A battle between negative thoughts and positive thoughts, "A Thought Storm" is the second piece in the suite, "You Are Enough: A Mental Health Suite" written to elevate the conversations about mental health. The chalkboard project (www.thechalkbo...) provided inspiration for the piece and provided a visual representation of the labels that people put on us, or we put on ourselves.
    You are-
    “I’m not____enough."
[Three singers exclaim fears of not being enough.]
    You are-
    “I’m a ____.” (noun)
[Three more singers exclaim their word from the chalkboard project, a word
that has hurt them in the past]
    You are-you are strong.
    “I’m weak”, “I’m ____” (adjective)
    You are brave.

    “I’m ____” (adjective)
    You are-

[Five more singers exclaim their words]
    You are-

    I’m not good enough
    You are worthy.

    I’m the only one.
    I’m alone
    You are not alone.

    I never will.
    You will-

[All singers sing, at the same time, the word, or thought, that has hurt them].
    Let it go.
    Breathe, just breathe.

    [All singers inhale, and exhale]
You are brave. You are worthy.
You are strong. You are loved.
    You’re ok.

I'm in tears here. It took me 37 years to come out and be myself. I'm 62 years old now, and I've finally learned to stand up to the evangelical fundamentalist voices that told me I was not worthy. Thank you for this incredibly moving statement. If it grabs hold of even one person and opens a door for them to stand up and live freely, it was worth it. Thank you Mr. Accurso for composing something so profound. Thank you Mark Stover and the Glee club for the courage to program such a bold work.

I'm so happy that the piece connected with you! You said it beautifully, if even one person decides to live freely, then it was most certainly worth it. Thank you for making my day with your comment. I shared it with Mark too.
