Important note is that most backlight bleed is a result of too much pressure on the edges of your monitor. Laptops with thin bezels suffer from this. If you let the device warm up a bit, its usually enough to start reducing the light bleed since the plastic expands a bit. When I start mine cold I see a bit in the corner, but it goes away after it warms up. I would say mine is reduced by 80% or more once it warms up. of course every panel will be slightly different so your results will vary. Just dont return a monitor right away if there is bleed, give it a chance. A little bleed is better than dead pixels!
I got my new 4k monitor and noticed that the backlight bleed on it was awful, so I sent it back and got a new one and there's no noticeable bleed. No wonder I'm always scared that everything I buy is a defect.

Yeah definitely, that's why I advise people to consider the Acer monitors because Acer has really taken steps to improve their quality control as of mid 2016 , sure the 1st unit I got had excessive bleed, the 2nd has barely noticable bleed and I think unless it becomes extreme during night time, I will not be returning this one.
My TV has blacklight bleeding and clouding, its a pain to watch movies when the room is dark, it is just no fun and you can't see shit. I hope I can exchance it, i pay 1000 bucks for it.
This is suprisngly very very usefull, just used it on my tv, it allowed me to go through all the settings, backlight, contrast, gamma and so on to get rid of the bit of bleed I was getting. Cheers.

I bought the floor model and found out it's missing a cable organizer clip that attaches to the back. Probably worth just forgetting about for fear of getting a worse replacement.
Same here man. I have moderate bleed in the right corner and a single dead pixel, identical monitor. I think im just gonna keep it, i've heard its virtually impossible to get a perfect one of these and im really happy with my monitor so far.

I assumed my current monitor was no longer any good simply because it's sooooooooooooooooo old, but after checking its clarity and backlight bleed (or lack thereof) I now realize my baby may be old, but she's doing just fine... so, I guess I'll just buy myself an Xrite Colormunki to calibrate my screen and get on with my life [with serval hundred bucks still in my pocket].

But after starting the video, the monitor goes to sleep after about 20 or so seconds because it thinks the video card is blanking the display or something. At least a 32 inch monitor with 1440p resolution. I'm thinking about buying an LG 34 Inch widescreen, but if you know a good monitor please let me know!
When you read this, and youre suffering from Backbleeding, dont think twice. Send it back !!! No matter what some people might say, Backbleeding is a huge problem and it shouldnt be ignored. A "normal" monitor has ZERO Backbleeding, keep that in mind, no matter if IPS, VA or TN !!!!

to far back do you have to be look to test black bleeding ? when im up close on my screen i can see more white on the edges on the screen but when im sitting back looking at the screen head on there is very minimal bleeding . so what gives ????
My monitor is not the perfect of the perfection, but this Asus ROG Strix XG49VQ is the best monitor (and first to be honest) that i could have bought. I ♥ it! And better yet, no backlight bleeding, no dead pixels... I indeed went with luck on this 1 ♥

@@f-22raptor25 I can say yes it's noticeable even in daylight. For example playing witcher 3 and you go to a cave. With IPS the whole screen especially on the sides is greyish rather than dark. With a VA Panel is darkish the way it meant to be.

I got it back with major problems with the new display and one of them is it’s no longer OLED. :( Update: Got my phone replaced by the same people again, said they’d switch it with a original screen this time, well my phone isn’t complaining with its origins now but it’s still not oled. Dammit.
Just noticed my TV has alot of bleed, its only 8 months old and I have barely used it, have kept it in a box for like the last 6 months It was not doing this before and just doing this last week and noticed the white patches during dark scenes, it was not doing this before, this still has warranty, is this something I can return and get a new one or is this something that I have to fix? Any advise will be appreciated!
Yep! My iPhone 13 is true OLED. Tried all brightness levels and it’s perfect. I did it in a pitch black room in the middle of the night even. This is so cool.

I have the ASUS XG32QVR and never before such a good panel (VA) where black is really black without any kind of clouding or blb! But honestly it's my second model. The first one had two places where clouding was existed! But the new one is free of clouding and blb! :-) Only just a little brighter on the lower left corner. But if you dimm the brightness, it's gone or doesn't stand out anymore!

My backlight bleed on my MSI Pulse GL76 was not too bad, there seemed to be patches of light on the corners and just a bit on the bottom but never noticeable during normal use.
The backlight bleed on the bottom edge of my MSI laptop is bad enough to be a distraction if I'm watching darker content. I'm not sure if its worth all the hassle of sending it in for a screen replacement though.

