If its still possible in the newer games, you should definitely log out your controller when you get in the final games.
That way its more fair on the teams + the players will actually play (kinda) the way they play irl, due to the CPU traits...
Maybe for the next team you should make a rule where you keep 3 players from the team you start off with and take them all the way to the end.
