Primitive Pottery: Kiln Fired Cooking Pot
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 23 мар 2024
- This adobe brick kiln works well to fire pottery. I recently made this large cooking pot from clay sourced in the pit next to my hut. I also made a flat cooking plate known in Mexico as a 'comal'.
The process for firing this pottery is simple.
1) I place some wood and kindling in the kiln.
2) Then I light it with hot coals collected from the fireplace in my hut.
3) I allow all the wood to burn down.
4) Then I push the coals and ash away from the middle and place two bricks in the center of the kiln.
5) I place the pot upside down on the bricks and lean the lid and the 'comal' against the pot.
6) I stack dry branches of wood all around the pottery.
7) The hot coals will slowly catch fire and soon all the wood will be engulfed in flames.
8) The fire will burn for about 20 minutes.
9) A few hours after the fire burns out the pottery can be removed from the kiln.

This cinematic format was surprisingly very good!
I'm glad you liked it.
Love that you put a spout on this pot now I need to know how to make a strainer. And a tea infuser lol. You continue to amaze me and there seems nothing you can't do or figure out given time.
Maybe you could weave a tiny basket for the tea infuser? And a piece of cloth for strainer
@@user-pq4il4xo9s I wonder if a crocheted material would work
@@user-pq4il4xo9s it sounds funny but I wonder if there was some kind of garbage that could be reperpossed
@@jenreal360that's a lot you can do with garbage.
One of my plans is to collect HDPE plastics. Melt them and form them into a mold and create some type of walls to construct a house out of plastic.
Think of ways that you can reuse garbage and you will surely surprise yourself.
@@blackbway I think that is a great idea I've seen a few new articles on this the material actually makes a sturdy house
Hola Good morning Chad. Enjoying your accompanying music
Good morning to you too
Andy Ward would be proud of you, great job with the firing and a non cracked pot, not an easy task.
Andy Ward is the master!
Thank you, Chad. Your pottery is impressive.
Thank you!
You should make something called a olla for summer heat
I am making Ollas. You will see.
Awsome.ollas are very good for cooling down water
Beautiful pottery episodes are back!!! Wow great
Nice
Qué hermoso horno de barro Saludos para todos bendiciones❤❤
That music made this one intense little video! Love it!
I love the background music
Lovely piece! Enjoyed the “showing” of the story in sequential vignettes. Thanks for such interesting content.
I'm glad you enjoyed it
This is certainly your best work, pottery and videography combined! an amazing effective short with elements of years of your documented work. Big fan since 2020.
Thanks for the love!
Excelente cacerola amigo y la música le dió un aire de misticismo al vídeo🙌💪👏👏👏
Gracias amiga. Ya la he usado varias veces. Funciona muy bien.
Wow Chad, great work! That's really impressive, your pottery skills are really coming together and the choice of accompanying music track was cool too. Great video 👍 tremendous stuff 🥰
Thank you very much!
This pot looks amazing! And that sound, indicating that it is hardened. I would love to play a little bit with clay, but i cannot find any good quality one. Also i tend to forget about things after a while.
Clay is everywere and you can make pottery even with bad clay quality it will be a bit more porous and less durable but still good
yeah, but i forgot (again) to mention that i would need a place for it. Right where i live, i do not have much options. It's pretty cramped space.
Make pottery for your personal use.
I really like your videos, your skills are respectable 👍👌good job
now that looks fun !
Вы учите выживать, спасибо.
Gorgeous piece! Your skills keep improving - very smooth, and it has that clear ring to it. I like the music as well
Thank you very much!

