Sobolov had a cold regality to his voice that made Shockwave a real presence. Welker's was cool too, but so underused it's hard to tell. Burton is the classic, but Sobolov perfected it.
Mr.Burton really did not tried to sound cold and calculating like Me.Sobolov did. If you want to know how he sounds like ıf he tried, look at Tfa Megatron.
Corey Burton's voice for Shockwave in Animated was a great improvement from G1. But Steve Blum and David Sobolov did excellent cold and calculative voices too. I can't decide. Either way, Brian Drummond was perfect for Shockblast's hyperactive, destructive nature.
If you want a cold and calculating voice for Mr.Burton, than ı suggest you to check his Megatron performance. He is sounds calculating, cold and sinister. Yet charismatic.
David Solobov makes Shockwave sound cold, evil and badass. His version of Shockwave sounds sexy. And theres always am ominous background tune playing when Shockwave speaks.
The Meow I haft to agree Steve Blum voicing shockwave makes him sound badass and sexy too though😄😄😄😄😎😎😎😎😊👍🏻!!! Kinda weird we’re calling a robot’s voice sexy though 😂
The Meow I think Corey Burton is the original Shockwave, but Prime Shockwave is my favorite version and voice of the character, animated is also amazing, with his voice sounding desperate at all times despite his cold calculating nature. “What is your command megatron?”
1 Corey burton: he will always be shockwave 2 David sobolov: yes that's my only reason 3 Steve blum: better as starscream 4 Frank welker: he was completely wasted
Frank Welker had a really cool Shockwave voice, it was creepy as hell. It's a shame he got almost no screen time and only had like 2 lines in the whole movie.
David Sobolov is my favorite Shockwave. His performance in Prime was great. But I was interested to see Shockblast's appearance here. Very cool how he was included.
David Sobolov is easily the best voice for Shockwave and my personal favorite. With Frank Welker's demonic sounding Shockwave voice being my second favorite since it goes along with the badass demonic design the Bayverse Shockwave had.
Sobolov's threatening and subtle persona is probably my favorite. Probably my second favorite is the subdued tone of Steve's performance. Corey's a good choice too, and when the dialogue is written with him in mind, it seems to commonly have a theme of being most loyal to Megatron.
I used to like David Sobolov the best but I changed my mind and now think Corey Burton is the best. Chances are I will change my opinion again but I'm pretty sure Corey and David are going to stay at the top.
David Sobolov used to be my favourite, because I didnt think Corey's sounded very scary, until I watched Animated. Corey's voice in Animated always gives me chills, it's so intimidating and perfect for the character. I still do love David's, though.
If you were to ask me this years ago, I would have said "Corey Burton" However, I've since realized it really depends on what your doing with Shockwave. If your going the original cartoon route, a loyal Megatron follower, then Corey Burton, no contest. However, even though I was resentful of David Sobolov's voice at first, I realized it's perfect for a Shockwave that follows Logic. It's pretty much my head canon voice for original Marvel Comics Shockwave. PS, Steve Blum, I love your Starscream voice, but I really don't see you as Shockwave
The shockwave that Drummond portrays isn't really shockwave to me. It sounds more akin to Starscream instead. Which begs the question. Could Drummond be a decent Starscream?
The Thug Yeah I believe it had something to do with trademark/coyright to where they couldn't use the name Shockwave. So they changed the name and changed the personality as well.
Actually makes me wish that we got to see David Warner voice Shockwave at one point in time. I imagine that his take would probably sound similar to his voice as Ra’s Al Ghul.
David takes the cake for me followed by Corey. David’s isn’t pomp and flair like Corey’s but more sinister and dark and conniving like I picture Shockwave to truly be
Frank Welker's voice was the most innovative and convincing. There was so much depth and persona to his powerful interpretation of Shockwave's presence. This cinematic event by the genius Michael Bay leaves me breathless during the Shockwave scenes. I cut myself in honor of Frank Welker, and pretend that he talks to me when I pull down my diapers as he works his magic.
As much as I love Burton's Shockwave, Sobolov's is now the one I default to when I think of Shockwave. It perfectly encapsulates that cold, emotionless, purely logic-centered menace that Shockwave is about (in the cartoons, anyway). You can tell this guy would absolutely kill you, but not out of revenge or anger like a lot of 'Cons, and that makes him scarier.