This will have to do until the OLED monitors come out and come down to a price that isn't complete anal rape. I do own an LG 55" OLED 4k TV and, yeah. Every single thing about the picture quality of that OLED blows the PG279Q out of the water. That's why they are so expensive.....
+Technologic bs, my XB271HU from Acer has NO BLB, only the greedy companies like ASUS, who have NOT changed their manufacturing practices to improve quality experience bleed on EVERY unit, how do I know this? Because I tried *E L E V E N* PG279Q's and ALL of them had not only excessive BLB but also scratchmarks. Now, the XB271HU I first received also had bleeding, much less than ANY of the ASUS monitors I tried mind you, but still, not something I could look at and pretend it's okay so I returned that unit and now my 2nd one is PERFECT, it has NO issues whatsoever, so be warned people, if you're going for an IPS 144 HZ/1440p/G-sync monitor, DO NOT buy an ASUS, yes the Acer XB271HU is not as appealing as the PG279Q for that matter but seriously, eventually your vendor WILL try and force you to accept your monitor the way it is, atleast, mine did, so you cannot keep on returning them and what not, 11 out of 11 had issues, the Acer one is suspected to have blb present on 2 out of 10 units, yes the OSD is fugly but who cares? How often are you there? Besides, the Acer allows you to set 3 custom profiles, which is awesome. I am glad I got this one now, I hope you will be to.
the moniter that i have is an asus VE228H and it has allmost no backlight bleed..problem is that if this one fails i cant get another since they have been discontinued. and most of the newer asus moniter has bad backlight bleed.
People complained about LG UltraWide's having a lot of backlight bleeding. Only noticed very small bleeding on the left side, unnoticeable without a completely dark screen. It's better than my old samsung PLS monitor.
Question: If my friend's Samsung TV looks completely off when this video is playing, how is OLED any different? I thought that's what OLEN TVs do whereas a Samsung TV should still show light, but it doesn't. It looks completely off and the only way to see it's on is to bring up the RUclips controls during the video.
oled has no blacklight ( as each pixal is a tiny led and requires no back light to illuminate ) so you dont see it unlike normal lcd moniters that need a backlight. when a pixel in oled is off. its black..
The Samsung TV most likely has local dimming wich means on complete black like this it will turn of the black-light making it totally black, it is same as turning of the TV basically...

Yeah but pretty much every single IPS panel has SOME backlight bleeding and ips glow, it's a quirk of the technology

Samsung G7 Odyssey 240HZ, 27", G-Sync ON. VA Panel. No problem here. Pitch black screen. Not like my IPS Panel before. This is so great to see.

I am on a 2014 cheap TN monitor and the BLB is sooo miniscule, I'm actually proud of my old guy.

had this monitor g27qc for a year and now i'm playing particular darker games its very noticeable now.
Don't forget to run this test at night with all lights off. Your screen also reflects quite a lot of light, even mat screens.
But you can experience deep black in oled and amoled display.

Because I tried *E L E V E N* PG279Q's and ALL of them had not only excessive BLB but also scratchmarks.
Now, the XB271HU I first received also had bleeding, much less than ANY of the ASUS monitors I tried mind you, but still, not something I could look at and pretend it's okay so I returned that unit and now my 2nd one is PERFECT, it has NO issues whatsoever, so be warned people, if you're going for an IPS 144 HZ/1440p/G-sync monitor, DO NOT buy an ASUS, yes the Acer XB271HU is not as appealing as the PG279Q for that matter but seriously, eventually your vendor WILL try and force you to accept your monitor the way it is, atleast, mine did, so you cannot keep on returning them and what not, 11 out of 11 had issues, the Acer one is suspected to have blb present on 2 out of 10 units, yes the OSD is fugly but who cares? How often are you there? Besides, the Acer allows you to set 3 custom profiles, which is awesome.

the moniter that i have is an asus VE228H and it has allmost no backlight bleed..problem is that if this one fails i cant get another since they have been discontinued.
and most of the newer asus moniter has bad backlight bleed.

ViewSonic VX2257-MHD user. This video makes me want an OLED; even the darkest blacks on this monitor are sort of like a navy blue.

People complained about LG UltraWide's having a lot of backlight bleeding. Only noticed very small bleeding on the left side, unnoticeable without a completely dark screen. It's better than my old samsung PLS monitor.

Question: If my friend's Samsung TV looks completely off when this video is playing, how is OLED any different? I thought that's what OLEN TVs do whereas a Samsung TV should still show light, but it doesn't. It looks completely off and the only way to see it's on is to bring up the RUclips controls during the video.
oled has no blacklight ( as each pixal is a tiny led and requires no back light to illuminate ) so you dont see it unlike normal lcd moniters that need a backlight.
when a pixel in oled is off. its black..
The Samsung TV most likely has local dimming wich means on complete black like this it will turn of the black-light making it totally black, it is same as turning of the TV basically...
