Dude *sees rock* “Now this is one of my favorite wild edible plants!” “Though were only going to eat the tips because there the most tender” *Cooks rock into a beautiful tiramisu*
I was playing a zombie game where it's an open sandbox survival and i actually thought... WTF... this could happen. Literally made me look into foragebles in my area. It's really fun to be able to identify edible plants when hiking.
Dandelion leaves are really good in dumplings, my family is chinese, and we forage them all the time during spring and fall here in Ottawa, Canada. The bitterness is on point when you prepare properly
Yeah, and how many birds have crapped on the fields of plants that make it into the grocery store. This is why we wash our plants before we eat them (also to wash away man-made chemicals).
When I was a kid I would look at plants and say “That one looks yummy” and would “feed” the worms in my garden because my strawberries were dying and I thought it would make compost. I ate grass too because of Roger Federer
Not gonna lie, I feel like I've always wanted to do something like this, but had no idea where to start. I am totally trying this and living my best hippe lifestyle!!
As a kid, I used to eat random plants not knowing if they were poisonous or not. It's nice to know that I wasn't killing myself because I used to eat most of those weeds. Especially, the lemon ones.
I would not suggest a book, a video or anything else! It might be even dangerous to your health if you don't know what you're doing, even with the help of a book - it's easy to mismatch one plant with another, same goes for mushrooms - those are very tricky. I'd suggest finding someone, who's into that thing for a long time and has a lot of experience - go with them :)
Start with one plant at a time and become super familiar with it! Also always know any dangerous lookalikes beforehand. I’d suggest starting with dandelion or something that’s pretty safe. There’s lots of videos on here to get you started and then just go out to your backyard or park and start looking! 🙏🏼💗
Was just telling my mom the other day that if we ever wanted to try the dandelions and clover in her back yard were perfect for eating as we don't use pesticides or have an animal using them
Garlic mustard is unbelievably delicious, but it has A LOT of fiber in it, so it’s generally something you should eat no more than three times a week unless you want your intestines to shut tight like a flood gate.
I have memories of eating Field Garlic on school field days. I didn't wash them, and the school sprayed the grounds with pesticides, so in retrospective eating them probably wasn't a good idea, but they actually tasted pretty good. Seeing them mentioned in this video really brings back memories.
Hes good👍....but if you want more in depth study, GREEN DEAN . What I like about this channel is this guy also cooks his weeds with regular food. Delicious stuff.👍
my family grows a lot of wild greens in our garden and the way my mom prepares it for dinner is by sauteing it with some salt, olive oil, garlic, and onion, and then adding chicken broth to make a delicious vegetable soup. I suggest you guys try it sometime.

Maybe talk about the issue with thiamine depletion with wild edibles? I'm 100% behind eating wild greens they're far more nutrient dense than store-bought. But eating just that can deplete thiamine in your body which leads to kidney failure
Interesting and enjoyable, thank you. I'd like to learn about and eat a new vegetable every so often. The common violet is my most favorite here, its leaves look delicious.
at 6:23, "A word of caution", I thought he was going to mention the fact that harvesting plants found on a public walkway at the base of structures sticking up out of the ground is most likely to be saturated with dog urine :o
I learned you don't harvest plants at the bottom of poles, posts or hydrants because stray animals and some pets have a tendency to pee in those spots more often than not
I have to agree with that one....though I love the idea everywhere else...Even I can't eat my dandelions now cuz I've been walking my dog in the back yard :(
