The positioning of the usb-c cable on this thing is maddening!
Thank you so much for this. Mine didn’t come with any instructions and I totally didn’t see where the power cable was meant to go in at the bottom! Saved me ages of faffing around
How come? It needs some intelligence, that's all
What exactly do you get out of writing that comment? This person put this video up for people like me. Congratulations to you on being so perfect: don’t know what you are doing here if you’re not looking something up yourself 😍
@@emilymalbon5357 I’m with u on this
Same I couldn’t find where power cable goes. Saved me a lot of time. Thanks
@@emilymalbon5357 Sometimes in life you should enjoy figuring things out by yourself and not jump to any shortcuts. I don't think it was that difficult to figure out.
Thank you! By u showing where to plug in the power for the HP docking station, I was then able to finish setting up my two monitors and have power! Now I can be productive again.
Thank you so much for this. There is no way I would have known there is a power cable hidden under there. It is finally working for me. Thank you so much. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Me too! Yay!
Same here. :D
thank you for this -- my company sent me the docking station with a thousand cables and no instructions -- THANK YOU!!!!
I had to watch this video to be able to find were can I connect the charger to HP USB 😄 Thank you sir
Thank you for making my decision on which docking station to get much easier. This is what I need!
Can you show us how to connect it.
It would be helpful if you will explain what to connect where. I am still struggling looking at your cables all o ver the desk….
Just connect the attached USB c to the laptop & that's it, it installed itself nothing else to setup, you then just plug in all other peripherals in the back into the USB ports ie, keyboard mouse, monitor in hdmi & network cable if you have one.
Thank you so much. A complete lifesaver since I was given this at work
I wish my work gave one to me lol
i wish i had one of these, would make life for me and my streaming so much easier
Hi, does this docking station works with DisplayLink? Would it work with new MacBook with M1 chip? Thanks you
Thank you for this video…you have saved me many hours of frustration.
Thank you for a quick and easy tutorial!
Weird place for a power cable. Without this video i would have never used this docking station lol.
Hi. Thanks for the video. I have a question. I recently got this dock station but I have a HP Elitebook. I have found that charging mode from the Dock does not work so I have to keep the charger connected. USB keybord and USB mouse works fine but not able to watch the desktop in an external display. The monitor is connected to the HDMI port of the dock but I only get a black screen. Any idea how to solve this issue? Thank you so much!
I have the same issue did you ever find a way to fix?
That's really convenient! The HP USB C G5 Dock seems like a great addition to simplify laptop connectivity and charging.
I'm interested in knowing more about the compatibility with different laptop brands. Does it work smoothly with laptops from other brands like Dell and Lenovo as well?
Mine was not plug and play, how do you get it to actually work because I have no display on the monitor
Same, my monitor doesnt register, and my laptop isnt getting powered from the usbc
Honestly didn't find the power port easily. Thanks for sharing
Is the dock power button capable of turning on the laptop?
Extremely helpful, thank you!
My company sent me this today and I ran into an issue. It just keeps blinking when my laptop is on and plugged in. No charging or anything. I am so frustrated and confused.
You fixed my issue thank you mr!
Hello! Good video! Works with Dell Laptops? The power botton button turn on the laptop withou using tyhe laptop button? Thanks!
HDMI worked for second monitor?
thanks, no mention if there is a sw driver or a "special" usb -c port required, planning to use it on a non hp laptop, an MSI actually...
THANK YOU! POWER CORD GOES IN BOTTOM 🤣🤣🤣
Thank you soooo much I was struggling for HOURS!
how many displays i can conect with this dock station?
what is the use of the power button? if i press it nothing happens, it works automaticly?
My headphone is not working after i connecting my laptop to the doc. Tried on all the usb port.
How do you connect dual monitors? My monitor has only 2 HDMI and 1 VGA port. How I can connect dual displays to this docking station?
does this work with hp pavillion 14 laptop to a single monitor
Is it possible to connect an old Mac book (thunderbolts 2) to this docking? Is there any adapter?
Does it work for dual monitors?
Is it possible to stop the charging feature while using the dock for the LAN and mouse? My HP laptop heats up because it is always charging
Thank you for your video.
I am planing to buy this dock. I just need one clarification to get it.
My laptop charger is rated at 150W.
What is your laptop charger rate? is it 100W?
Thank you very much for this information!
Ok, so can i power on my HP Envy directly using this, I mean directly power on my HP laptop using the docking, without having to open up my notebook?
Yes you can use your laptop as a stationary pc. No need to open the cover.
is the docking station compatible with MacBook?
Thank you for the video. It was very helpful!
Whats the output voltage and amps of USB3.0 ports? Is it okay to charge smartwatch?
Is this able to output to 3 extended 2k displays from Mac mini M1
Will this power and charge a laptop/notebook?