While Sobolov's delivery is indeed dark and intimidating, Burton's performance carries a more subtle quality of Decepticon terror; a chilling detachment from any entity that isn't logic or loyalty to the Decepticon cause. He bears an unfeeling coldness that requires no intensity of presence in order to frighten his enemies into submission. In short, Corey Burton is the most... logical voice for Shockwave.
No offense but the desc. You said here seems more fit for sobolov. G1 shockwave sounded sort of plain and kinda average and same goes for animated but even then the voice for some reason just seem cools to me
As a Steve Blum fan, my main gripe with his Shockwave voice is that he adds smugness and a bit of charisma to an character whose defining trait is his emotionlessness. And just like everyone else, I also believe the best voices here are Burton and Sobolov.
Corey Burton, cold and logical. Steven Blum... Cold, logical and calculating. David Sobolov, wonderful. Cold, calculating, relentless, smart and... Logical.
I love Steve Blum and David Sobolov as Shockwave. Those guys just made Shockwave sound so freaking awesome and it really fits the character!! Corey Burton is great too! :D
While I love the classic G1 voice cast I've got to go with David Sobolov I think he captures the menace Shockwave has been portrayed with in recent years best sorry Corry Burton
Yeah, the problem is that Shockwave in the cartoon was pratically sketchy. The makers of the cartoon did not read anything about Shockwave's biography and just portrayed him as a loyal Megatron's minion not even that strong or menacing. The exact contrary of the way Shockwave was coinceved and later portrayed in any other media: a cold and emotionless scientist obsessed with logic.
@@pikppa wdym not that strong? In all his fights he did relatively well other than when Ultra Magnus took him down a peg. Also Shockwave is supposed to be a loyal minion to Megatron, unless your following the comic book version where he only serves logic. Clearly prime followed the version that portrays him as a loyal follower.
Even though it was only a couple of seconds of dialogue from Shockwave in Bumble Bee, Corey Burton gave a badass dialogue in his short presence. "DESTROY THE LAUNCHPAD! LET NONE ESCAPE!"
David Sobolov for me, all the other Shockwaves were decent (mostly), but his Shockwave has that evil scientist vibe to it. I mean I got chills when he went: Why was I left for scrap? Abandoned. WHY? Honestly he was more intimidating than Megatron... and that is a feat.
Corey Burton, no contest. Shockwave is regal, stately, cold, and clinical. He's the robotic Peter Cushing on his own personal Death Star, Cybertron. The most respectable and honorable of the Decepticons. He needs to sound like it. Plus it makes his threats more badass. "DESTRUCTION TO ALL TRESPASSERS!!!"
Transformer videos are back, it was only logical, and of course, he is one of my favorite Transformers. For more Transformers videos, follow the links below Comparing The Voices - Optimus Prime Comparing The Voices - Megatron Comparing The Voices - Galvatron Comparing The Voices - Starscream
Fun Fact: In the form of the people who have voiced Shockwave, we have three Megatrons, two Mister Sinisters, one Vegeta, one Drax The Destroyer, two Venoms, one Carnage, one Kingpin, one Starscream, one Martian Manhunter, two Wolverines, one Red Tornado, one Commissioner Gordon, one Count Dooku, one Cad Bane, one Brainiac and three Darkseids.
My two favourites are Steve Blum and David Sobolov . Steve Blum Shockwave : His Shockwave sounds as I always thought the character should sound like : evil, emotionless, cold, calculating, sinister . David Sobolov : I think his Shockwave wouldn't really fit the Mad Decepticon Scientist theme, but rather the cold-hearted, calculating, psychopathic murder machine Shockwave which the Bay Films tried to introduce, even though it did not suceeded in the film I think it would've suceeded the Rising Storm movie comic ( if it was an actual movie, check it out Shockwave in that comic is a monster )
I love David Sobolov's voice, like A LOT. But I feel like Corey Burton is getting shafted here. His voice from G1 was...interesting, but with Animated he really stepped up his game. For me, Burton and Sobolov both share top-spot.
Actually, in a few continuities he's not very loyal at all, and sees himself as the superior leader of the Decepticons. I don't like it when he's like that, though.
Heh it depends. As long as Megatron make wise decisions and remain strong, Shockwave will follow him. But the moment Shockwave perceive Megatron, for any reason, has become unfit to rule then he will overthrow him, not because he is power-hungry like Starscream but because he would see himself as the logical choice
My is Steve Blum, because the Cybertron games are my favorite games of all time, and the Shockwave in them shows emotion such as curiosity and pride. He also created the dinobots, and opened the space bridge. And it was just something about his voice, he was my second favorite sounding character, only beaten by Kickback.
