You wouldn't use an EQ or compressor as a send in this case either. You want to change the core sound. Special cases apply in parallel compression, exciters/special EQ tricks where using a send is encouraged. Using sends is best where you don't want to mess up the gain structure/balance of your work. Let's say I'm lazy and decide to slap a reverb right on the track. Later I find I want to make the vocal more dry, so I adjust the wet/dry knob toward dry. Okay, its more dry but the vocal got louder? So now I'm rebalancing on the trim or the fader. Okay, but what if I change my mind again? What if I would like to make automations for sections of songs? The balance goes haywire. Its more work. All solved by using a send and just automating only the send. What if I want to create throws? Do sidechains on my FX? You need a send for that too. What if the reverb is getting too much sibilance but the dry is fine? Send. Any extra processing can only be done on sends.
@@babymixswing2269 For multiple reverbs (and multiple delays) use sends. Most engineers encourage using pre-fader sends so the balance only affects the fader you change. I personally don't mind and use post-fader sends. I like having the automations sent too. Set the settings that you want for each effect. When you start to blend, remember all these FX will stack so you might find yourself using less than if I only had one FX. This is especially true for multiple reverbs. If you can feel the effect that's good. If that's all you can hear, that's too much. Somewhere in between that is the sweetspot.
Every producer friend of mine says i mix so good , all because of you , thankyou so much
