Honestly, he did better than the rest of Tempus at surviving by being cute & social. His senpais (sans Temma) all killed him by accident. Otherwise, they were all doting on him. Tempus & Temma are the only ones who purposely killed him. Even Utsugi "psychopath" Uyu couldn't find it in him to kill Flay. Bettel said that Flay is their only protection against their senpais because they wouldn't want him to get caught in the crossfire & he was right. As soon as he logged off Rust for the Redmany collab, Tempus got raided

This clip can be kind of a summary of the Stars Rust pecking order. While everyone else fights among themselves or teams up, Izuru wrecks them all especially with his base unless he feels like doing a raid like this, while Temma would wreck anyone and everyone no matter what.
