Great video! I think this shows that no matter how close the actual exhaust note gets, even when many of your real life examples are using aftermarket systems, the dynamics of the cars flywheel and shift mechanics are equally as important. The 812 and 488 for example are super fast revving at idle and have a distinct almost tardy seamless gearbox, totally lost in game.
superficially we can say it sounds good yes, but im so surprised to see in 24 we're still that far away. i don't understand why they don't do more postprocessing to the sounds to fix some of the obvious differences
I have more fun with this than forza horizon 5 and the crew, sound is amazing and physic is good for arcade game, with tune setting u can dress your car as u want
I wanna buy Solar Crown just because of the Koenigssegg, one of my favourite brands and Ive never heard their cars so well represneted in any game. When the games on sale and maybe has less issues, Ill probably pick it up
Quite a few are really good, generally good samples but bad RPM matching on some. Especially one I can recall is the Alfa 4C where it sounds like it only revs to 4500rpm
AMG GTR sound is disappointing, hopefully they can get the sound more accurate in an update or something, especially the pops, bangs and rumbles. Also the rumble of the M4 after start up you can barely hear it in the game. Just generally the German high performance cars always never had accurate sounds imo, deserve some justice tbh, but they did a really good job on the rest of the sounds. Excellent video nonetheless, great way to see how close they were, perhaps even use it for reference!
Those Ferrari shifter clicking sounds are annoying and loud. 488 Pista and Veyron are too quiet, like a bug. Some cars have accurate sounds, some don't.
the sound from Audi R8 V10 sounds similar to the sound from Audi R8 V10 Engine Simulator so I was wondering, does TDUSC use Engine Simulator to make all the cars sound
Wow much better than Forza Horizon and GT7. The only racing game with good sounds is assetto corsa competizione and raceroom. Now Test Drive is in the top 3. Quietly impressed!
They defo forgotten about Veyron strater motor sound and did it last minute before the launch that was disastrous anyway lol other than that its fantastic, some cars need polishing tho ... shame you didn't include Vulcan but cool vid bdw
The person driving the cars in game keeps braking instead of just letting off the throttle so the exhaust notes sound weird off of the pedal and very inaccurate when decelerating
Car sounds are better than most triple A car games , but tdusc still needs to work on the exhaust sounds . It’s like the exhaust sounds are non existent on most cars
As it always has, TDU have got the car sounds absolutely spot on in this game. It was one of the things I was looking forward to the most in this game, but the rest of the game is SO badly behind on where it should be in a 2024 game, its really let the above down big time. Graphics feel like a game more like 2014 than 2024, and the optimisation is one of the worst i've seen in a game.
Most are better, some are worse. I would have liked that the sound engineer would focus a bit more on backfire. F40 sounded ok, but on decelation, the backfires were missing completely. This ges for a lot of cars in this game, and most of the games. Most engines sound good. Overall my expectations were exceeded in Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown.
assetto corsa is the king of car sounds. their sound design is RPM and shift dependent. For example, certain sounds are only heard during shifts, like in real life. In almost all video games, including this one, the car sounds are just 1 sound. shifts are simply interruptions of the sound of the car, sounding very soft and uneventful as a result. The 4C in this video utilizes what assetto uses for all of its cars during shifts.
Honestly if the 3D artists and sound engineers at Ivory Tower got teamed up with the CarX Technologies team for the physics, they'd have a game worth $70. But as Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown and CarX Street both stand, I'd pay $30 for both of them (and yes, I'm aware that CarX is $19.99, but the driving physics absolutely humiliate TDU:SC, just as TDU:SC's models and sounds are on a different level than CarX).
Not bad, though obviously the game's engine sounds aren't nearly as raw and raspy as if you'd be listening to them irl. I'll give it an 8/10 for really trying hard to get it right
This game sounds 100x better than forza horizon 5 my problem with fh5 was always that every engine sounded the same in there own categories or sounded way off to irl this game really tries to recreate the sounds of the real thing and i love that