Corey Burton was busy in the G1 series. He voiced Shockwave, Spike, and Brawn in Seasons 1 and 2. He had his hands full in The Ultimate Doom Parts Two and Three, with the scene in which Sparkplug was freed from Decepticon control. Shockwave, Brawn and Spike were all in the same scene together.
i literally laughed when barry gjerde came up voicing shockwave, if u listen to what hes saying it obviously seems like hes in a fight, but he seems so calm and chill about it 😂😂
Blum is in everything. Besides TF, he was also Amon in the Legend of Korra and is currently the Lasat known as Zeb in Star Wars: Rebels. That grinding undertone in his voice makes him suit many roles.
Happy Birthday Frank Welker. I Love all Transformers movies, Mulan, Family Guy, Robot Chicken, The Simpsons The Little Mermaid and The Adventure Of Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius. top 3 voices for shockwave 1.david solobov 2.steve Blum 3.corey burton shockwave’s actually one of my favourite transformers cause he’s quite unique and badass😄😄😄😄😎😎😎😎😊👍🏻!!!
Laserbeak316 In the IDW comics he wasnt always the one eyed emotionless scientist we now know. He was once a handsome mech that had an actual face and different body. He was an outgoing guy and was best friends with Orion Pax(who os now Optimus) He likes to make himself look good in his appearance by always changing the color of his paintjob. He is always complementing other bots looks too. "Senator Shockwave" was a happy go lucky bot and once said, "I want the people to remember my smarts and also my beauty".
Becky J Ah, Senator Shockwave. The only member of the Cybertronian Senate who wasn't a total corrupt dick and actually wanted to help other people. It's a shame they punished him simply for doing what was ultimately the right thing for their society, and turned him into the cold logical Decepticon we know today. "Remember me as I was." -Senator Shockwave's last words. T_T
What makes it even more feelsy was at the end of Dark Cybertron, when Optimus gave his last words to Shockwave before having to kill him in order to destroy the Chronal drive: "On behalf of everyone you helped-every Outlier you tutored-every function runt you took under your wing-every naive young law enforcer whose eyes you opened-and every miner you made sure was safe-Senator Shockwave, I promise you-I will remember you as you were." :'{ T_T DX
It's hard to compare them, as all try to do a significantly different take on Shockwave, in Tf Prime he's a badass physically and has a very deep voice that rivals Megatrons, while in Animated he's scary because of his high intelligence and how thin his body looks, Tf Foc is basically a little bit of both.
When reading comics I mash David and Corey's voice for shockwave together In such a way where it is monotone and cold like David Yet has the weird wheezy admiral like feel of Corey When I mesh these together and read dark cybertron How boy, I got chills just thinking about it
Logically and obviously, I enjoy the many voices of Shockwave, the Decepticon scientist, perfectly executed by Corey Burton, Steve Blum, David Sobolov and Frank Welker
David Sobolov just edges it for me. He's cold, calculating and sinister for the voice of Shockwave. Corey Burton will still be the original.
Agreed
I like mixing them when I read the comics
Static voice like old sound wave
But with that odd way of saying things of his first va
his voice was the most.... logical of the bunch
His voice is magnificent way better than the original
Agreed. Coolest one.
Sobolov had a cold regality to his voice that made Shockwave a real presence.
Welker's was cool too, but so underused it's hard to tell.
Burton is the classic, but Sobolov perfected it.
NightBot Ban Welker's Shockwave could've used so many more lines of dialogue instead of being as silent as TFP Soundwave
He was in season 3 don't worry
Mr.Burton really did not tried to sound cold and calculating like Me.Sobolov did. If you want to know how he sounds like ıf he tried, look at Tfa Megatron.
Corey Burton's voice for Shockwave in Animated was a great improvement from G1.
But Steve Blum and David Sobolov did excellent cold and calculative voices too.
I can't decide.
Either way, Brian Drummond was perfect for Shockblast's hyperactive, destructive nature.
Your decision is logical.
Illogical. Corey burton's is the best.
I agree. Those 3 voiced Shockwave well in their respective shows
If you want a cold and calculating voice for Mr.Burton, than ı suggest you to check his Megatron performance. He is sounds calculating, cold and sinister. Yet charismatic.
David Solobov makes Shockwave sound cold, evil and badass. His version of Shockwave sounds sexy. And theres always am ominous background tune playing when Shockwave speaks.

