I was there! All weekend at the sea plane base. Boy what a time 😜😜 those boats are just amazing to see.
Me too I was on the end of the dock at Roostertail we had a transient slip for the weekend and dad had his 42 wellcraft there .
I almost forgot these existed
During the 70s 80s and 90s early to mid 00s those were the days when all of Bell Isle would be packed with fans along the entire length of the river. IT was free to watch the races from Bell Isle and the beach was the best spot to sit. They had warm ups of Friday, races on Saturdays, and Sunday was the big day. Of course you could sit in the stands on the other side of the river but that cost money, and there was no shade in the Water Works park.
God I miss them on the Detroit River.. I went every year since 1970 till it quit here 2 years ago

A perfect match for the grandest , oldest , trophy of man against everything. This river is not nice it makes uwork hard for everything, it's not a tameable beast . The other courses are drag type, long straights, big turns, compared to Detroit