Does someone know if displays are compatible with 2k and 4k ? I find this info nowhere 😞
What a great video.
do you know where i can find the usb-c adapter that's shown in the manual? bought one for my work laptop, but my home computer doesn't have usb-c ports and i can't connect my screens, mouse, keyboard... :)))
My workplace tech guys said to plug both powercords for the hub and pc in.
You only need to plug the power lead into the dock, if the laptop says it's charging then no need to plug the power lead into the laptop aswell.
I'll stick with them, since it is a big company and their equipment. Also the power suppy for the docking station (6.15 amps) is rated for less amps than the laptop (7.7 amps).
So to charge the laptop battery while not using it, maybe, but to run my laptop with powerhungery apps, no. Ironically the powercord from the walloutlet to the powersuppy for the hub is bigger than for the laptop (might not be grounded).
As they say, your results may vary.
Different voltage might make a difference too (USA vs. Europe)
Hello there!
I wish to connect 2 monitors to my laptop, but the monitors have HDMI ports instead of Display Ports. If I buy an HDMI-DP cable, or use an adapter on my HDMI cable which transforms one end to a Display Port, and I use it this way, should it interfere with anything? Would it still charge my laptop and share the video? Or do I have to change to monitors with Display Ports?
Thank you in advance!
Does the button on the top of the dock turn the connected laptop on? I am looking for a dock, which can turn a laptop on, keeping the lid closed. Thanks!
Yes if you have hp laptop
So this can’t work with 2 displays?
Where can I find the power adapter?
The power supply is the one that comes with HP laptops.
I cannot connect my Huawei P20 through the USC cable and the HDMI cable to the TV. Please help?
I have been looking for this. Thank you!
Where is the process of connecting it with PC and other device. You are just showing the unboxing...??
It's just the USB c attached cable that plugs into your usb c port on laptop.
how well is it at gaming?
What is the external monitor you've used in the video? I see it is BenQ, but I'd like to know the exact model, thank you!
Thank you
will that be working on usb 3 port after putting a port converter
what are the specs of the charger?
Where did you order the docking station from?
Is this compatible with a USB C enabled Dell laptop?
Do you have to have the power bar plugged in or is that to charge the docking station?
You have to have the power plugged into the dock for it to work, plug it also changes the laptop via the USB c cable if your laptop is capable of USBC charging.
Interesting input design. If that USBc cable or connector breaks you need a whole new unit. Lol
Which version of DisplayPort does this use? 1.2 or 1.4?
It must be DP 1.3 because it supports 5120x2880@60HZ over Displayport. Also 4K60 is supported. 8K is not supported so not DP 1.4.
is there any way to keep charging off??
No i don't think so not with this type of dock.
Hi, Great review! Is it compatible with HP Pavilion 6 series? Thanks a lot in advance.
Sorry ,HP Pavilion 16 I mean
Yo is the displayport version 1.4?
which laptop was that you tested that with?
Probably a silly question but what is the Ethernet connection for on the dock why would you use this ?
For office work desk physical rj45 network cable more reliable & can be faster than office WiFi.
Can you close the laptop lid and work directly off the external monitor with a keyboard and Bluetooth mouse?
Yes you can, just set the option "when I close the lid on power" to do nothing.
@@hometechUK Great thanks!
hello guys, hopefully you are doing well,
I have bought HP USD - C Dock G5, which comes with 1 USB-C® cable to connect to host system, while my laptop is old somehow and doesn't support the USB Type C, only Type A, for that I got USB Adapter from Type C into Type A, still trying it with no luck,
Please any advise or comment,
thank you in advance
if your laptop doesnt have type c it wont work sorry
Daniel Eyles thank you so much for your reply
Appreciate it
Hey, do I need to connect the docking station to the power or does it also work just with the USB-C cable connected to the laptop?
The docking station does need to be connected to the power bit the laptop does not need the power cord if it's newish as most new laptops can take power from USB C .
Will this work with a Chromebook?
Watched your video and still confused. How do I know it’s powers on. Is it supposed to have a light somewhere? Ughhhhh lol
Yes the small button on the top has a whiteish light when powered on.
Is it wifi or need enternet cable?
There is no WiFi hardware you either incert an ethernet cable or can just use the WiFi from the laptop..
thanks!
Will it work with usb 2.0?
Thank Youuuuu soooooo much for this I could not get my dock to come on and I was getting so frustrated 🙃 Thank Youuuuu Thank-You Thank-You I was like I have all the cords 😡😡😡
I don't know why they even call this thing a dock. A hub, maybe, not a dock.
Does anyone have the power adaper part number?
Serious question, so whats the point of having this? I recently started a new job as a work at Home Fraud department worker and some of the things they gave me were a PC monitor, a chromebook, and then this thing.. What is the purpose of having this? I plugged it into my computer with the USB but its not doing anything.