Dear Chad Zuber.
👍👌👏 Very well done again (video and work). Oh WOW, this special pumpkin shaped cooking pot looks simply fantastic. Almost human like = with 2 ears and a mouth while nose/eyes are hidden under a typical french hat/cap (beret). At least my imagination made me think so. 😁 ;-) The pot even sounds great! I really hope that we will see a longer video about the making process (soon).
Thanks a lot for making recording editing uploading and sharing.
Best regards luck and health in particular.
That is quite an imagination. I once made a tea pot that looks like a fish. Very creative piece but I have never even used it.
Chad, you have become so skilled at your pottery! That's an amazing piece!
I'm getting better. My pottery skills are basic. The clay here is surprisingly easy to work with too.
@@ChadZuberAdventures Modesty! I remember watching the first one you made on your channel! I have been meaning to suggest this to you for a long time. You could make say 8 per year to auction off on your channel.
Nice pouring spout!
I love the sparkling that you see on the pots chad makes. Chad please try to make an Indian wedding vase, they are so beautiful.
I could not agree more Ms. Blonde!
That sparkle is the naturally occurring mica in the earth. It really is a beautiful effect.
Good job
You're become really good at making these pots, this one even has a spout
Chad 🏺 siempre haciendo cosas increíbles, un saludo 👋
Saludos!
Very impressive. Cheers, Chad! 👍🏻👍🏻✌️
Thanks
Chad you did a great pottery job 👌👌👏👏
A beautiful pot! I’d love to see some native foods cooked in it! Maybe a meat stew with local herbs?
That's the plan!
A very nice looking batch of new pottery. Thx for doing this, filming it and sharing it with us
You are welcome
Good work. Looks great.
멋진 작품입니다.💯
Your pot looks so symetric and beautiful. I enjoy you videos.🤩
Buenos noches mi hermano. What a soothing way to end the day. Your pottery skills are great! You are a blessing to us all. 🙏😀
I'm glad you enjoyed it
Can you please do a video of a tour of the hut and the items inside? Would be really cool
I will think about that.
Wow. Great looking pot. Can’t wait till you make an awesome pot of frijoles, with onions, bacon, and cilantro.
Thanks. I will skip the beans though. I will only eat them occasionally in small quantities if I'm desperate because they are not really good food for humans. They don't digest well.
It might have been a struggle to turn those shells into quicklime, but the spalling on that clay pot in the thumbnail and the end of your video suggests that the stable version of lime is in your clay already. The firing is probably causing some of it to turn to quicklime, which then causes spalling after reacting with moisture in the air. This further suggests your soil is probably already mildly alkaline.
Great observation. I haven't seen white speckles in my clay though. I haven't seen limestone here.
Impressive!!! Thank you!
Pretty amazing.
That pot looks fantastic tarzan you put a lot of work into making it I'd definitely would get that you're a really talented guy without a doubt :)
Thanks Amauri
@@ChadZuberAdventures you're welcome all that hard work is paying off
Beautiful ❤
It's so great, I also want to create milk items like this myself
Hello im from Indonesian 😊
Hi
very nice cooking pot. nice size too.
Yes, it's a good size for three good meals.
Oh yeah
Different level of life and no modernization I love it peace level is so good 🎉🎉🎉
I love your primitive life videos, and I watch nearly all of them. Very relaxing and educational. I have a question about how you make your pottery food-safe, as I have often gathered, formed and fired clay myself, but a good primitive and self-sufficient glazing method eludes me.
I don't glaze my pottery. If you want to seal your pottery with natural ingredients there are several options to do that. Simply rubbing oil inside and out and then cooking a fatty and starchy meal in it will help seal it. You may have to repeat the process several times.
Nice pot Chad.
Thanks
That amazing Chad.

Super show amei realmente uma linda peça. ❤
Muito obrigado!
nice
Was that made with clay from the site? Because that looks much more "polished" than the earlier stuff made. Thanks for the video. A venison stew or fish chowder would be great in that new cook pot 😊
Yes, this is clay from the same pit that I made all my pottery and bricks. I just polished this one with a smooth stone as it was drying.
Genial este corto. ❤
Gracias!
New style of video format your trying out?! Its very interesting!
Because you made your other cooking pot ages ago, did you do anything to this one that is an upgrade to the old one? With the design or process of making
Thanks for showing this incredible creation ❤❤🎉
I still have my other cooking pots. They have been extensively used and work great. This one is the biggest cooking pot I've made. I'm thinking about making more to sell to help support this channel. I also made a spout for this one so that it is easier to pour out the remaining liquid from soups. I've already cooked several meals on the fire with this pot and it is great!
Love your work bro lots of love from india❤❤
Thank you so much!
Ele é um fenômeno sou fã 👏 😍 🇧🇷
Micaseus clay pot 👍
Your videos are better than ever, Brother Zuber! Where did you source the micaecious clay? Locally or elsewhere?
This clay all comes from the pit next to my hut. Everything was made from that material.
👍

I saw you from Wakatobi Island😊
Wow! Far away. Enjoy the islands!
@@ChadZuberAdventures I hope you can come here🫣
You're getting really good at pottery. Do you think in times past you'd have used pottery as trade goods?
Maybe
@ChadZuber I dare you to make the executioners tea cup, bet you cant😋
I don't even know what that is.
like from Andy Ward guaranteed :)
Hahahahah!
Podrias vender tus hoyas en mercados. Son muy autenticas y genuinas.
Voy a intentar.
@@ChadZuberAdventures There is no better teaching than trying and experimenting.
😎 👍
You look so stylish. I'm also a survival content creator
Awesome! How is your channel doing?
It's too bad that the only low-fire glaze you could probably primitively make is lead oxide - if you substitute in bismuth oxide for health reasons and keep the rest the same it should still work well for you, though. This kind of earthenware will always be porous without some sort of glaze or seal.
I seal my pottery with natural ingredients. There are several ways to do it and it works very well. I have already used this pot for cooking many times.
Hey Chad, i have question ,have you ever tried to make wine from prickly pear, is it possible to make?
I've fermented prickly pear juice to make a kombucha-like drink. I've heard of people making wine from it though. I have made wine from wild grapes and elderberries and it was very good.
Porquê de fazer as coisas tão devagar???
Para parecer mais difícil??
Pelo efeito
awesome...but why the breech cloth? You got pants on, nothing to cover up....
Do you wear underwear? The breech cloth functions as underwear and also protects the buttons in the front when traveling through thick brush where branches can get hung up on the buttons.
damn slowmo makes me feel sick for some reasone. thanks for new expirience
Makes you seasick??
