  • Very close to Olsztyn, the capital of the Warmia and Masuria region, one of the most popular summer destinations for Poles due to the large number of lakes of all sizes, lies the small town of Olsztynek. In it, we find the Museum of Folk Architecture and Ethnographic Park, an open-air museum where visitors can admire the architecture of four regions: Masuria, Warmia, Powiśle, and Little Lithuania, which constituted the former East Prussia. In an area of 93 hectares, there are around 80 buildings of various sizes, some of which are originally preserved and moved to the museum, while others are replicas. In the open-air museum, you can see farms, wooden and brick houses, a wooden church with a bell tower, a watermill, windmills, a stable with a garage, granaries, barns, chapels, and ovens, all magnificently decorated inside, giving the place a unique atmosphere that will transport you back in time. In the afternoon, we enjoyed the last moments of the day on the shore of a lake near Olsztyn with the rain in the background.
