@@MBTYuGiOhEver consider doing a progression series in the Rush duel format using non Rush cards? It'd be broken af but at least DM wouldn't be boring anymore.
@@yoyo6314it’s an idea that I’ve had as well. But honestly doing it as a progression series with sealed decks would probably end up being more boring. By the synchro era things like Brionac if it was pre erratum would also be ridiculous. Even post erratum where it can only bounce opponent’s cards. Draw five the easiest way ever every turn guaranteed. Also a lot of other issues potentially come up without a custom banlist. There’s a reason why cards are in their own built in limited 1 pool.
Just a heads-up: Genex Undine was not mainly used in Frog Monarchs to dump Treeborn Frog as Swap Frog already fulfilled that niche. It was used to dump Fishborg Blaster in order to access the synchro toolbox: mainly Formula Synchron with Treeborn Frog, and Stardust/Shooting Star Dragon with the Formula Synchron and a level 6 Monarch. Swap Frog can only send Aqua monsters like Treeborn to the GY but as Fishborg is a Fish, it was not a valid target (although some players would cheat and do it anyway). Because of this, Genex Undine was the second-best way to dump Fishborg to the GY behind Foolish Burial.
@@ashblossomandjoyoussprung.9917 Their main shtick in the lore is that they uhh... Conserve Nature. I think? My sources originated from that video explaining the lore with only images and texts.
I really hope one day you get invited to be on Pathetic Aesthetic. It is THE perfect collaboration, because I know you would have something to say about these card designs.
@@EinDose You are insane for that. The very idea of reviewing the art of every HERO card is masochistic. That is like reviewing every Blackwing card. There are way too god damn many.
I actually went through a phase of making goofy Genex Ally Triforce focused chaos-y monarch-y decks and I had a lot of fun with it at locals. Birdman and Dimensional Alchemist were really fun to pair together, and the light + 3 star tuner makes a Triforce that can resurrect any light in the grave for free face-down, so you could throw Rykos on to the board. Birdman and either Caius or Chaos Sorcerer also matched up to make Locomotion R-Genex, which basically nobody ever thought about and so frequently caught opponents by surprise by way of non-targeting monster theft. Really fun little deck.
Birdman also saw play in worms! You could use it to return Yagan to hand after it was summoned from grave, letting you set it and special summon it from grave again. You could also use it to make Genex Ally Triforce, which was an all-star for the deck because it let you special summon from grave… face-down.
Its worth noting that a major reason birdman was good in geargia synchro specifically is because geargiaccelerator can special summon itself from the hand with no once-per turn, so birdman was able to beam itself out for free and kickstart the karakuri engine resulting in multiple extra draws and an otk particularly if you could flip a trap stun.
I love how you wrote the text of the cards you showed; the way the important words are highlighted makes the card so much easier to read. It looks super high quality.
Genex Undine was used in crystron lists when it was meta in duel links. I loved that meta because they played as mako and in case you didn't know his theme in DL is an absolute banger.
I love the response video like this from you. I doesn't look effortless like reaction and you took the time to analyse the topic and reponse with your take. Wish a lot more people do video like this.
Years ago, during the stone age, I built a Uria thing with Genex Ally Solid in it, because flipping DNA Transplant and calling WATER so it can tribute itself to draw 2 was some powerful jank, the DNA Transplant then got burned for either Magic Planter or actually using Uria's summoning condition.
So this is a response video to a response video, entirely about Yu Gi Oh, a game that I don't play? Oh, this is absolutely perfect- and I'm going to watch this multiple times.
I remember playing birdman in Darkworld around the time the structure came out. Personally i thought it to be a great way to open the syncro pool but also proc your discard effects again (even though grapha gave that anyway)
Now to add an "ERM ACKSHUALLY" of my own: Genex controller & undine also saw a lot of play in duel links' crystron decklists, which were competitive for a time. They weren't the best options, but the best options were limited out of the crystron deck by konami, so these were the next best thing... so much so genex controller was also limited by konami for awhile because they got tired of crystrons continuing to be meta relevant even after all the limits.
@@yoel9396 tbf, it's more because of how duel links' banlist operates. Instead of being able to put 2 copies of every limited 2 card in your deck, you're only allowed 2 "limited 2" slots in your deck maximum. Duel links will often use this to hinder archetypes by slapping, say, a limit 3 on an archetypal boss monster AND you're main consistency tool that you kind of have to run. Which forces you to play, say, 2 of the consistency card and 1 of the boss. Same goes for generic staples like ice dragon's prison or compulsory evacuation device - both are limited to 3 so that your 20 card deck can't just be a bunch of game winning staples. You only get 3 of those in total. Crystron already had like three limited 2 cards at the time (a removal trap & two of the tuners iirc), meaning they could only play 1 copy of the two tuners and no trap - so by putting controller to 2 as well, it basically prevented them from playing controller at all, and without controller there's no point in using undine as a WATER bridge to an extra tuner. Thus, it finally killed the deck (competitively, people still tried doing a weird deep sea diva-merlantean-crystron thing but it was too inconsistent to be competitive).
You could also play an ultimate offering deck with the r-genex's, gadgets, and sometimes machinas. I know offering was briefly at 2 around the time of release so this might have seen some play? Though I can't see it toping it was this ultimate offering strategy that was the dirrect inspiration for their new link
4:42 erm acktually... it was a really shitty, Foolish Burial for Fishborg Blaster since there was no other efficent way to dump it from the deck (other than foolish burial itself)
Can’t believe you completely neglected to mention Genex Ally Birdman being a Trap Monsters staple before Master Rule 5, because it allowed you to clear out a clogged backrow slot.

It feels so weird to be like a sub-pedant, but Genex Undine was excellent in Duel Links - not only in Mermails and Fish, as you might expect, but a staple in Crystrons as the best starter that wasn't Scrap Recycler (especially as things started to get banned out of it and cards like Psychic Wheeleder and Citadel Whale became more standard). Iirc there's a 30 card water pile that technically counted as a Mako Legendary Deck that was on the worlds winning lineup.
