I'm SO late to this game, but just bought it today because it went on SALE, and I'm SO GLAD I did. I played it blind, and ended up with Benkei's route for my first playthrough. I always consider first plays to be my genuine plays, since I choose intuitively, much like I do in real life! I was so surprised to get Benkei's Happy Ending for my first playthrough, lmao. Even though I wasn't able to max out his affection, we still had a Happy Ever After 😂❤. But damn those bad ends with the Heiki brothers... I didn’t know how to feel about those. My poor baby Shanao 😢. Anyway, this video was very insightful and fascinating. I've never been a history buff myself, but this piqued my interest. It definitely put some dynamics into perspective. That adds more depth to the character arcs, I believe.

You and I are on the same page with Benkie! Especially after I realized that according to legend Shanao and Benkie were good friends. It just feels right.
Also, forgot to mention in my old post. The stuff you said about Tomomori resonated with me. After playing through Benkei's route, I played his next, blind. I would either get him or Benkei based on my intuitive choices, so I never looked up guides for either of them. Needless to say, I was DISAPPOINTED. His route was SO watered down, imo. And Shanao's own internal conflict felt way too rushed for me. The guy was CRAZY. HE WAS SO DISTURBING, especially in Benkei's route. Good grief. LOL But yeah. I couldn't finish Tomomori's since he's just not cut out to be a genuine LI. He's so much better as a twisted sicko villain who Shanao despises.
