I would not suggest a book, a video or anything else! It might be even dangerous to your health if you don't know what you're doing, even with the help of a book - it's easy to mismatch one plant with another, same goes for mushrooms - those are very tricky. I'd suggest finding someone, who's into that thing for a long time and has a lot of experience - go with them :)

at 6:23, "A word of caution", I thought he was going to mention the fact that harvesting plants found on a public walkway at the base of structures sticking up out of the ground is most likely to be saturated with dog urine :o

Fascinating information, Dr. Schindler ! Is there any reference book that covers edible North American (especially Toronto latitude,) wild plants?

I learned you don't harvest plants at the bottom of poles, posts or hydrants because stray animals and some pets have a tendency to pee in those spots more often than not

I can only imagine the reaction of people after seeing a man with a camera, a large wooden stick, and bags just stopping at random places, picking up weeds, and just straight up eating them 😭

6:04 we eat that in our junior high school. we just chew the stem for the acidity then spit it out
and medicago is also a very popular wild plant for us to eat

Careful when scavenging: in some countr like Germany, certain plants are protected. The common (wild) violet is one of them.

Thats why I prefer a more wild garden, than just a boring dead lawn, you get random cool plants like wild strawberries and whats not + you get some cool animals living there or stop for a visit
