    Thank you. As a trumpet player, you just demystified the walking bass line for me!

    Love seeing each one of your videos! Definitely a lot of valuable information. Have you ever thought about doing some videos explaining how some famous charts work? I just love when you talk about what you did in sections of your charts, and when you talked about Time Check. Keep up the great videos!

      Maybe one day! Honestly, I'm worried I'll get in trouble for playing famous charts or even showing bits of their scores.

    Just found your channel, so I'm a little late to the party. I don't play the bass, but it's obviously an essential component of a jazz arrangement and it provides that great feeling of forward hustle. Well done, Elliot! Looking forward to being on time in the future.

    Question: So you shouldn't care if the diatonic/chromatic walk theoretically clashes with horns' "walk"?

    Loved your video, but am just curious why the 2nd beat of bar 2 is a B and not a Bb against the C9 which I took to be dominant? Is it OK in jazz to play a major 7 against a dominant chord?

  • @garymoran9945
    @garymoran9945 2 года назад +1

    Shouldn't C9 have a Bb not B natural?

    that simple huh? i always thought it was much more convoluted

    • @PandemoniumBigBand
      @PandemoniumBigBand  2 года назад +1

      Surprisingly simple. It takes a bit of harmonic knowledge to do it correctly though… chord/scale relationships.

    • @itsgoubie
      @itsgoubie 2 года назад

      @@PandemoniumBigBand that part is fun, figuring out what goes where. I lack the knowledge to do that confidently, but I'll get there eventually

    A bass should walk rather than run. It's much more relaxing.