1 Corey burton: he will always be shockwave
2 David sobolov: yes that's my only reason
3 Steve blum: better as starscream
4 Frank welker: he was completely wasted

Your choices are.... logical
Frank welker the best
@@matiasmansilla2319 the best megatron and soundwave*
Frank Welker will voice Megatron and Soundwave, Corey Burton will voice Shockwave, and Steve Blum will voice Starscream.
Gotta say, it's a lot of fun doing the G1 Shockwave voice.
TFanPage101 LOL Ikr???
I mean it's easier than doing David's shockwave. You gotta deepen your voice almost like Darth Vader and sound all technical.
G1 and TFA Shockwave impressions are fun :)
Logically
Saying "Lord Megatron!" followed by the dumbest shit I can think of always makes me smile
Frank Welker had a really cool Shockwave voice, it was creepy as hell. It's a shame he got almost no screen time and only had like 2 lines in the whole movie.
I just noticed -
Steve Blum voiced Shockwave in War For Cybertron and also Starscream in TFP...
He also voices Reptile and Sub Zero in Mortal Kombat X.
He also voices Zeb from Star Wars rebels
he voiced Killer Croc, Crash Bandicoot (Crash Nitro Kart), Barricade in War in Cybertron....

David Sobolov. He took "mad scientist" to the max. Although Steve Blum wasn't too shabby.
Corey Burton, without a doubt.
David Sobolov is easily the best voice for Shockwave and my personal favorite.
With Frank Welker's demonic sounding Shockwave voice being my second favorite since it goes along with the badass demonic design the Bayverse Shockwave had.

He actually sounds like Nolan North to me.
Personally, I think he sounds psychotic enough to play an excellent Whirl. He doesn't fit for Shockwave, but he would be perfect for Whirl.
The David Warner-like voice Corey Burton did will always be my favorite.
Actually makes me wish that we got to see David Warner voice Shockwave at one point in time. I imagine that his take would probably sound similar to his voice as Ra’s Al Ghul.

David Sobolov
He sounds so cold and evil
Ikr
brooooo steve blum does soo many voices
Over 100 voices
Especially for Transformers! In the Cybertron games, he voices Barricade, Shockwave, the Narrator, Swindle, and Sharpshot, that’s 5 characters total!
Corey Burton is the only Shockwave to me. The accent.
In short, Corey Burton is the most... logical voice for Shockwave.
its only logical
Not to mention that his Animated portrayal was a great improvement from G1.
This defies all logic.
CatMaster90001 hahaha logical...

It was only a month ago that I learned G1/TFA Shockwave and Clone Wars Count Dooku were both voiced by Burton
I never realized that was Frank Welker who did transformers three version. And I love that theme seriously
Where did you get the voice for Shockwave from the 2007 Transformers game?
Grew up watching the original, so I'm partial to Burton. He has just the right amount of coldness on top of subdued intensity.
Steve Blum is perfect for Shockwave's character as a logical, but mad, scientist.
Blum is in everything. Besides TF, he was also Amon in the Legend of Korra and is currently the Lasat known as Zeb in Star Wars: Rebels. That grinding undertone in his voice makes him suit many roles.
G1 or Transformers Prime, both of those are fantastic
David Sobolov makes Shockwave sound so Dark and Powerful, he is the best Shockwave
Corey Burton's Voice for Shockwave G1 is the true voice, and they got it right in the Cybertron War scene in Bumblebee.
I wish shockwave returned in age of the extinction and had more lines than he did in dark of the moon
Design: dark of the moon

Steve Blum!? as Shockwave! WOW!

Laserbeak316 the feels dude T_T
What makes it even more feelsy was at the end of Dark Cybertron, when Optimus gave his last words to Shockwave before having to kill him in order to destroy the Chronal drive:
"On behalf of everyone you helped-every Outlier you tutored-every function runt you took under your wing-every naive young law enforcer whose eyes you opened-and every miner you made sure was safe-Senator Shockwave, I promise you-I will remember you as you were."
:'{ T_T DX
In War for Cybertron, they only used quotes and exclamations from Skywarp (Richard Epcar) for Shockwave.
I wish shockwave spoke more in the movies
It's hard to compare them, as all try to do a significantly different take on Shockwave, in Tf Prime he's a badass physically and has a very deep voice that rivals Megatrons, while in Animated he's scary because of his high intelligence and how thin his body looks, Tf Foc is basically a little bit of both.
Didn’t know Count Dooku used to serve Megatron and the Decepticon army
That last one had so much depth and content to it.
Shockwave from fall of Cybertron has always been my favorite
There’s something about the voice Corey Burton does for Shockwave in G1 that makes it the best for me.
What music did you use for the intro?
When reading comics I mash David and Corey's voice for shockwave together
In such a way where it is monotone and cold like David
Yet has the weird wheezy admiral like feel of Corey
When I mesh these together and read dark cybertron
How boy, I got chills just thinking about it
Steve Blum is the best starscream imo, but makes a decent shockwave too.
David Sobolov he is a voice actor who played as Lt Vasquez from Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare and Remastered
Logically and obviously, I enjoy the many voices of Shockwave, the Decepticon scientist, perfectly executed by Corey Burton, Steve Blum, David Sobolov and Frank Welker
1:29 I don’t remember Shockwave having any lines in the Wii version of the game, was it in another version?
PS3 and Xbox... as well as PC.
THE TRANSFORMERS ENERGON ONE MADE ME LAUGH SO HARD
1. Corey Burton

3. Steve Blum
