This research focuses on the deployable structures with straight bars, from the parametric design to the construction of a human-scale prototype. This research explores several design solutions at different stages of the construction process. Deployable structures with straight bars occupy the minimum possible space in the area in which they are being installed. For this reason, these structures are more appealing architectural implementation. The Vertex II wants to be a pilot proposal for applications in emergency architecture. The prototype was be manufactured and built in the model laboratory of the School of Architecture, Design and Built Environment of Nottingham Trent University, as part of a workshop on deployable structures conducted by the SMiA research group. The assembly process is of two phases. The first the deployment of each arch. Then create an equilateral triangle with the arcs and join them. This will block the movement of the system. And the second phase the installation of the textile cover. For the construction process, digital manufacturing methods such as laser cutting and 3d printing were used.
