One of the greatest memories in my life.. i was 19 and had the pleasure to witness the opening night in Verona of this amazing ballet!

Thanks. I was present at the performance...it was great.... at the end Lorca Massine the choreographer jumped on the stage and danced with Janice and Vassiliev the last sirtaki.... unforgettable...

@pediatrapaola Lol! Yes, Volodia is Volodia and it's a great display, but this isn't the syrtaki I see on holiday every year in Greece, and danced best by Greek waiters after a few ouzos! :-)

@devucka nureyev ,senza nulla togliere al suo indubbio valore ,ha avuto l'enorme pubblicita'derivante da una clamorosa defezione in piena guerra fredda,sicuramente non e' mai stato il migliore.se fossero fuggiti vasiliev od yuri soloviev sarebbe stato lo stesso,anzi,non lo vedevano nemmeno tecnicamente.e su questo rudy ha l'attenuante di essere partito tardi con lo studio serio,quando arrivo' a leningrado aveva gia' 16 anni ,quindi fece miracoli,ma nnei limiti del possibile.
this is not about the dance but about the music, how else is the rest of the world (that matters at least) going to realise the wealth of culture and music the greek race produces. If a composer cannot produce symphonies and ballets in this age they will remain anonymous. Now ask any cold blooded western european/angle about greek composers, and they will instantly be able to name Theodorakis, Hadjidakis and Plessas et al, as they were able to market greek music to the rest of the western world

I accord that is a wonderful ballet and also a homenade...but really,
the Best greek dance has nothing with ballet....
The Music of Theodorakis compairs with tradicional greek dance!
As japanese tradicional and folkloric dances and others tradicional dances around the world.
( and I am not greek..than I have no preconceit - I am japanese-brazilian married with greek).

@georgethedancer Who cares about numbers? One dancer truly showing his emotion, his heart, his feelings in his dance is more worth than your millions of wasted money, hordes of actors and lifeless uniformed ballet choreographies .
Art is not valued by quantity but by quality, impression and inspiration. If you love masses and and big things, please watch videos of the Reichsparteitag in Nürnberg 1934. You'll be satisfied.

@MrPanosdal OYTE ειναι σε στυλ μουζακα και τζατζικι. Αυτο για μενα ειναι η πιο καλη εκτελεση για χορο. Ελληνας ειναι αλλα Ελληναρας οχι. Ελληναρας σημαινει κατι φτηνο. Οσο για το κορμακι τους παραπεμπεις σε κατι σεξιστικο. Πολυ ενοχλητικη αποψη.