The point is so you can just plug 1 cable into the laptop to connect all your devices & power. Very handy in an office where you take your laptop home every night. Saves you plugging in a power cord, monitor & keyboard & mouse. Docking stations are for convenience & give you extra ports.
@@hometechUK thank you so much!
I didn’t see a point at first either … but then I did. I no longer have a pc at my desk, just the monitor. I just plug in my laptop and everything I do on the laptop shows on my dual monitors so I can just start working from where I left off on my laptop. At the end of the day, I just close my laptop and when I get home, I plug into this dock again and I’m back working. The cool part is I never use my.laptop charger anymore, I don’t carry around flash drives, and the best part… I don’t waste time transferring files from my home phone to the laptop. So it’s sooooooo much more CONVENIENT! Don’t knock it ‘til you try it!
Does the usb hub work without the power mains cable connected?
Please test if can be used without the power brick connected... I need to know before purchasing
Sérgio Pimenta it obviously won’t
What is the model number for this unit? I want to know the region #ABA?
5TW10UT#ABA
hi ...does it come with the OTG usb c to type A converter?
No it does not come with a type A converter, just the attached USB c cable.
@@hometechUK Thanks
Can you use it with youre phone ?? Like to put youre phone screen on monitor
does this support 144hz?
Yes, up to 165HZ at 1440P, but only on displayport, on HDMI it will only work at up to 144HZ at 1080P.
@@AlexBoneChannel does it work at 1440p 240hz?
They quatrippled the price of this product
Can't even find one for months in UK, I guess the chip shortage has affected production?
@@hometechUK yes also. But more the fact that companies bought 1000 of them at the same time for their employees who work at home due to corona. I worked for a company that did that.
Do we need to have separate power cable for monitors?!
Yes separate power cable to external monitor as the monitor is only connected via display port of hdmi.
What if I want to remove the charger when the battery gets charged till 100% ?
Does the accessories and the network gets disconnected?
(Since I’m using a LAN cable, a mouse and phone charger attached to the USB docking station)
The charging cable stays in the dock, you don't remove otherwise the dock would loose power. The dock charges the laptop via the 1 USB c cable.
@@hometechUK thank you.
So the laptop will be at 100% all the time ? My laptop is getting heated so much when the charger is kept on.😕
I have a HP Elitebook x360 1030 G3... Prior to this I was having a lower version of HP laptop for which the Dock was working fine. But with this Elitebook the power button is not working ...Not sure If I need to install any drivers. Please guide ...Any help is appreciated... Thanks !
Hi Fernando having the same problem here, I was wondering if my docking station was defective. have you solved your issue yet?
Hi guys. I had a similar issue on my x360 and had been fighting with it for some time. You need to push the type c wire from the dock into the laptop properly until you here a click sound and the Dock blinks twice and that's it. Turns out the wire just didn't enter into the laptop properly.
Doesn't show the set up AT ALL lol
There is no start up. Plug in that's it, you don't have to do anything just plug your devices in to the dock then plug into the laptop. That's it.
This video does not help with setup
You just plug in, that's the only setup you need.
Station d'accueil HP: store.hp.com/FranceStore/Merch/Product.aspx?id=D9Y32AA&opt=ABB&sel=ACC
I don't think it's worth that money
Agree should be more like £60 for what it is but for businesses it's great with all the ports &bchannuse the one cable to also charge the laptop.
Heap of junk. I had two go wrong. Wouldn’t bother again.
Horrible video. You don't explain how this works what you need to make it mirror whats from the laptop to the monitor. Cables that are needed. Whether the USB c is a charger for the laptop or gives the hub power. This is very confusing. The majority of this video was just music....disappointing
There is not much to the dock it just works hence why not much chatting. The plug that plugs into the dock gives power to the dock & then the dock USB c from plugged into the laptop does charge the laptop. Then if the external monitor does not automatically mirror the laptop just press Windows key & P to choose your display option.
you don't show how to setup at all... not a good video
There is no setup, just plug in the UBB C cable & that's it, it all just works after a minute once Windows installs some drivers.
Perfect.
I have an older hp omen that does NOT have a usb c port, but does have an hdmi port.
If I connect my laptop to the hub using the hdmi cable will it display to the monitors that are in plugged into the two display ports? I understand that won't feed power to my laptop, I just need the functionality of two monitors
If you don't have a usb c port it would be better to search Amazon for a cheaper USB A hub with 2 hdmi ports, that would work better for you. You should be able to get one for just under £50/ $65
@hometechUK I appreciate your response. Thank you! This hub is actually what I would need for bringing my work laptop home. I guess I wanted to be able to switch between personal and work laptop while being able to utilize the dual monitor for both.
Does it have thunder bolt 3 and also will the cable work with USB 3.1
