Stepped into a Zeekr 009 on the weekend after seeing the videos and honestly... blew my mind. They are so far ahead of everybody else in terms of luxury, technology and scarily even driveability. Genuinely amazed at how far ahead of my Volvo the Zeekr is.
@@oliverodell3105 Dutch reviews, carmagazines, were ' average' about this car despite the very nice design. The cars are developed in 1 a 2 years.....that was main complaint, as tested in the Netherlands the car had many software bugs and issues. We have a very mature EV market in the Netherlands.
Getting it tested and certified for Canadian roads as a new vehicle is the hurdle unless it's some sort of loophole. Even if you buy it the provincial or territorial governments might not let it be licensed. Unless the Chinese companies want to spend all the money on testing and certifications? Seems like they don't since I've been hearing for 10 years the Chinese are coming to market next year.
That Zeekr 007 GT would dominate the UK market if it ever made it here for reasonable pricing. I mentioned to a friend at work I watched this channel and it turned out he does too and is really loving Zeekr 7X. In the UK, I could easily see this being the premium brand of choice, especially in the mid range.
My vote would be the Zeekr 007 GT. That thing looks so good. I also have issue with Xpeng not using Lidar. This hurts teslas in poorly lit conditions. Another thing is that Xpeng is against HUDs. Bot sure of its also absent here.
Also, I think it's great that sedans are part of the line up. As someone who owns a Passat, I get frustrated that good sedans are being phased out & replaced by SUVs - although they are really 'sports' or 'utilities'.
I am really skeptical about self-driving getting there without LIDAR… In regular traffic, yes, but as soon as there’s something that’s missing from the visual training data, the car cannot tell whether or not there’s an object in front of it or not. There was a report on fatal Tesla FSD accidents and that was pretty much the case there.
It's not just EV tech , I think Chinese Tech companies are going to evolve at a rate never seen in tech history. It's a combination of demand , policy and expertise all combined with growing industries and markets.
Amazing that Zeekr is gonna bring the 7GT to Europe so fast! Hope they'll also ship it to other countries like Germany. Also fingers crossed for a 110 or 120 kWh battery option 😀👌
This is a good point. The UK has been friendly towards investment in Foreign based company local car production. No tariffs yet so production here could keep this sensible approach.
The reputation of China’s electric vehicles is not just in trouble domestically-they’ve also come under fire in Russia, one of the country’s closest allies. A vlogger remarked that China’s embarrassment has now gone international. Recently, Russian media openly criticized the poor quality of Chinese-made cars, stating they fall far behind Japanese vehicles in terms of reliability. Complaints included poor stability, high failure rates, anti-collision beams as thin as paper, suspensions as fragile as chopsticks, and subpar after-sales service.
I am a big fan of your site Sam. And I am a big fan of 007 wagoon. Especially as it is shown in the video at 6.23, which is how it looked like in the beginning. But I also looks different in the newer versions, so is it just me, or are there two versions? I think that the one - if we forget politics aso. is a future classic. I am the happy owner of a Citroen ID 19 froms1967, had it for 30 years as my only car, but I am now waiting for the 007. Yours Mads
I am considering buying an EV in the next 12 months. At the moment I am leaning heavily towards the Zeekr 007GT it's a stunning looking car with an impressive feature list or the Zeekr 7X. I would prefer the car version rather than the SUV one. I hope Zeekr release both of these in Australia.
Problem with all these enticing brands is wondering which one will survive. No point having a warranty if the parts aren’t available or the company closes.
I’m here in Australia and wish BYD will enable bidirectional DC charging on their EVs via software update. Not the small V2L using their onboard inverter. We’re driving a battery on wheels, wish we can put it to good use in the house
Be good to see Zeeker & Xpeng in NZ. Were about to purchase a T MY Juniper but the version we want is not yet available. Zeeker 007 and Xpeng would be well worth considering even if we had a path to import a one off. But alas I am not aware we have this option ATM
Love love love the look of that Zeekr wagon - it's what i wish my Ioniq 6 was, if it was a wagon it would be perfect! If it's available here it'll be on my shopping list, and add the MIX too!!!!
Writing from Croatia, Europe. Finally an EV manufacturer who produced the car with the roof rails! And it is a wagon! Wagons are very popular in EU and people are more likely opting for it, over the SUV. SUV is not a culture here, but they're gaining popularity only because lack of other quality options. 1 month ago I bought new Audi A5 wagon diesel (4.8x m long), only because there was zero options in the EV world which met my criteria for space, comfor, range and technology, which i wanted for my family. Between P7+ and 007 GT, Zeekr with 100 kWh battery is an easy win. If there was 007GT option available last month, I would not even consider Audi. People need at least 400 km real world range while cruising 145 kmh, and 800V architecture with 10 min charging possibility. Anything below that is insuficient. Since this Audi of mine will go for sale in 3 years time, 007 GT is very likely the next winner. Keep the good work Zeekr !!
Yes please from the uk. I have a wife that simply says she will not consider an EV unless it can do over 400 miles in the cold weather due to range anxiety. We are getting closer.
for me it's 350 miles. If an EV can make me travel from San Diego CA to Las Vegas NV with interstate speeds in cold weather, then I'll gladly consider one.
@@hardywoodaway9912 the problem is if you need to do 400 miles it means you drive on freeway and mostly in winter for ski trips etc. so the real mileage is like 150 miles from 90 to 10% of battery right now..
You have a wife problem. In the UK we very rarely get very cold weather, 0-5C counts as cold weather. With careful choice of model you should only get 10% reduction in range. How often does your wife need to drive over 200 miles in a single trip without stopping? 300 miles WLTP range would be enough for 99% of people for 95%+ of their journeys
Interesting how this will become a land grab by Chinese competitors going after new markets. South Africa is an interesting potential EV market. Our electricity crisis has resulted in massive solar/ battery installations, so many homes have excess photons while electricity prices are going up 15-20% p.a. Overlay the fact that the German and Japanese automakers are over represented in this market, and consumers are accustomed to overpaying for their vehicles. Cue the likes of BYD and now Zeekr. The SA market is very receptive to well priced EVs (I own a BMW X1 BEV which was subsidised by a guaranteed buy back in 2 years). The new Zeekr range would easily outprice and outperform the legacy offers available. A market that they should definitely take a look at.

Absolutely bring the wagon to Australia.
Zeekr 7 GT looks incredible. I will definitely consider if it comes to Australia, we need more station wagons!
I'd absolutely love to have either the Zeekr 007 GT or the Zeekr 7x 😀 I really hope that both will be released in Australia 🙏
great to see some building for the future. thanks Xpeng, Geely, BYD, SAIC, Great Wall etc... bravo!!!
Xpeng's P7+ would be an instant buy. Zeekr 007 is definitely also worth considering for Australia
Thanks!
sure,in 2090 if you have enough patience.
The 007GT may just stop me buying a Model Y. I love a good wagon and that thing looks insane.
many cars can stop you buying TMY
ID.7?
Excellent choice
New model Y looks bad. i much prefer the old model.
Living in Australia, but thinking of returning back to NZ. Both Xpeng & Zeeker look amazing and will definitely buy one
Bring the 007 GT to Australia. Big battery, good range
Count me in ❤
I will buy the Zeekr 007 sedan if it comes to Australia
I'm definitely after a wagon 007 gt but really need v2g. V2g is what I'm waiting for.
I will have a Zeekr 7 x thank you
definitely. bring it to the whole world. more competition, the car price will be better (hopefully)
