This was SO SIMPLE!!! I Love the "Curtain Math" rule. Basically, order 'up a size' from your measurements in length. Add a little bit (4" - 6") to each side so you have coverage on each side and so that when they are open they don't cover half of your window. If you want a fuller look order a larger width. GREAT!!!
I can't say enough about his presentation he gave me the information I needed in a very understandable way I'm kind of intimidated about hanging drapes and all the homes I bought before had drapes already installed now I have to install new drapes that was the charm and value to my new home I wish this guy was a close friend our relative of mine
For those of you confused by this. When he talks about 2-4 panels he talking about if you want a curtain that opens from the middle then you need 2 curtains aka panels. If you want layered curtains like when you have a thinner, lighter curtain behind a heavier, darker curtain than you need 4 all together. Two of the lighter and two of the darker. This is for opening the curtains from the middle. If you only want to open your curtains just to one side then you only need 1 panel/curtain.
Straightforward explanation using rules and measurements. Easy to remember! Sometimes women go all over the place in their explanations. Thanks so much!
I’m assuming panels mean curtains? Why would i want 4 curtains on one window? I mean i got it so it doesn’t look flat but why not just get wider curtains?
What I think he's trying to say about the width is ;; Measure the length of the curtain rod and then order twice that length of material so as to have enough to enable you to gather the curtain with the draw strings .......
Whaaaat? Are you saying if you're window is 100" wide, get TWO (double)panels that are 100" wide??? My window measures 120"w, if I add 6" on ea side, total would be 132" - according to your calculations, I should get 2 (double) panels 132"w each??? Are you saying to double the window width with added inches and divide by 2 for the width of each panel? That seems like a heck of a lot of curtain!

So since that window is 40” add 12” (52”). That’s rod length and the length of each curtain? (Using two curtains). Meaning I I have a 40” window I need 2 panels each 52” wide?
I have a window just over 46" wide. With the extra 12"(6 each side), the total is just over 62" wide. So 2 panels are still enough? I'm guessing each panel is equal to the width of the window. I'm just putting up the sheer voile panels, nothin fancy. Thanks
I think you should worry about the rod size first by measuring width and adding 12 in (6 in to each side). For the curtains, if you have exactly 6 feet width, get 2 -4ft curtains for each side so it will give your curtains a stylish look. If you got 2 -3 ft curtains for one thing you would have light leaking in and also you would have them stretched out too much.
Idk how I can’t figure out what sizing to get its like my brain gave out I measures my bedroom window 25W by 70L I want blackout curtains any recommendations anyone?
I don't want 84 inches long. I want something that only covers the window and it's casing. There are electric receptacles below the windows and hot air heat registers and for that reason we can't use floor length curtains or draperies.
buttttt what if my window +6" *2 is like 62".... i need 3 panels? wtf damn Where do I put the 3rd? in the middle? Attached to the other two? 1x 100" and 1x 50" crazy
My window is 70in wide & from the floor to the top of the window is 80in in length & I want the window to b fully covered so what size panels do I buy & how many?
This is very helpful and explained well thank you, however sadly we stopped using imperial in the 60s so all of the measurements in the video are quite confusing. I hope to find a similar one using metric
Ugh. I wanted a designer perspective not a salesman's perspective. Such as going by celiing height, not window height. How wide shoudl the panel be to be full looking and luxurious even when closed.
Thank you George Clooney

By far the simplest explanation of this on RUclips. Thank you!
Thank you!!! You helped me with ordering the correct curtain and rod sizes 🎉🎉
Thank you for the simple, easy to follow instructions!
Great info and presentation! Thank you!😊

How wide is a panel? It is a key piece of information that is missing from this video
Depends on what you pick..🌸

Thank you, best explanation I ever heard!

Yea, he messed up the 100" window double panels. 🤣🤣 But he sounds so confident. 😁
My thoughts exactly🤷♀️☝🤦♀️🤔
Very informative.
This was extremely helpful
Loved it! Thank you so much.
Thanks. This is the info I need!
Great, what about a small living room apartment 4 windows wit 12” separation each other? And the wall curve?
Now, im more confused than before watching the video!
Suzanne Kruger Exact same thing I just said after watching! He confused the hell out of me! Lol
I weep for the future.
Same lmao

Panels come in all different widths so saying to get two panels for every 50” doesn’t help. What width panels?
Thanks for sharing. Much needed info
Very clear, specific and helpful
Thanks for sharing
Question, very high wall the wall is 20 feet high and one window how high do I have to go up top to hang my curtains.
Thank you
So since that window is 40” add 12” (52”). That’s rod length and the length of each curtain? (Using two curtains). Meaning I I have a 40” window I need 2 panels each 52” wide?
Im a contractor ... all i understood was the measurements...LOL
Very well explained👍 cuz this hanging curtains for me🤦 at 1st...
I have a window just over 46" wide. With the extra 12"(6 each side), the total is just over 62" wide. So 2 panels are still enough? I'm guessing each panel is equal to the width of the window.
I'm just putting up the sheer voile panels, nothin fancy.
Thanks
so if my rod length is 84", do I order 4 panels based on the two panels per 50" rod length?
i have the same question...what did u end up doing?
i'm confused. can you explain it for people with no previous experience? it's difficult to understand when you don't show the actual curtains.
You didn't say anything about the required width of the panels.
Thank you
What width should each panel be tho?
I think you should worry about the rod size first by measuring width and adding 12 in (6 in to each side).
For the curtains, if you have exactly 6 feet width, get 2 -4ft curtains for each side so it will give your curtains a stylish look. If you got 2 -3 ft curtains for one thing you would have light leaking in and also you would have them stretched out too much.
And then measure your height and add i guess 6 in so you're not getting any leaked light like that either.
Your comment confuses me! What he explains in this video, doesn't confuse me.
So 2 panels for every 50 inches roughly...WHAT SIZE PANELS???
Mike E I think that’s the part he missed, or maybe I’m missing something 🤔
how did you do it can you share with me , thank you
I'm new to your platform. Great tips!
Thank you Philip schoffield
Awesome thank you
Did not know that about rod length!!
Can anyone plz help me I have a light bulb in the middle of a window and I want yo hang my curtains high how do I do it?
Huh but panels don’t come in the same width
Idk how I can’t figure out what sizing to get its like my brain gave out I measures my bedroom window 25W by 70L I want blackout curtains any recommendations anyone?
Correction how wide are your panels
By panels does he mean curtains?
I don't want 84 inches long. I want something that only covers the window and it's casing. There are electric receptacles below the windows and hot air heat registers and for that reason we can't use floor length curtains or draperies.

That’s what I have… what did you end up getting?
How large are your panels
Fuck me.... i think im gonna go with the roll of foil paper now.
These inches thing is annoying. What about centimeters?
For each 50" I will need 2 panels, but what measure?? He forgot to say that.
What the hell is panels?

This guy looks like Kyle MacLachlan and George Clooney became one human.
Sorry I suffer with dyslexia. When he says 4 panels either side. Does he mean 4 curtains one side and 4 on the other on one pole?
I'm so lost ....so 2+2 equals 4 ...I knew it !!! should've paid more attention to math class
hard to understand
1:50 was 6 cm not inches
0:23
