Love dyeing Alpaca... it takes colour beautifully, and yes ooooo so soft!

It reminds me very much of our stormy sunrises, with the grey shot through with the pinks and apricots.

for me feels more like Sunrise/Sunset at least here in North Florida the sunsets tend to have that mango color at end of day as.sun goes down and I don't think very often at daybreak. I love the way your greys came outl and on my screen had the right blue cast. So much of dyeing has to do with naming it at the end, it directs the viewer to capture the artistry rather than being in my head saying well that doesn't really look like this or that. and then I get stuck not appreciating it for how it turned out. What I love most about dyeing is how it expessed itself so organically and has a determination ultimately of its own.

through the years I've found that starting with an inspriation doesn't always mean the yarn will feel like that in the end. :D Whenever I approach a project with a sense of wonder of how it will turn out it is so much easier to be excited about the results.

I use a plate sitting over the yarn to keep it submerged.
