I have to say, you are brilliant interviewers. You have a good sense of when to ask interesting questions, and when to sit back and let the guest go into detail. So many interviewers interrupt, cutting off a line of thought, I think, prematurely.

20:45 Dave Haynie interview begins. I have to second the comments of others on your great interview technique - the whole thing was a pleasure to listen to!

Always love hearing from Dave :) I also just want to put it out there that I was the first person to email him about the existence of the Vampires, so it's great to hear him be so enthusiastic about them!

I read the title as “The Rise and Fall of Dave Haynie,” but a dude like Dave doesn’t fall. Just gets higher and higher and higher. ;)

59:00 is where Dave starts talking about the Hombre Chipset, if that's what you're here for.

I remember Dave talking to someone at Denver Devcon bemoaning the coming apocalypse ("AAA will never ship"), and I didn't take that as enough of a warning, but now I know for sure -- he really did know by '91 that things were really a lot worse than I had thought at the time. What could have been....

What's the music track at the very end? I can hum it, but I can't remember what it is...
Also, it sounds like an Amiga remake/remix of some original Amiga module from a racing game.

I loved having my souped up A3000 but after the games where did the users go to when they got older? The core OS really did not get anywhere near finished until the OS2 in the A3000, V1 did not even have a file requester, and I tried but I could just not do my serious work on the Amiga. The word processors were all a bit lacking in any serious capability to compose long documents in a manageable way (wish I had known about TEX) and printing on the Amiga was a nightmare, it never worked the same way in each application and so slow. They were great hardware people but the real need was to get serious software on the machine to grow up with the users. Now with a A500 and PiStorm I am a little more forgiving and it helps you can reboot in seconds! Doing an OS and keeping it moving forward on better hardware is a big deal, getting MacOS to on nearly broke Apple, it's hard. Amiga got some nice hardware, the A3000 and Zorro 3, seems from the interview they knew the strengths they had and could see the OS race was over with Windows 3 and would move into games hardware and multimedia.
