A sneak peek in which Alan Meyerson takes home recordings and makes them feel like a live orchestra using convolution reverb.
Join Alan Meyerson to explore the music of the award-winning 2020 movie 'Mank'! In this series, Meyerson describes how he has redefined his workflow in light of restricted access to commercial studios and sessions. He takes you through his compact yet highly efficient 5.1 home setup, discussing his transition to a different process and environment. Alan explains how he has managed to continue achieving world-class results on major film and game scores with his new simplified rig. He refers to a number of projects undertaken since early 2020 and shares the ways in which he has harnessed technology to get the job done consistently and without compromise. Taking you through his Pro Tools mix session of 'Mank', Alan Meyerson plays the various parts, details how they were recorded by solo musicians, and reveals an impressive convolution plug-in that has been a saviour in his line of work!

I like the mug. Also, a documentary about the process of how this had to be recorded during the pandemic would be really cool.
I could watch Alan indefinitely. He's obviously great at what he does, and he's also humble with great delivery.
that plugin is insane
He's using the reverb of a literal physical space to make space. Water + water = water. It all checks out.
Yes! We want more Alan Meyerson! Thank you! It'd also be nice if you could hook up Jake Jackson or John Rodd and Jason LaRocca!!!
I'm a mug junkie & decided to rewind to see what was printed on it; when I read it, I about fell off the chair! Ha, ha! 😂 On a more serious note, this is a great sample overview of Alan's process. Excellent!
Does it say "fuck off I'm mixing?" I can't see it too well on my monitor.
This is amazing.
Wow ! That's amazing software .
I want that mug.
That is amazing software! Got the VSL plugins and in future, if I have the funds, I will get the other plugins! Truly amazing!
Boy, did this ever bring back memories of my old music teacher, Maestro Sean Diebler, at University of the Arts, Philadelphia! He was always talking about Vienna and Budapest Hungary, which just so happens to be my heritage, Áustria/Hungarian! Hmmm!
Moving to Budapest soon as a pro composer. Spent 4 years learning the lingo and 3 learning audio engineering but I only need wifi. I learnt orchestration the old fashioned way and trained in LA with metronome in the early noughties. How times have changed.
Great product! Have it too
One of the better examples of reverb and space. My favorite verb is convolution but a CPU hog. Have to stay with the capital verb.
Thats brilliant
The plurar of cello is celli? You learn something new every day I guess...
That’s right. 😊
u should've zoomed in the mug. Great mug..and mix

never heard of those apogee plugins nice:)
whats the name of the Mixing consoles with the screens?
It is always the Mir Pro... Geezusch.
Wow
A clearly "Adult" perspective with the mug and the statement about being recorded in someones bedroom. But still a great teacher!
Noice. Grab an LFO and spin those Violins around a bit.
Love the sound...... there goes my 650 euros for the plugin.... :'(
What's is the Reverb plugin?
For real?
Vienna MIR Pro
Widening and moving the violins around must cause a lot of phase issues.
natural phase or linear phase plugins can fix that in the intro or end of the chain.
just use the binaural panner in Logic
What’s the name of the DAW?
Pro Tools
You forgot '...eventually'.
I liked the sound before the reverb was added
